The work went well but my yard sustained more damage then I expected.

As a comparison shopper I gathered three estimate from three separate concrete contractors. Two I found on Angie's list and one was recommended by a carpentry contractor we had on site. One of the Angie's list contractors never got back to me with a price. The other one did as did the referred contractor. Both were within $2 of one another. We decided to go with the referred contractor - Kenny Masonry.
I found Chris Kenny extremely easy to work with. At one point in our yard, but away from the project site, we had some extra dirt that needed to be moved around and some small tree stumps and other nuisance ground clutter needing to be removed, Chris did it while he was on site. He did charge for the service but again was very easy to work with.
He was also willing to split his schedule and come in and remove the existing concrete right away so we could continue with our portion of the project before he came back to pour the new pad. He returned at the time and day that he promised and the work was completed in a timely manner.
A slight critique is that he and I worked on the design and he tweaked it a bit when I wasn't home to make what he thought was a better fit, which included the reduction in size of the landscaping wall, the changing of the rounded edges of the sidewalk to square and a few other cosmetic and functional items. As a control freak I was a bit annoyed but can say now, a few months later, that ultimately it all worked out and his ideas, born from years in the field, were probably better than mine.
Overall I was pleased with the appearance of the entire project except there was a blemish or two on the sides of the steps that I was not satisfied with. He was, without hesitation, willing to tear out the entire new step pour and re-do it. The fact that he was willing to do that satisfied me (not to mention they were garage steps so the need to be perfect wasn't critical) so I actually said not to tear it all out but instead negotiated a partial reduction on the overall cost that equaled the extra he charged for moving the dirt and clearing the debris. Overall a win-win.
We probably have more concrete work to be done in the future and I will use Kenny Masonry again.
