During the quote process the owner was positive and open to the needs of the job, explaining multiple times how comprehensive and detailed his company works citing his years in the trade. He will bring you eggs as a gift of good faith and attempt to build trust. Following this estimate, I made it clear the desired overall outcome and finished expectations of the job to move forward. Multiple estimates were obtained and although this service's quote was not the cheapest, I elected to use them based on the thoroughness and trusting nature of our meeting. On the date of service the owner who quoted the job and discussed the details was not present leaving his crew to interpret our needs. The crew itself was hard working and did not waste any time (the crew's work ethic is the reason this review is not a complete fail). Following the job, the crew was rushing to another location and little time was given to inspect the work and follow up. Afterwards, a call was placed with the owner where I highlighted the incomplete work referring to the details discussed. In true contractor fashion - The owner denied accountability, stating the details were not discussed and the work performed was the highest quality and complete. The owner referred to specific words on the estimate used in the landscape industry. He explained that these job descriptive words should be known by the customer prior to hire (example: "flush" does not mean the same as clear everything out- per my request). The owner also declined to inspect the work himself and stated "his time is too valuable" to check a finished product and he knows the job is complete without being there. He then offered to send a staff landscape designer to quote the rest of my needs for additional charges. Be careful when considering an estimate from this service. The owner will provide an primitive hand written estimate that does not include an itemized breakdown of costs per each step of the job. The short hand noted estimate will be purposely vague in order to use deniability when questioned. Appears this is the age old standard contractor sales technique- promise the world and deliver the minimum.

The owner was very knowledgeable and honest.  He treated our ash tree and gave advice on a new tree to provide shade in our back yard.  We picked our a red maple and later asked for a dogwood for the front.  The service was very timely and the work was excellent.  The silver maple was trimmed when we were not home and there was no evidence of the work except for the improvement to the tree when we returned.  We were home when the red maple and Japanese maple were planted.  The workers were efficient and tidy.  When they left we had two lovely trees and no evidence of the planting process.  They even put the extra soil in our garden.  I can't wait to see these trees in the spring.  If we have any more landscaping to do Happy Tree would be my first call!

They are working with us right now the matter of fact.  They have been doing different jobs.  They put in a side walk floors that was about $4000.  They put in a couple of trees and they did all the mulching so it’s been adding up.  They are very good.  Everybody that I have worked with they are very professional.  Trevor who comes mostly a sort of he is the manager of the group and he is very thoughtful, clearly talks about what makes good suggestions.  His whole crew works very hard and efficient and when they are done they leave the place spotless and it looks just great.  They had excellent design sense.  The boss, Steve who owns the company knows trees and he comes through and makes recommendations.  We have a lot of trees and he makes recommendations about it what to do, how to save and what should be cut.  We get a lot of good advice.

Several trees fell when the ice combined with the heavy snow. I saw them at a neighbors house and asked them for an estimate. They returned the next day and gave us a very reasonable estimate. After finishing our neighbors trees they came to our house. In less than an hour everything was cut up, shredded, and hauled away. It would have been an all day job for me and my husband. I am so glad we hired them! Hoping to bring them back in the Spring for more trimming and support for a couple of trees. We will also get an estimate for landscaping to replace the trees that were lost. Very professional. Prompt.

We live in a rural area on a heavily wood property surrounded by very tall trees.  Unlike three previously used tree services, a call on a Friday morning after a large tree had fallen next to home during a storm the previous evening, we actually got through to a person right away (no multiple voice messages), and the owner came out on the ensuing Sunday to assess not only the fallen tree, but several other issues we had.  He  walked the entire property pointing out other preventative work that should be done.  He provided a written estimate on the spot to which I agreed and we were promptly scheduled.  The 5 person work crew showed up on the agreed to date right on time.  They spent an entire day doing the contracted work, some of which was pretty dicey IMHO working in and around perennial gardens (not a plant was harmed or even stepped on) - plus any mis-step could have resulted in a tree damaging the house.  And, unlike previous services, the end of job clean-up was meticulous (my hobby is gardening and the grass areas are golf course-like so I am very picky) and there were less than a handfull of very small/tiny twigs remaining on the entire property - impressive.

The reason I initially gave them a B in quality was because when the leaves began to fall, I noticed several smaller branches up in adjoining trees had been harmed, but not dealt with.  However, when subsequently paying the bill, I sent along a note stating such, and received a prompt call back.  The next time they are in the area they said they would address the matter.  At this time we have no doubt that this small issue will be taken care of, and when it is we would up gladly up the quality rating to an A.
All in all, we were very pleased with the services provided.  Relative to other services used, their price was competitive (always hope for less); their responsiveness top notch; their professionalism the best we have experienced; and the owner was very informative.

First of all, the owner showed up on time, exactly, to give the estimate.  He suggested several things above what I had originally called for, but they were all legitimate.  I hadn't noticed the obvious damage some borers were doing to my spruce tree.  I couldn't afford to do all the work, but they did the work I chose for the price on the itemized estimate.  The climbers showed up on time and did a great job cutting some very tricky stuff and cleaned up every stick and leaf after cutting and stacking the wood I chose to keep for my stove.  I had 5 trees trimmed of dangerous dead wood and storm breaks.  These guys are tree savers, not looking to cut down your yard.  The guy who came to do the treatment on the spruce was knowledgeable and helpful and helped me barricade the tree to keep my dog from being able to get at the dispensers for the treatment which are toxic when concentrated.  I was very pleased with the job and will definitely use them again.

They came on schedule. The workmen were pleasant and worked quickly. Basically did a good job. They agreed to add the cedar after arriving ,but didn't want to tell us the added cost, saying we'd be billed instead. That was a bit uncomfortable, but In the end their price was fair. They seemed to have a deeper/ better understanding of horticulture than 2 other companies we'd gotten estimates from who only seemed to know about cutting. They didn't clean up well in and around our cellar stairs and ddn't  fully clean out the suckers from one of the trees. There were quite a lot of them, but they knew that from seeing them while doing the estimate.

They were cheaper than anybody else. They've done 2 jobs for a tree and they do all the big ones in the area. I happen to know people affiliated with Happy Tree so I called them for an estimate and they came to look. I trusted them. I trusted the first person who came to represent them, I know him actually and we had used them. This is actually the second time we used their services. We had used them the first time about 11 years ago on this property and they have done a fantastic job of trimming everything and treating the trees that were diseased and the diseases did go away. I didn't know yet what the effects on the birch and maple tree after treatment, I don't know what would be it's effects. I'm happy with the way they trimmed the trees. Their price is much more fairer than anybody else.

They promptly and pleasantly gave the estimate and scheduled and delivered the service. I did not observe any of the workers smoking at any time. They all behaved very professionally and were friendly. I was even given a carton of eggs from his chickens.
We did not use them for additional landscaping because their price was higher than another estimate and their estimate on that work was not as timely.
Definitely recommend them and would use them again.

Selected Happy Tree after receiing several estimates and interviews. Chose them for their lower cost estimate and higher level of technical knowledge of issues and alternatives. They arrived on time, did all the work according to the estimate and did some additional items and did so per the estimate. The guys working on site were extremely professional, knew what they were doing and cleaned up all debris. This is a very good organization with attractive pricing.

I called Happy Tree when I noticed that some of my trees were showing signs of disease. The company responded within the same week, diagnosed my problems, and treated everthing. I also had four 30-40 foot dead oak trees that needed to be taken down. They came out the next week and did everything in the same day. I am extremely please with this company, the price, and the overall service. I would use them again and would recommend them.
