Handyman Service
The work was completed about a month ago, and
one of their workers returned to finish adding a silicon seal to the edges of
the bathroom vanity. He accidentally
plugged in an oil fragrance wall unit upside down above the brand new granite
vanity counter. This warm oil proceeded
to drip all over the granite counter.
This problem was not discovered for about 10 hours when I returned home
from work. This extended time period
allowed the oil to be absorbed into the granite to create a prominent dark
stain on the counter measuring approximately 7inches by 7.5 inches.
I immediately contacted one of the owners of the company,
Wendy Morgan, to inform her of the problem.
She assured me that it was their responsibility and the problem would be
remedied. She proceeded to come to my
home to apply a paste of baby powder and acetone. This paste was allowed to set on the counter
for a number of hours with the intention of having the paste absorb the oil
from the granite. It was applied on
three separate occasions. Some of the
oil was removed, but there is still a significant stain on the granite. On the second paste application, Wendy stated
that if this remedy did not solve the problem she would have a professional
granite expert come to the house to apply a commercial solution. If the professional was unable to remove the
stain, Wendy said the company would replace the granite vanity counter.
The paste did not remove the entire stain and the
remaining stain measures 4 by 7 inches.
Morgan Specialty did not send out the granite expert to examine and
remove the stain. And they have not
replaced the counter. They also did not
do a thorough job of removing the remnants of the paste and the edges of the
counter by the wall are unsightly.
