Description of Work: Vehicle frame was rusted, welded repairs were required. The initial estimate was fair, however additional rust was detected after job was started. Unfortunately, this nearly doubled the original quoted price.

After visiting two other auto body repair shops in the Mechanicsburg, PA area that were recommended by my Acura dealership and receiving complete, written estimates from each of them, I found "Phil's Body Shop" on Angie's List. This shop had many outstanding customer reviews (and no negative ones), so I visited "Phil's Body Shop" in Harrisburg, PA (25 miles from my home) and received an estimate to remove, repair, refinish, repaint and reinstall the front bumper of my 2006 Acura MDX for a very competitive price of $450. [One of the very reputable repair shops my Acura dealer had recommended to me and from which I got an estimate, would only replace the entire bumper with a new "Original Equipment Manufacture" (OEM) bumper after prepping the new one, painting, finishing, etc., for $1012. The second Acura dealer-recommended reputable body shop would do what "Phil's Body Shop" proposed (remove bumper, repair, prep, paint, refinish, reinstall the original bumper) for $626.] Given the "Phil's Body Shop" high ratings/reviews on Angie's List and the shop's written estimate to do what one of the other reputable shop's proposed at a much higher price ($626), I elected to have the work performed by "Phil's Body Shop" for $450. I brought my vehicle to "Phil's" on March 21, 2016 and I picked-it up on March 24 after being called that the work was complete. Upon arriving there and inspecting the reinstalled front bumper at the shop, I readily noticed some chips/scuffs toward the sides of the bumper and elsewhere on it that had not been refinished/painted, along with noticeable silver metallic paint overspray on some of the adjoining black grille, and a gap/poor fit along the right seam of the bumper where it butts to the right-front fender. I contacted the manager and asked him to look at what my tri-focal spectacled eyes were seeing. He initially stated that his shop only repaired and refinished the section of the bumper that was damaged and never expected to fix any other minor paint chipping, scuffs, etc., on the bumper. Clearly, we had differing expectations -- particularly in light of the opportunity to do so while the bumper was fully removed from the vehicle and our joint walk-around pre-inspection together (at my request) only noted unrelated discrepancies elsewhere on the vehicle, but none that were on the front bumper. The manager knew I was very disappointed (and I personally think he was professionally disappointed too in the work his team had done/did not do). He offered to have me leave my vehicle so he could make it right. I could not leave the vehicle that day and I elected to return my vehicle to "Phil's Body Shop" the following week (March 28, 2016) by pre-arrangement with the manager who was very understanding and accommodating. He assured me his shop would "make it right" and meet my expectations. My vehicle was ready for pickup (2nd time) on March 31, 2016. The manager's word was solid and my vehicle's front bumper is as close to being "just right" as I can ever expect it to be. Nice! Though I was disappointed at the first attempt, the manager's commitment to doing the right thing (INTEGRITY) without confrontation or excuses was more important to me as a fellow citizen and customer than anything else. Thus, my high ratings for Mr. Wally Carper and his crew at "Phil's Body Shop," 3715 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111. (717) 564-9202.
Description of Work: Repaired, refinished, painted, reinstalled the front bumper of my SUV, a 2006 Acura MDX. The bumper had suffered "minor" chipping and subtle dent/ding damage along the front, lower two feet (approximate) of its length due to being backed into by another vehicle while parked. Two support strut "fins" of the adjoining black grille had also separated at their bases and were re-attached. Such "minor" chips and bruises are unsightly, so I wanted it fixed and made to look "just right" again.

I had taken my Mustang to another shop to have it aligned. I was told that it could not be aligned because "something must be bent" in the front end. The car had been in a fender bender so I had no reason to doubt what I was being told. I called Phil's because they do collision work and thought they could diagnose the problem and fix it for me. I told them that another shop had tried to aligned the car and diagnosed that the front end was bent. What happened when I took the car to Phil's was that they had the car aligned by "their guy" and he found nothing wrong. I paid for the alignment and I have a car that drives great, tracks straight down the road, and I could not be happier. This incident was just further proof for me that the men at Phil's are trust worthy, they know what they are doing, and are looking to do right by their customers.

Communication was the best. One of the owners wears a headset, so calls are answered promptly. I didn't know where to take my car, so I finally bought a membership to Angie's List and picked a autoshop with the "Shield" rating - apparently Angie's List's best vendor rating. Phil's earned the top rating from my experience.

I have had a number of experiences with other auto body shops. All of them promise the world and usually deliver crappy results. This simply was not the case with Phils Auto body. Right away I felt at ease with Wally. He refused to spot paint the hood as I had requested as he could not guarantee the paint match. As it turns out, he was probably right. I rated the pricing as a "B" but I feel I should probably explain. Most body shops use software to estimate the cost based on aggregate pricing and insurance paying much of the costs. This is not the fault of Phils Auto as occasionally the costs on repair of older vehicles can exceed the allotted time afforded by insurance companies. I had a bit of sticker shock as i was paying for the repair out of pocket. However, Wally was willing to work with me on the price. Wally also understood that this Acura was "my baby" and treated the vehicle with the same (or better) care than I would myself. The car was completed on time and the final result was nothing less than PERFECT. The entire hood was clearcoated and hand buffed to look as good as new. One thing is for certain. I will never use another body shop other than Phil's Auto Body and I can only suggest you do the same.

I accidently dinged my tailgate on a camping trip. I stopped by Phil's Body Shop on the next Monday to get a quote. I got another quote the same day which was also reasonable, but I chose Phil's because of Wally's customer-friendly and professional manner. Tuesday morning I called, then went right over to their shop and dropped off the tailgate (they removed it while I waited... maybe 10 minutes max). Thursday morning Wally called. It was done. I went right over and they installed it and made sure everything worked correctly and that I was satisfied. How could I not be? It was perfect-there was no indication it had ever been dinged and the paint matched perfectly.

As I backed out of the driveway one morning with my CR-V I bumped into the rear of my Accord and buckled the trunk lid and part of the rear corner panel. I drove the Accord to 2 body shops and estimates were $700 and $1,000 for parts, labor, & painting. I then found Phil's here on Angie's List with a lot of good reviews and drove the Accord to their shop on Derry Street. They are very friendly and gave me several options, one of which was to provide my own parts. This was wonderful as I was able to find a used trunk lid from a salvage yard that matched my car's color almost perfectly. Since I was supplying my own part, Phil's Bodyshop quoted me $300 for the job and said it would be done in about 2 days. I called them two days later to schedule the drop off and they were very agreeable. I made a special request to have the car put indoors the same evening it was dropped off due to forecasted rain (due to the damage to the trunk water would get in) and they agreed with no question. They called when it was finished two days later and the price was exactly as estimated. They moved all of the parts from the old trunk to the replacement lid and even provided me with some additional touch up paint at no cost which I only mentioned in passing when I dropped the car off for the repair. My car has just over 221,000 miles so I didn't expect perfection and the damage is barely noticeable and to the average person I don't believe they would be able to tell the backend was damaged. I would recommend Phil for any body work you need. They are honest, reasonable, friendly, and very accommodating.

Wally (co-owner) provided an immediate estimate without an appointment. He provided two good options - repair or replace - and explained in detail the work that would be performed for each. I opted to replace even though it was more expensive than repair. His repair price was $500.00 less expensive than an estimate I received from an equally high-rated and high-quality shop in the area. Additionally, he gave me a date for repair within five days. The repair required three days and you can't tell the difference between the original and the replacement/paint work. They also cleaned the car inside and out at no additional charge. I have had body work done at other places on four prior occasions over the last thirty-five years, but this is the first time I've been truly pleased with every aspect of the experience. I hope I never need body work again, but if I do, I will come directly to Phil's Body Shop.

I found Phil's through Angie's List. The work done by Phil's provided me with superb quality and value. The estimate was $200 below the estimate provided by another well rated body shop in my area. Additionally, the work was very well done; the panel looks great, and they washed the car and vacuumed the interior. Moreover, the work was done quickly, on the day promised, and the owner is both informative and personable. I hope I don't need the services of an auto body shop again, but if I do, I won't hesitate. I will call Phil's! I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend Phil's highly to anyone else needing auto body work.
Description of Work: Phil's repaired a damaged panel on the front of my car. The panel was severely dented during a low-speed "fender bender". Phil's determined that repair of the panel, although potentially feasible, was likely to be more expensive due to additional labor costs beyond the cost of a used panel. Instead, he proposed replacing the panel with a factory part.

The work was done very professionally, on time (actually sooner than expected), and the customer service was superior. I would definitely use Wally and his crew for any future auto body or paint work.

I needed to get some scrapes/scratches and clear coat that was peeling fixed up. I took my 2001 Lexus to them and got the estimate. Dave looked over the car and gave me 2 prices. One for spot painting the area and one for overall paint. I decided to go with the spot. His price was well less than the other 3 estimates I had gotten. I dropped the car off on a Monday and picked it up on Thursday. The car looks FANTASTIC! The color matches perfect! I am so pleased with the job. They were even able to fix a cracked mirror casing which saved me from having to spend 200.00 to get a replacement from a salvage yard. Any body work or painting I ever need in the future is going to be done by them...can't say enough good things about them.
