Trees were taken down to bare branches last Fall. At the time we questioned the extent of the branch removal and if the trees would thrive in the Spring. They did not. We contacted the company and spoke with Shane. He was condescending and rude and has refused to speak with us again even going so far as implying we did something to the trees to cause the lack of growth. We spoke with two tree services and both confirmed we could not expect these trees to thrive. Please note this review is regarding trees that were trimmed on my parents property. We are pursuing this matter because of the rude and unprofessional behavior shown my parents by Shane.

They were very professional good manners. They came out did the work cleaned up the mess they made. Also, was able to give me a referral for my landscaping needs.  I had called three other places and the eichelberger only ones who replied back very promptly I must add.
I was very happy and satisifed with them.

Service was outstanding. They went above and beyond our needs by removing extra ground clutter and tree/limbs. Work very h****** hedgerow removing trees, clearing ground clutter and topping overhanging canopy.  They showed on time and provided on the spot written estimate. They started work on time and left the hedgerow in very nice condition. Removed a lot of trees, picked up all limbs, sticks and leaves. We are very very satisfied with their work performance.  Reasonable price and could meet our schedule the following week. Others were about the same price or higher but all said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to schedule work. Eichelberger's were responsive, reasonable price and responsible for all work performed.  A very satisfied customer.

They came and did an estimate the day after I called them.  I later noticed a larger tree that dropped a fairly large dead branch that was leaning towards my house so they came back and gave me an additional estimate that would include that tree.  They had a cancelation the next morning, so came then to remove the trees.  They arrived right on time and worked efficiently.  They removed them and cleaned up well after themselves.  They could not use a bucket truck or bring a truck into my backyard, so the cost was higher.  One tree was very big around, as well as being tall, so it was more.  They could have cut the stumps closer to the ground, and more neatly, but, aside from that, everything was great.  They were very friendly and courteous.  I am thankful I was not the guy climbing those dying trees to cut them down!!!

Worst tree service in Central PA.  After the experience related below, in which Eichelberger's Tree Service sued us for non payment because we wanted to be able to check their work before we paid them, we just discovered that one of the trees they were supposed to grind out was only ground to just below the soil surface.  Nearly the entire stump is still there.  When I called to report the issue, whichever Eichelberger answered the phone just kept saying they ground out all our stumps.  When I told him I was standing in front of it, he just kept repeating that they ground out all of our stumps.  Regardless of the fact that I was standing in front of the stump while we were speaking.  They are the contractors you get warned about.   Our experience with them has been a nightmare of poor service and a lack of integrity.  Buyer beware...

We have used a lot of contractors over the years, some good and some bad, and our experience with Eichelberger?s Tree Service has been the absolute worst.  Eichelberger?s Tree Service has demonstrated extremely inept customer service, terrible communication, bad manners, poor execution, non-existent follow through, and a lack of respect for their client?s wishes and specifications.  We would never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone, ever.

We presented Eichelberger?s Tree Service with very specific instructions, and told them they were to call us to let us know when work was being done and to not do any work unless we were home to verify that the work had been done properly and to make sure that our lawn was not damaged.  I don?t know if it was from incompetence or a lack of concern for our instructions, but they proceeded to perform all of the work at various times when we were not home.  They also did not perform any kind of a walkthrough with us after the work was completed, as has been customary with every other contractor we have hired. They expected to be paid before we were able to determine if their work was done properly and to our expectations.  The date they claim to have completed the work was during a time that we were away from home for ten days, so we don?t know for sure when the work was completed.  When we returned from our trip, we discovered a handwritten piece of paper that had been shoved in our mailbox that appeared to be a bill.  That is how we found out that Eichelberger?s was claiming that the work was complete.  At this point in time, there was a thick layer of snow on the ground, and we were unable to determine the status of the work or the condition of our lawn that they drove on to perform the work.  If they had simply informed us when the work was being done, as we had requested, we could have had someone there to verify that the work had been done properly.

On the thirty-first day from the day they claim to have done the work, without informing us of their intention, they filed a lawsuit

claiming non-payment.  They claimed to have called us over and over, but we only received one voice mail simply asking if we had received the bill.  Beyond the bill shoved in our mailbox, we received no written notices from them, and no notice, verbal or written, that they were going to sue for non-payment.  Unfortunately for us, our payment was already in the mail when they chose to file the lawsuit.  A week after they cashed our check, we were served with the papers informing us of the lawsuit.  When I called Eichelberger Tree Service, they initially said they would withdraw the lawsuit, but then decided that they wanted to recoup the $140 fee for filing the lawsuit.  So basically, they chose to spend $140 to sue us rather than spend 50 cents for a stamp to send a written notice, and then they expected us to pay them $140 to cover their incompetence and lack of professionalism.

In conclusion, we regret ever having used Eichelberger's Tree Service, and would never use them again.  We would not ever recommend them to anyone, as there are many other tree services available with excellent track records.

Eichelberger's made it very easy, they left an estimate at the door, came and did the work when we weren't home, left a bill and we were able to mail them a check at our convenience.  They did a good job of making sure nothing was damaged in the removal process.  My only complaint which is a minor one is wood chips from the stump grinding were all over the place, but I'm assuming that comes with the territory when that work is done.  They probably couldn't help that, and it's wood so it's biodegradable anyway.  We will definitely be using them again for several more stump grindings and possibly another tree removal.  His estimate was the cheapest of three received as well - very satisfied.

Response from Eichelberger's Tree Service LLC
"We topped and shaped the tree on the side the house taking approx 20 ft off the whole tree. Customer was satisfied. The problem arose on the tree in the front. At the time of the estimate I was told to trim off the long and unsightly branches to match the rest of the tree and trim the tree away from the house and gutter. I quoted 135 to do the work on that tree. As we were working on the tree the customer said they would like 6 inches off the entire tree. This would have involved cutting approx 300 individual limbs. I explained that were not able to cut it that way with the equipment we had with us. We trimmed it away from the house and the long branches to make it a nice shape as originally requested. I then charged $40 instead of the $135. We work entirely outside all year long, so unfortunately this means we have to work in inclement weather such as snow."

Came a day sooner than said which was great They put it where we wanted it. They gave us a great price because we ordered 3 cord. Wood burns for a long time and there wasn't a lot of dirt and tiny pieces with it . We are very happy with it.

I had approximately 100 feet of unkempt and overgrown hedges that needed to be trimmed into shape. Also, an old horse chestnut tree needed to be pruned where the branches were too close to the house. A crew of 4 polite and industrious men tackled both jobs. They worked industriously and finished both jobs in just a couple of hours. All waste was cleaned up. They did excellent work for a very reasonable price. I will use them again.

They're quick, they cleaned up everything and I guess they kept what they quoted, it's a very good price. I'll actually use them again for another tree.

The hedges looked great. Trees were trimmed as expected. Dale (owner) did the estimate, and they showed up the next week. Only complaint was that they didn't remove stumps, and still waiting for separate estimate for that. The guys that did the work were friendly enough, and the clean-up was done well. We would use them again.

He took ground temperature and rain into consideration so as not to ruin the lawn. They arrived when scheduled.
We've also had trees removed by Eichelberger's twice before. We always compare and he always has the lowest price. We've saved hundreds of dollars.
