McCrea Heating & Air Conditioning Services of PA

We bought a new construction and McCrea installed the HVAC. Home inspection identified the heat pump was not working in Oct. 2020. McCrea identified it was due to leaking refrigerants and promise fixed the issue. Our electric bill was extremely high the following two months and the heat pump was not cooling in Spring 2021. McCrea sent technician and again repaired the system. Bought their maintenance plan. We had 4+ repairs plus regular tune up in the past two years. Last week the heat pump stopped cooling again. We are out of labor warranty and charge us with $89 diagnostic cost after membership discount. It took three days for them to send someone to check while we suffering 90F in our house. They identified the compressor dead and need replacement. They charge $1900 for labor after membership discount. Most likely cause of the compressor failure is "suicide" with assistance. Low refrigerant at beginning and over change in later repairs likely contributed the short life.

Blake M. was able to work thru issues created by installation in a double wide vs. a stick built house. Service was professional and pleasant. Blake kept me informed every step of the way toward project completion. Area was left spotless.

My AC was blowing but not cold. Had McCrea stickers on my unit. Looked up in local phone book and called. Had an appointment 2 days later. Tech (Mario Cieza) called in the specified timeframe, 30 min before arrival. Tech was polite and direct to troubleshooting. I had AC issues 3 years ago and it was a bad compressor capacitor. Mario after troubleshooting diagnosed that the same capacitor was bad. He replaced the capacitor, checked and topped off the coolant, and cleaned the blower exterior. The quoted repair price was reasonable ($237). I was happy with the service response, professionalism and price.

My wife and I purchased a central air unit for our first floor and two Mitsubishi wall units on our 2nd floor. After installing our upstairs bedroom wall unit they left a hole in my closest that I could see the outside pathway next to our house. I talked to them through email and text for a few months asking when they'd send someone out to fix it, they never did. Instead my father and I did it ourselves. After installing our central air unit in the basement they put in a small drain line and drilled through the side of my house. I figured they'd caulk it, make sure my basement was sealed against the elements. Never happened. Multiple times over the years I have had to contact this company for issues with the unit they installed in the basement, every time I get the same receptionist. Don't know her name, but every time we speak she makes me want to bang my head against the wall. I try to explain the problem, and she would argue with me over it being the trap clogged. I'd tell her it wasn't, we snaked the line multiple times and never got anything. Well that's what the problem is and it's going to be 109.99 for someone to come out and fix it. Guy gets out here and guess what? Whoever cut the pvc pipe that connects to our pump didn't angle the cut, it was flush against the bottom of the basin and was suctioned to the bottom of the basin. Did they take responsibility for destroying the shelf life of our pump? Nope, not covered by our warranty. How can this company even be considered professional? At this point I wish I had paid some circus clowns $13k to install the units, I'd stake my life that they'd of done a better job.

As always, whichever McCrea service person arrives to work on my air conditioner/furnace, they are always friendly, willing to engage in discussion about my systems, and knowledgeable about what they are working on. I always gets a text and email the day before the scheduled service visit, as well as about 30 minutes before they are due to arrive. This was the first time I used the tracking link provided so I knew when he was going to arrive at my house. Going on 6 years using McCrea and I have never had a problem with them.

The service from start to finish was amazing. The staff was friendly and punctual. We were very pleased.

Very professional. Very Knowledgeable. The equipment is the best I've seen for the price. And I've seen a lot of them. Commercial and residential. I would not use anyone else. HVAC companies are not all the same. Believe me, I know. Have had years of experience overseeing Commerical HVAC contracts.

The whole house could hear the vibration when our two year old Tran xv20i heat pump was at 67% work load. It seems the issue started from day one it was installed. Tried to reach out the installer but they went under. In June, I called McCrea. Mark Dzbynski came over, carefully checked everything and then concluded that refrigerant was not charged to the correct capacity. He explained that our system line is longer than usually and additional refrigerant is needed to compensate the length. He carefully calculated and addded the correct amount based on the temperate & length. From June and Oct, the vigration never came back. No one can tell when the system is on because it works so quietly. I really appraicate the work done by Mark and his work ethinics. Very pleased!

Lily was great. Very nice and she got my unit working. I'm so very thankful that she got it fixed.

It went wonderful. I was without A/C for a week and a half due to the new compressor having to be ordered for my system. I was told they would arrive between 8am and 12. They were right on time and started the work right away. Mario and Dwayne work together like peas and carrots. No wasted movements in their work. One man down inside my tall outdoor unit working, and one outside prepping and handing tools. When finished, they made all the necessary checks for leaks, pressure and other related checks. It was 85 degree's in the house, and within a few hours, it was 72 degree's. I was finally able to get a good nights sleep. Thank you McCrea. These men worked hard in the sun and heat just so I was comfortable. I have COPD, what a relief to breath. These men are professional and a great asset to your firm. They even put shoe booties on before entering my home. That to me is respect for the home owner and professional. Great work guys. Thanks again.

Lily showed me pics of ducts that need repair. My unit is 18 years old and can’t get parts. Working better after maintenance visit, but. I’ll be shopping for a new system

McCrea technician, Lily, was responsive to all of our questions and completed the checkup quickly. She was able to resolve the unknown drainage problems in the same visit.

The installation team of Eric and Dan were professional and diligent at their work. My son was the one to deal with the institution team. He has over 30 years of experience in the appliance business and knew something about what was being done. He told me that the institution team was doing a great job. My technician, Lily, was right on time. It was her first time to my home and she was very friendly and informative. She explained what went wrong and also showed me how to maintain some things through my routine maintenance. My service call involved a charge as it was Service, labor plus Freon to be added to my unit and the outside unit's battery. Since I have a contract with McCrea, I was not charged for the part that was to be replaced on my unit. My house is slowly cooling down as it was 90 degrees inside my home when she arrived this morning. My house lost the air conditioning on the Fourth of July and on a very hot day. I would highly recommend McCrea Heating and Air Conditioning Services of PA.

It went very well. The consultant came out the next day we called and we figured out the ductless system was the way to go for our log home. The old system was not working as it should and we just bought this home and didn’t want to keep putting money in and old system that wasn’t up to date for the square footage. The installers we very good at there job and very nice. We recommend them 100 %. Great job and very happy with it. Have had it for a month now and such a warm house now. Was not very impress because from the time I set the appointment to the visit promoting purchasing a new unit was recommended. Have since used a local company, who performed a more detail service. And determine that the link was caused by the clogged coil: and that the unit itself is fine. With this hot time of the season I was looking for soluctions, not suggestions. I'm glad that I received the special offer from Angie's List, which is more then enough for the service received.

Called McCrea Friday morning to schedule for a service technician to come out that afternoon. Got a call around noontime from service technician Dwayne Myers to let me know he was on the way and would be there shortly. When Dwayne arrived he introduced himself and we then discussed the problem, after which he went into diagnostic mode explaining along the way everything that he was doing in checking for the problem. Once diagnosed he explained what was needed for repair and again informed me what he was doing in facilitating the repair. After the repairs were completed he did a thorough inspection of my system to ensure there were no other issues and it was blowing cold and working like new.

Great. I am always impressed with your technicians that you send out for my spring and fall check ups. Always on time, very professional, and polite. I am particularly impressed with Lloyd (new guy) who came to my home today.

Service was excellent. Salesman sold me on the scope of work that would be done compared to another company I had talked to. Installers were very professional and worked well together and it was done in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend McCrea.

Our AC unit began leaking water and marginally working late on a summer Friday night, and then completely broke down over a sweltering weekend. We called McCrea's emergency line first thing in the morning because of our two young children. McCrea sent a technician to our home over the weekend in a matter of a few short hours. Mark was very professional, arrived on time, and repaired our system quickly. He expressed concern that the issues may continue in the medium term, and noted we may need to consider replacing our system. Mark offered to call his supervisor, who might be available to come over the same day (again, over the weekend!) to conduct a technical evaluation, and let us know our options. We jumped on the opportunity. Brooks arrived shortly on the same day, spent a good deal of time taking measurements and assessing our current unit and usage, and developed three replacement options (at different pricing levels) tailored for our home. He sat down and explained each replacement option, the rationale for each, and the pricing. We asked a lot of questions, which he patiently answered. We decided to replace our struggling system within a few weeks. Brooks remained engaged and responsive to our questions in the interim, and a McCrea team, led by Logan arrived on the appointed day to replace the entire system. The team was professional, courteous, and efficient, replacing the system in a few short hours, and kept us apprised of developments. When the installation was done, Logan walked us through each system, their respective manuals and documentation, and our new touchscreen user interface for the entire HVAC. Our family has had the new HVAC system for a few weeks now, and it functions beautifully. Our home's temperature and humidity is much more comfortable, and the system is quieter, easier to use, and less expensive to operate. We have had a service contract with McCrea for about eight years--since our last home--and will continue to have one with them. They are super reliable and professional. Highly recommended.
