After visiting two other auto body repair shops in the Mechanicsburg, PA area that were recommended by my Acura dealership and receiving complete, written estimates from each of them, I found "Phil's Body Shop" on Angie's List. This shop had many outstanding customer reviews (and no negative ones), so I visited "Phil's Body Shop" in Harrisburg, PA (25 miles from my home) and received an estimate to remove, repair, refinish, repaint and reinstall the front bumper of my 2006 Acura MDX for a very competitive price of $450. [One of the very reputable repair shops my Acura dealer had recommended to me and from which I got an estimate, would only replace the entire bumper with a new "Original Equipment Manufacture" (OEM) bumper after prepping the new one, painting, finishing, etc., for $1012. The second Acura dealer-recommended reputable body shop would do what "Phil's Body Shop" proposed (remove bumper, repair, prep, paint, refinish, reinstall the original bumper) for $626.] Given the "Phil's Body Shop" high ratings/reviews on Angie's List and the shop's written estimate to do what one of the other reputable shop's proposed at a much higher price ($626), I elected to have the work performed by "Phil's Body Shop" for $450. I brought my vehicle to "Phil's" on March 21, 2016 and I picked-it up on March 24 after being called that the work was complete. Upon arriving there and inspecting the reinstalled front bumper at the shop, I readily noticed some chips/scuffs toward the sides of the bumper and elsewhere on it that had not been refinished/painted, along with noticeable silver metallic paint overspray on some of the adjoining black grille, and a gap/poor fit along the right seam of the bumper where it butts to the right-front fender. I contacted the manager and asked him to look at what my tri-focal spectacled eyes were seeing. He initially stated that his shop only repaired and refinished the section of the bumper that was damaged and never expected to fix any other minor paint chipping, scuffs, etc., on the bumper. Clearly, we had differing expectations -- particularly in light of the opportunity to do so while the bumper was fully removed from the vehicle and our joint walk-around pre-inspection together (at my request) only noted unrelated discrepancies elsewhere on the vehicle, but none that were on the front bumper. The manager knew I was very disappointed (and I personally think he was professionally disappointed too in the work his team had done/did not do). He offered to have me leave my vehicle so he could make it right. I could not leave the vehicle that day and I elected to return my vehicle to "Phil's Body Shop" the following week (March 28, 2016) by pre-arrangement with the manager who was very understanding and accommodating. He assured me his shop would "make it right" and meet my expectations. My vehicle was ready for pickup (2nd time) on March 31, 2016. The manager's word was solid and my vehicle's front bumper is as close to being "just right" as I can ever expect it to be. Nice! Though I was disappointed at the first attempt, the manager's commitment to doing the right thing (INTEGRITY) without confrontation or excuses was more important to me as a fellow citizen and customer than anything else. Thus, my high ratings for Mr. Wally Carper and his crew at "Phil's Body Shop," 3715 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111. (717) 564-9202.
Guys did a great job on getting my car looking as good as new.
They worked with me and delivered as promised. Even arranged to get my car inspected (and she needed it since the stickers expired the day I picked her up).
Good quality, professional crew. Will def. use again and recommend to friends!
I didn't know where to take my car, so I finally bought a membership to Angie's List and picked a autoshop with the "Shield" rating - apparently Angie's List's best vendor rating. Phil's earned the top rating from my experience.
I recently had work done by Phil's Body Shop (PBS). I had several quotes for the damage that I recently had repaired and PBS quote came in $250.00 less. They penciled me in on the schedule the following week...told me it would take 2 days and my car was fixed and detailed impeccably. Kudos to Wally and his team!!! Highly recommend PBS!
