We had a home built in 2018, and the builder chose to install MI windows throughout the house. The windows are cheap, cheap, cheap! After numerous visits to the house to fix drafts, the business who sold the windows, the builder, and MI worked out a deal to upgrade two of the windows to casement windows and assured me that this would solve our draft problem. It did for 3 years, and now the casement windows are leaking air so bad that we had ice buildup on the inside of the window. Now, MI is trying to make me pay for an inspection after I sent them clear photos and video showing the seals not sealing. Inspections are not mentioned in the warranty other than MI having the option to have an inspection. Also, the business who sold the windows, Star Lumber, refused to do anything. I have pulled the builder into this and am talking to a law firm in the morning. Stay far, far away from MI windows.

We purchased a brand new home in 2018 that unfortunately has MI 3500 series windows. We have had nothing but problems with these windows. From feeling drafts to broken balances to ice build up on the Inside of the Windows that now led to mold . We have contacted MI and they are trying to charge us just to have someone come to look at the Windows. The MI rep told us ice build up is not normal, but other MI members are trying to tell us this condensation is normal . I have a family member that has been a manager for a window company for over 20 years and also said this is not normal. This is simply terrible quality. We had new Windows installed on our prevoius home , and for 5 years never experienced any of the issues we have with these windows. Ice buildup and mold is not normal!! These windows are complete CRAP. Buyer beware!

Do NOT use this company, they appear to be scammers. We purchased a home this past July 2020. Part of the purchase offer was the seller agreed to replace and purchase, on our behalf, 11 window panes (not full windows) due to condensation build up here in Florida. We closed on our house July 10th 2020 and the window panes were installed both in August and October. The first install went okay, all though the installer left a bunch of nasty glue residue all over the windows and window ledges that took forever to scrap off. The second install was ridiculous. I showed the so called “experienced techs” the windows that needed the panes replaced. There is a single window in each of the rooms, each window has just two panes. Out of the two panes, it was VERY clear as to which ones needed replacement. Each window had a very clear pane that was easy to see out of, and each window had a very cloudy/condensation filled pane that needed replacement. In fairness, 9 of the window panes were installed on the proper panes, just done sloppy and messy. However, 2 of the panes weren’t installed in obviously wrong spots, they removed the clear panes, broke and damaged them upon removal and left the clouded, condensation filled panes on the same exact window alone. Before the installers left I noticed their mistakes and the “experienced tech” they sent out said “I didn’t know, I just figured it was condesation from the humidity here.” Um, what?? I have no experience whatsoever in window installation and I could have told you within 10 seconds of walking into the rooms which panes needed replacement, it was THAT obvious. I asked them to put back the panes that were NOT supposed to be replaced, and they told me they couldn’t do that. They said they broke them during removal. So, they removed and broke 2 perfectly good panes, and the 2 very clouded panes remained and still do. I contacted a woman named Tara who is clearly in on the scam. Told her the issue and she said that since we weren’t the original home owners that there is no warranty on the install. But, we could PURCHASE 2 more panes through the company. So, they removed and broke 2 perfectly fine windows and are requesting that I purchase more panes from them. So, they expect me to pay for their mistakes. Do NOT use this company, they either hire unprofessional staff to install the windows or they are scammers who “accidentally” do not notice the wrong pane install and “accidentally break” the good panes, and when questioned they request that the CUSTOMER pays for replacements.

My townhouse home is in a development that is about 10-years old.  I developed a crack in the exterior glass of the lower sash of a double hung window.  Our developer had very sketchy records on the windows installed in my home.  I was told to contact the retail outlet, a local lumber company which by now is no longer in business.  I used the product trade name provided to me and I was able to search and find the OEM on the web; called them, never expecting the end result.

The best way to describe MIWD is in their performance:  they provided meticulous support via telephone and Email, detailed instructions that were easy to follow to replace the product, options for replacement product were clearly stated, price of product much less than inspected, delivered on time (to the day), packaging for shipment made disposal of old part easier, and the product fit as well as the original product.

The precision of the fit certainly exceeded my expectations.  The removable window sash was complete and ready for installation.  The sash was provided with a pair preinstalled moveable latch part that had to function with the already fixed part on the existing upper window.  Sha-zaaaammmm, worked the first time and will every time.

Our home was built in Nov. 2003 with windows purchased and installed by listed company. Over the last 7yrs. we have lived in our home, I have had to replace approx. 10 windows in our home due to manufacture defect. The defect in the windows have been seal failure were moisture has formed in between the panes of glass which of course also affected their insulation abilities. In Dec. we had two more windows that had seals failures in them. I contacted the company and requested that a representative from their company come out and examine all of my windows because I felt that we were having way too many defects in the windows that were installed in our home for the young age of our home. The representative told me that they could contact someone locally to come out and look at them; however, I would have to pay for the person to come out. They did state that my windows were still under warranty and I could have new ones sent to me at no cost other than having to pay shipping and handling. I told the rep I feel I should not have to pay anything due to I had already replaced multiple panes in my home and I felt the entire batch of my windows that were installed in my home were bad. I then asked to speak to the customer service manager, who I had to leave a message for on her phone. I still have not gotten a return call from anyone at the company. I personally feel that the batch of windows my construction company received from this company have massive defects and should all be replaced at their expense.

The space between the inner and outer panels got moisture in it because the seals broke. I was given the contact information from the company that built our home. Initially, I had a whole month go before anyone responded to me but things picked up very nicely once they realized that I involved the Better Business Bureau.
