One tiny glitch was that he said he was going to leave firewood with us, and did not, but when I contacted him, I found out the tree was full of ants. He got busy and forgot to let me know. But I was very pleased with the work, and I am using them again to remove some trees damaged in the storm.

+ -1 moreWe had several maples and a large Oak tree that neededn trimmed to cut out all of the dead limbs. We still had a lot of damage for the Halloween storm last year. I wanted to make sure we didn't have safety issues since three of our trees are close to the house. As soon as we contacted Liberty, John called us and within the week was able to provide a quote. The work was scheduled three weeks later and the crew was very professional and completed their work on time. They were very accommodating, although this was not a custom pruning job, the crew made sure I was happy with the overall work. I will definitely be calling Liberty in the future.

+ -1 moreThe initial response was very quick and I received an estimate within a couple of days. It took a few weeks for all of the work to be completed (it was done in stages), and I'm still waiting for the debris to be cleaned up. One of the crew told my wife they would be back to clean up, but that was just before Hurricane Sandy hit, so we're not in any rush.
Description of Work: Liberty took down a dead Maple tree and ground the stump. They ground out what they could of another stump. I'm waiting for them to remove the debris, but I understand that Hurricane Sandy has them busy with other projects. I took advantage of the $199 for $400 of service deal. The estimate is higher than $400, but I haven't received a final bill yet.

I decided to use them and when the work was done, ares was as clean as when they showed up. Company was very responsive and customer oriented.

I had to call them, and they weren't able to get me in until after the hurricane was supposed to come through. They had very poor communication and customer-relations. When I pushed the issue, they did agree to come out before the storm and the work that they did was excellent.

Description of Work: We had a concrete patio installed along with a grill pad and a fire pit buy another company. The excavation for the patio and the backhoe and other equipment destroyed half of our lawn. The dirt was uneven , had stones in it and we had an old tree stump. I called liberty tree service based on their reviews on Angie list and they came out and gave me an estimate for the work. They were not the cheapest out of all the estimates I had but they were the most knowledgeable so I decided to use there service. They showed up about a week later on time and grounded up the tree stump, removed the stones and rocks and regarded the half of the lawn. Then they added 6 tons of top soil along with fertilizer and the straw hay on top. It's almost 3weeks later and the new grass is now growing. I'm very pleased with there service and already booked for future work.

He stated that he would come out with the men when they started the job, so that they would know exactly what to do. They had to come to my property twice, due to unforeseen circumstances. I was not home when they started the job and was a bit concerned when I saw that only half of the work was completed. However, the situation was explained to me and I was assured that the work would be completed in a timely manner. They did come back and did what they promised. I am extremely satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: Liberty performed landscaping services on my property. They mainly removed weeds in overgrown areas. They did an excellent job.

Description of Work: We took advantage of the Big Deal coupon to have some tree trimming and removal done around the property. A few trees needed to be "thinned" out to prevent them from being blown over by strong wind. Other trees were simply too big for the space they were in.

He then explained the best way to reduce and shape our trees and fix the problems. Liberty's people arrived right on schedule. They didn't stop working until the job was completed. Nothing I asked was too much trouble. Excellent job and very professional. We are very pleased with Liberty's work.

We had a few items we needed to take care of, but the first priority was to remove a large pile of branches and sticks which had been accumulating for a year or so (storm damage, etc.) I called Liberty Tree and Landscape Management to come out and give me an estimate on the work that needed to be done. I can't remember the gentleman's name for certain, I think it was Dax (??). He came out promptly and gave me an estimate for both items for $400. I was very happy to be able to get both jobs done for the price of the deal. A few days later I received a contract in the mail, which I signed and returned to him. A week or two later I came home and found all the work had been done. I am very pleased with the work and I would call Liberty in the future for additional landscape work.
Description of Work: Removed some junipers (ground cover) which had reached the end of their lifespan, removed a large pile of branches and yard waste (branches needed to be chipped) from the yard.

I thought that was a bit steep but went back to Angies List and saw that I could purchase the 199.00 for 400.00 worth of work and Angies List refunded me the original 99.00. Again the work was completed in a timely fashion which amounted to trimming 5 small trees that were used as a privacy screen. It was completed in approximately 2 hours. I also wanted another maple tree treated that was infested with ants. That cost was 150.00 to inject chemicals in the ground around the perimeter of the tree. Overall the work was good but the initial bill did not reflect 400.00 that I had purchased through Angies List. I was charged the full amount. A call to the company did rectify the situation and I paid the 150.00 for treatment of the tree.

Description of Work: They came out to review what I wanted to have done in my backyard landscaping. The arborist went on vacation that following week. I told him that it was no hurry that he could email me the estimate and the plans. 3 -4 weeks later, I did not receive any communications. So I called and spoke with the secretary. I actually learned more from her then the arborist himself! She had my plan still sitting on the desk to be done. A week later I received the paperwork and to my surprise I was to be charged more than what I paid on Angies List and was only to get a measley 2 shrubs, a couple perennial plants and mulch!!!! I was told that they were moving my existing plants and labor is what the extra charges are for. I asked if I could have a picture of the plants and shrubs they were planting and again I was told it would cost extra! I actually was tired of hearing all the "extra" charges adding up and it became a big production for the small area I was having done. It was just awful and not worth it. The guy that I was speaking to Dax became ignorant and I told him I was not going to deal with a company that does not respect or services their customers in a timely manner. Thank goodness Angies List refunded my money! I would never use or recommend this company!

+ -1 moreWhen I first moved into my new house in Oct. 2011, I contacted Liberty b/c I purchased a an Angie's List Big Deal for them and needed help tackling the very overgrown yard in the new home we'd purchased. I got a quote from Mike and for landscaping services, it was going to be too pricey - or I thought that for what we needed (basically someone to clean the overgrowth and debris) we could find someone from the neighborhood to do it for much cheaper (we did). However, we also had a large apricot tree in the back yard that hadn't been tended to/trimmed in years. I told Mike we weren't prepared to do the work then, but would like to re-visit in the Spring. Mike courteously followed up by phone several months later, and I scheduled a date to do the tree trimming this past April (2012). He showed up on time with a crew, and set out to do the job. Given the state of the tree, Mike wasn't sure it would thrive/live, but it produced a huge amount of apricots this summer, so apparently the trimming helped its health! The price was still a bit costly. Overall, good experience (but expensive), and I would definitely call Mike Duffy again.

Description of Work: They trimmed a holly tree in our city backyard. They were very responsive when coming for the estimate and scheduling the work. A two man crew came for 3 hours. They climbed all over the tree and my neighbors' yards to get the trimming job done.

+ -1 morePurchased The Big Deal after visiting their website and making sure that they provide service in my area. Their website states that they do indeed provide service to my county. I called and left message to make an appointment for an estimate. I was called back the same day. However, I was informed that they do not provide services in my area even though their deal came up with my zip code and their website states they cover my county. His response was that my county was "a big county" and they don't cover all of it. He also stated that the error was with the zip code and that it shouldn't have been included when posting his deal. Either way, services were not performed but I was able to get a quick refund from Angie's List. Either you cover an area or you don't. If you don't cover all of it, then you need to state that you only cover parts of it. I've run into this with other contractors and it's very frustrating.
