". Thank You for your kind words. We suggested and installed Certainteed brand materials both roofing and synthethic trim boards to satisfy the customers needs for a durable ,longlasting roof and waterproof facia. board as the existing wood facia was prone to rot. We worked with the customer to install a custom roof access hatch as well ."
"We try very hard to satisfy our customer base of over 27 years. This event was a result of Hurricane Sandy a significant detail (member name removed) fails to note. (member name removed) roof is older,we did not install this roof, , and needed repairs , this is common and good maintance for a home,The roof is probably in the last quarter of its life and we did talk about an estimate to replace this roof as the thinking was this may be the right time.A new roof is fully warranted and guaranteed. We did repair work instead , and he was satisfied, After Hurricane Sandy , a major event of historical proportions.which devestated the houses in areas in and around (member name removed) property., he lost one piece of one shingle of an older roof. which we did not install and (member name removed) states he is not sure if this is the same area we repaired . We were very busy doing emergency repairs doing this time as we believe a responsible contractor would be..We did respond promptly to (member name removed) call and offered a quote.at a reasonable cost.and a timely repair. We had zero calls for leaks, during this Hurricane, at complete new roofs which we have installed in the last 27 yrs of business. We offer a complete warranty for new roofs including all workmanship and material, this can be upwards of lifetime for material and fifteen years to twenty years for the workmanship, these are outstanding warranties and we will match any competitors as we feel our quality is outstanding. We will install a new roof or siding, which will protect your property from Hurricanes, Snows , Nor'Easters, and ice. however, if one piece of one shingle blows of a older roof ... which we did not install...during a major hurricane...in an area we did not repair.... and we offer to make a repair ... and homeowner is dissatisfied... that is beyond reasonable expectations and accepted roofing and business practices ."
A couple of weeks later I climbed out on the roof and saw that the workmanship was terrible. While the worker ran a bead of caulk along our roof line, he rarely hit the roof line. Most of the caulk was off the roof line, leaving open seals for most of the length of the roof. I was upset about this since we'd paid so much for the repair. I called Paul Scullin who got back to me right away. He told me he'd send his worker over the next work day to re-do the seal. I asked Paul if he wanted to inspect the job himself since it was so poorly done as I figured he'd want to know that his worker had not done the job as contracted. He said he didn't need to inspect the work . He said, if I thought it was a poor job, then, he would send someone over to re-do it.
His worker came the next day and redid the job - this time overcaulking the seam. He did a thorough job this time - even though he used beige caulk on a white seam. Luckily you can't see the caulk from the ground so that isn't a big deal. At least the job was finally complete. However, had I not climbed out on the roof to inspect it myself, we would have continued to have leaks in the future and not understood why.
I was glad that I did not have to fight to get the job redone but it should have been done right in the first place.
"We work very hard to get the jobs done right with a fair cost. . We sent more men to this job then needed as they would be going next go to a larger job which needed more manpower. The job was priced on difficulty as well as cost of vehicle, insurance, equipment, as well as time estimator spent reviewing job and providing a detailed written estimate. A potion of job required a larger ladder with a man working on a overhang. We think this was a fair cost for a fully insured ,licensed and responsible contractor. We have been in business over 27 yrs We did respond promptly to Members complaint and recaulked with a masonry caulk.in a correct manner. We assumed she was satisfied after this.,If we were made aware of an issue with color of caulk we would certainly change this .Were very sorry there was any compaint about quality or questions about cost.We work very hard to satisfy our customers with clear estimates and always make any adjustments to jobs, a priority. Our goal is satisfied customers"
During the inspection of the work to be done, he provided various ideas of materials that could be used to complete the work and promised to get back to me within a few days. The estimate arrived later in the week via e-mail and was very detailed. Although it was more costly than I had anticipated, I knew Scullin was a good craftsman and it would be worth the expense. I committed to the work and Mr. Scullin provided an approx. date for work completion. He also dropped off information and options for the types of posts he would be installing.
As Mr. Scullin promised, the work was completed within the 5 week-window he had provided. He and his men arrived promptly on the day he had scheduled. The work was nicely executed, and the job site was free from any signs of debris from the posts replacement. I am very pleased with the appearance of my new weather-resistant weight-bearing front porch posts.
