I was called difficult by Patrick McCloskey after having had the following experience with him. I wait two weeks so he could use his workers-not have to send someone else to do the job. This meant more trips to the laundromat. I agreed. I arranged my schedule, my families schedule and the delivery of new washer/dryer around his start date-Monday April 16th. They said they would be finished by Friday. He said he would be there on the Monday April 16th start date with his crew. They cancelled then started on Wednesday. His crew came on Wednesday without him. I was told he had Dr's appointments. I needed to go over the details of the job with him. There was a door and a light being replaced and I needed to discuss this and other details with him. He still did not visit the job site. I spoke to him on the phone about the door and told him it had to be wood-solid if possible. He said if need be, he would get a slab of wood and have his carpenter make a bi-fold door.He said I might have to go to Home Depot with him to pick out the closet that his guys would install-this never happened. They were also making a platform for the washer/dryer. On Friday-the last day of the job,he still did not meet with me. A industrial florescent light fixture was installed without my approval and a molded composite hollow bi fold door was installed. (On top of my requesting solid wood this should not have been installed until after the delivery of the washer/dryer) Radiator covers that were supposed to be replaced were poorly painted. There were drip marks and bumps on the walls, lumps of spackle around a vent on the ceiling, dust in laundry room and kitchen, kitchen rug embedded with construction dirt, and a pile of saw dust in our drive way. Again the owner of the company did not show up. I told him again I needed to meet with him. I wanted him to see for himself that I was not being difficult and this was below what I believed to be his standard. The next day the paint was blistering off the radiator. Patrick said he would meet with me first thing Monday. Monday morning I get a text from him saying he will be late. Then the delivery men arrive and attempt to install new washer. The platform is too small by at least six inches. I called Patrick while the delivery men waited. Patrick said he would make it right including the installation and stacking of the washer/dryer.He instructed me to have the delivery men leave machines and he, Patrick, would be responsible for them. The washer was placed in the laundry room and the dryer was placed in the middle of the kitchen. This made it difficult to walk through and use the kitchen. In spite of this major screw up which meant still no laundry I remained patient . Patrick never showed up on Monday. In the face of this major set back, he chose not to visit my home and see what was going on. He blamed the carpenter who built the box. The carpenter called me and began to question me why the box was too small and why couldn't I make due as is or do with out the platform altogether instead of taking responsibility for what he built. He screwed up.I now have paid $2,500.00 dollars and still can not do laundry in my home. I also have a dryer in the middle of my kitchen. I receive a text from Patrick telling me I have to go to the paint store and buy a quart of paint for them to finish. My time, my money. On April 25th, Patrick cancelled again-sick kid. I rescheduled for next day- The next day-he cancels again-sick kid. I reschedule for next day (Friday April 27th) On Friday I texted to ask Patrick's arrival time. He responded by text saying he wasn't coming. He was sick and was sending one of his guys. He cancelled again. One man could not finish. One man could not install and stack my washer and dryer. One man was sent when two would have been able to get these machines out of living space and get them hooked up. The worker told me I needed to go to the paint store again-my time,my money. There was so much correction needed that he needed more paint and it took him eight hours. I have been at this point been taking things in stride trusting that Patrick would keep his word and make it right. Then on Saturday April 28th he texts me about the ceiling fixture and the door needed to be replaced. Then tells he me I have to go to Home Depot and buy the light the door and the closet he was supposed to install and have all the materials at my home by Monday morning. And this all has to be done by Monday or he will continue to loose.I reminded him of our conversation about the door being wood and his suggestion to have his carpenter make one if he could not find one.(BTW it is a stock item that is $50.00 more that the one he installed) He said it was a misunderstanding and that he talks to a lot of people about a lot of things. I did not have the time over my weekend to round up all this material and did not have a way to get such large items to my home by Monday morning. I texted him that it would most likely not be done by Monday and that if it were managed properly it would have been completed already (it has been nine work days for what was a three day job). That is when he called me difficult and told me to keep the final payment of $400.00 and hire another contractor. The cost to bring someone in to complete and clean this mess up far exceeds $400.00. I am out $2600.00 and my laundry room is a wreak. I have new laundry equipment in the middle of my kitchen that I can not use. There is a useless wood platform bolted to the floor of my laundry room. There is spackle on the walls and ceiling.Dust every where. Open junction box on the wall. My kitchen rug needs to be power washed. He took the money, left the laundry equipment in the middle of my kitchen, left the room incomplete and unusable. And I guess that makes me difficult.
Description of Work: Laundry room make over for new machines. Build platform for new machines, new floor, paint walls.
