If you don't mind last minute closing delays, then Wells Fargo is the mortgage company for you. We started getting them information 4 months in advance. 5 weeks before the closing date, we were told that they had everything that they needed. We called 1 week before the closing date and were told that we needed an addttional test on the property. Don't know when they planned on telling us. Because of the time crunch, the buyer took the sample himself and took it to the lab. The last business day before the closing, we were told that data submitted 5 weeks before was not acceptable. ...1st Delay.. A new closing was set for 1 week later. 1 HOUR!!! before the next closing, we were told the data that was submitted 1 week prior was unacceptable because the buyer did not use an inspection company to take the sample. ... 2nd Delay.... We finally closed 2 weeks after the initial closing date. Whether or not the Senior Underwriter's requests were warranted or not, his timing was atrocious. I am not sure how long the closing would have been delayed if we had not called 1 week before to check on things. As an aside, the local rep was rude. She scheduled me to come in and sign paperwork at a time when the building was closed and she had no intention of being there. She also arrived at the closing 1/2 hour late.
