Jeff Marmelstein Roofing Systems

The team of roofers did a great job. They began promptly after the last snowstorm in March and finished within the timeframe given, despite snowy conditions.

With the work completed, we are very satisfied that we used Jeff Marmelstein Roofing Systems. The roofing work was done in a timely manner and our new roof looks great. In addition, his crew did a terrific job in cleaning up.

Had a big problem! Stack pipe on roof was clogged with roofing materials from the job. Caused major expense and Jeff M denied any responsibility. Had clogged samples removed by plumber and sent to an independent lab for testing. Results showed that materials removed from clogged pipe were the same materials from roofing job. Would not recommend!

Jeff's crew replaced my entire roof in July when the weather was very hot. Everthing went well. Jeff and his son cleaned my attic afterward. Jeff's price was similar to another roofer, but it was 30% lower than two other roofers. Jeff is very patient in explaining to me what is going on every morning. I was concerned about the cleaning debris part based on the previous review, but the results was fine. They cleaned driving way, lawn, and garden. I did see some nails and debris hiding behind bush or falling from the roof after rain or wind in the begining, but I am fine with that. My friends also think it is normal to see some debris right after the replacement.

Overall I had a good experience with this contractor.  He quoted a price that was substantially lower than the highest quote for a comparable solution. He started the job when he had said he would, and his crew showed up every day and kept at it until the job was done.  I walked the roof after it was done and their workmanship appears to be first-rate.  They also did all of this during the coldest week of the year, I should add.
The only reason I had to ding them a little bit was because there was a lot of debris left behind in our back yard after they were done.  This was mentioned in some other reviews on Angie's List so I was prepared for it, and because his quote was so much lower than the other bidders I was willing to live with the possibility.  I would also point out that roofing is an inherently dirty job, and like I said they were doing this during the coldest week of the year.  All in all I think I got pretty good value for my money, I mention it only because it's something a potential customer should be prepared for.
At any rate, their workmanship is good and the leak we had that led to this work being done has not returned in the month since they finished the job. That, I think, is the ultimate test.  I would not have a problem recommending this company based on my experience.

So far the roof does not seem to have any leaks.  However, I advise against using Jeff Marmelstein Roofing Systems.  Apart from the fact that they did not take the proper precautions and as a result damaged my garage door, siding, stairs, and landscaping, they did not properly clean up the roof debris scattered throughout the lawn.  I ended renting big magnet dolly from the local hardware store and finding over 200 nails in our lawn and our neighbors? lawns.  We have small children that play on the lawn so leaving nails behind is absolutely unacceptable.  

We discussed the damage done to the garage door and other parts of the property. He reluctantly agreed to take about $400 off which did not really cover all the damage, but I just wanted the mess to be over with and him out of my life.  However, that was before I realized the mess his crew left in the lawn. It took 4 days of racking, shop vacuuming and running a magnet to clean up all of the nails and chunks of roof shingles out of lawn.

It went great without a hitch.  He was honest and did what he said he would do.

Great job.   My daughter, prior to becoming an Angie's List member, used Jeff Marmelstein last year for an entire roof replacement and she recommended  them to me.  Another Angie's List "A" Roofer wanted to charge me $2200+ dollars to totally replace the  roof area.   I feel like I saved a ton of money and got personalized service for just the job that needed doing without the extra padding of the bill.   Absolutely, call this company if you need a repair or an entire roof.

Overall it went well. It was winter and very windy and cold. Pieces of the old roof ended up all over the yard and I'm still finding them three years later! I think they tried to clean up, but given the conditions it was difficult. Probably would try not to do roofing work in winter next time

I had some nasty, old, undersized gutters that were overflowing from heavy rains. Mr. Marmelstein returned my call promptly and met with me the very next day. His crew came out a week later and installed larger, seamless gutters for me. They were so quiet with the install that I hardly noticed they were there. They installed in about 1/2 a day. The gutters look great and work perfectly. They did a great job cleaning up afterwards, as well. I've had so much work done to my home this year, I can't remember what I paid, but I was on a tight budget and I remember I felt the price was very reasonable...especially for the care with install and great service you get. My spouse is very picky with the work done by contractors...but was extremely pleased with Jeff Marmelstein Roofing. I will definately use this company again!

He had a good price and did a great job. He did the job the right way the first time and quickly. I don't even remember the crew being at the home (which is a good thing).

Everything went well. Job looks good. Did have one leak around a chimney and they came right out and fixed it. They did not clean the yard up very well afterwards, but it was cold and windy and a lot of debris blew off the roof and got hung up in bushes etc. 7 months later I'm still picking up pieces of shingles. That being said the overall job was great and I would definitely call them again

Everything went extremely well. They showed up on time, completed the job on time, and came in on budget. The quality is excellent. They are very professional and clean.

He did a great job. The team was great and they finished the job within a week. The finished roof looked fine. I would hire them again in the future.

When I called for an estimate, Jeff came promptly and gave us a great price. He went over all the phases of the program and told us exactly when he could start and what materials he would use. The crew was fantastic, working everyday steadily and efficiently. We had gotten several other estimates and were able to compare step by step. His estimates for the cost and the time were right on. When the crew left there was scarcely any evidence that they had been there for over a week.

Very professional, arrived promptly each morning, pleasant workers. Gave updates as to progress. Because of "surprise" additional work that we decided to have done, he offered us a payment plan to cover the additional amount. (Previous owners had done an inexpensive patch job on top of 3 dormers that he did not detect during initial estimate). Company seems to appreciate the value of the clay tiles (expensive at $10-12 a piece) and the aesthetic of the clay tile roof.

Amazing experience! Jeff was recommended to me by a friend who also had a wonderful experience with his work. He came and gave me an estimate that was MUCH LOWER than all of the others I had received. Normally I would have been wary of such a low estimate; but, since he had been so highly recommended, I decided to go with his company. He said he would start work in a month and a week later he called to ask if he could start sooner. He was SO FLEXIBLE. We were in the process of deciding on an addition, so he was kind enough to pause work on our roof for 2 weeks as we got estimates for that work. Then when we were ready, we had his men right back on the job. The entire job took about 5 days total and now he cleaned up and it is as if he was never here! Except, our new roof is GORGEOUS and so solid looking! His estimate was right on target...I have only great things to say about Jeff and his company! He was a pleasure to work with!
