Rick Carpenter

This project was 2nd job Rick Carpenter performed for us. We picked out and purchased all materials and fixtures: Avalon porcelain tile,Clear Path barrier free shower floor and drain,Moen plumbing fixtures,shower enclosure by Frameless Shower Doors,American Standard Dual Flush toilet,LED vanity light from Bright Light (Progress Lighting), marble style Quartz vanity counter top from 75 Cabinets,vanity from PA Home Store outlet(50% less than most ) and Panasonic exhaust fan.Most of these items were purchased form online searches. Amazon for all other chrome fixtures. Took about 1 month to shop for and gather all materials.We spent more on fixtures and materials than labor because the higher quality items cost more but we got the styles and features we wanted.
  The Game plan was to have all the materials delivered to our home ready to install to avoid delays,since we have only 1and1/2 baths.From demolition to first use in 5 days, 7days for completion.
This project exceeded our expectations.The Contractor is the kind of guy willing to work with you to meet your goals,but also talk you out of dumb ideas.The Genesis of this remodel was an episode of "This Old House" and a son who modifying his home to have a wheel chair bound dad move in with him and the bathroom had the same fiberglass tub and sliding shower doors we had.Ugly and a pain to get in and out even for the non handicapped. I was sold on the idea of having a no lip walk in shower.Plus it was way past time to upgrade. I'll let the pictures I posted tell the complete story!

Over the last 3 years, I have had a new roof, new windows, and had the exterior painted.(see reviews) I always call contractors from Angie's List, however, I'll sometimes  find one on my own. Rick Carpenter was referred to me  by the painter.This man and his crew did a GREAT  job. WE had outstanding communication in design, layout and materials to be used. I got exactly what I was hoping for at a very reasonable price. Since the deck was built over an existing concrete slab and steps, a 12" to 18"  height was too high to step off. Steps that wrap around the base made stepping on and off the deck quite easy. This also enclosed the base and gave the job a fine finished look. The roof shingles match the house and a new shed roof.
  I use Angie's List for just about every type of major job.I tell the venders upfront that I found them on Angie's. But I do my homework on vendors, materials and labor and the various benefits of each. Finding the right contractor is key. I highly recommend Rick Carpenter because you'll get great value and no BS.
