I was very happy and satisifed with them.
they came on time, did the work professionally, cleaned up nice and were very respectful.
Worst tree service in Central PA. After the experience related below, in which Eichelberger's Tree Service sued us for non payment because we wanted to be able to check their work before we paid them, we just discovered that one of the trees they were supposed to grind out was only ground to just below the soil surface. Nearly the entire stump is still there. When I called to report the issue, whichever Eichelberger answered the phone just kept saying they ground out all our stumps. When I told him I was standing in front of it, he just kept repeating that they ground out all of our stumps. Regardless of the fact that I was standing in front of the stump while we were speaking. They are the contractors you get warned about. Our experience with them has been a nightmare of poor service and a lack of integrity. Buyer beware...
We have used a lot of contractors over the years, some good and some bad, and our experience with Eichelberger?s Tree Service has been the absolute worst. Eichelberger?s Tree Service has demonstrated extremely inept customer service, terrible communication, bad manners, poor execution, non-existent follow through, and a lack of respect for their client?s wishes and specifications. We would never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone, ever.
We presented Eichelberger?s Tree Service with very specific instructions, and told them they were to call us to let us know when work was being done and to not do any work unless we were home to verify that the work had been done properly and to make sure that our lawn was not damaged. I don?t know if it was from incompetence or a lack of concern for our instructions, but they proceeded to perform all of the work at various times when we were not home. They also did not perform any kind of a walkthrough with us after the work was completed, as has been customary with every other contractor we have hired. They expected to be paid before we were able to determine if their work was done properly and to our expectations. The date they claim to have completed the work was during a time that we were away from home for ten days, so we don?t know for sure when the work was completed. When we returned from our trip, we discovered a handwritten piece of paper that had been shoved in our mailbox that appeared to be a bill. That is how we found out that Eichelberger?s was claiming that the work was complete. At this point in time, there was a thick layer of snow on the ground, and we were unable to determine the status of the work or the condition of our lawn that they drove on to perform the work. If they had simply informed us when the work was being done, as we had requested, we could have had someone there to verify that the work had been done properly.
On the thirty-first day from the day they claim to have done the work, without informing us of their intention, they filed a lawsuit
claiming non-payment. They claimed to have called us over and over, but we only received one voice mail simply asking if we had received the bill. Beyond the bill shoved in our mailbox, we received no written notices from them, and no notice, verbal or written, that they were going to sue for non-payment. Unfortunately for us, our payment was already in the mail when they chose to file the lawsuit. A week after they cashed our check, we were served with the papers informing us of the lawsuit. When I called Eichelberger Tree Service, they initially said they would withdraw the lawsuit, but then decided that they wanted to recoup the $140 fee for filing the lawsuit. So basically, they chose to spend $140 to sue us rather than spend 50 cents for a stamp to send a written notice, and then they expected us to pay them $140 to cover their incompetence and lack of professionalism.
In conclusion, we regret ever having used Eichelberger's Tree Service, and would never use them again. We would not ever recommend them to anyone, as there are many other tree services available with excellent track records.
"We topped and shaped the tree on the side the house taking approx 20 ft off the whole tree. Customer was satisfied. The problem arose on the tree in the front. At the time of the estimate I was told to trim off the long and unsightly branches to match the rest of the tree and trim the tree away from the house and gutter. I quoted 135 to do the work on that tree. As we were working on the tree the customer said they would like 6 inches off the entire tree. This would have involved cutting approx 300 individual limbs. I explained that were not able to cut it that way with the equipment we had with us. We trimmed it away from the house and the long branches to make it a nice shape as originally requested. I then charged $40 instead of the $135. We work entirely outside all year long, so unfortunately this means we have to work in inclement weather such as snow."
We've also had trees removed by Eichelberger's twice before. We always compare and he always has the lowest price. We've saved hundreds of dollars.
