After Randy Kopp came out to give us estimate in early summer we told him we wanted to hire him but never heard from him for weeks and had to contact him more than once asking for a contract. On August 31st, without warning, we got a partial contract for one of our five projects and were told he would start tomorrow. He shows up and starts working on one of the other projects for which there was no contract. Every time we asked for the other contracts he said he really hated paperwork and would eventually get to it. The rest of the money discussions came from a notebook sheet of paper scribbled with numbers all over it. At first Randy and his son, Harrison, showed up everyday and made progress. In spite of the contract issue, at first things went fairly well, so much so that my husband gave Randy Kopp an old pick up truck for free and even made repairs on it at no charge. He also repaired his son's motorcycle for free when it broke down at our house one day. After a few weeks they started showing up less and less, to the point where they would come for a couple hours maybe 2 or 3 days a week. One day he didn't show up when he said he would be there and we coincidentally ran into him and his free truck at a supply house. He didn't even acknowledge us and we were only greeted by his son. He eventually told us he had too many other people waiting for him but would still get to the rest of our projects eventually. It is now November, the weather is getting colder and we are not even halfway through the five projects we were told would be done this season. We started contacting other masons for estimates because Randy had become unreliable and we were tired of waiting to find out if our work would get done or not. When he found out that we were looking elsewhere he became angry and showed up only to get what turned out to be his last check. That day we explained to him that we talked to other masons because he was too busy and we needed to get things done before winter, and that he was still welcome to do our projects if he could meet that timeline. He then said that he would continue working on our projects and would order materials for the next phase. But that did not happen and it was the last time we ever heard from him. We tried contacting him 2 weeks later and he never responded. Not only did he not finish what he started and left us hanging, but the quality of his workmanship also came into question when more than one mason we contacted for estimates saw his work. They pointed things out that were unacceptable according to the experts and one even said he would have fired him on the spot because of the poor workmanship. There were other incidents and issues along the way but, basically, we were more than fair and patient with this guy and treated him and his son really well in an effort to maintain goodwill. He claimed to want to teach his son a good work ethic, but Randy Kopp did not deliver quality craftsmanship, he did not value customer relationships, and did not have the integrity to keep his word. We would NEVER recommend Kopp Masonry!

Very well all around.  We bought a house on a creek and had it raised to minimize the likelihood of flood damage.  Unlike several other masons consulted, Kopp demonstrated an awareness of what was involved and a familiarity with current building codes. This project didn't involve fine stone work, but was tricky because he had to work around 8 steel beams while the house was up, meaning the new courses had to be added somewhat piecemeal, and then completed from underneath after it was set back down.  The foreman from Wolfe, which did the lifting, took the trouble to say that we had found a good mason.
We made some changes and additions as things progressed, and Kopp was flexible and helpful in figuring things out.
