We woke up to the sound of running water in our basement, and found our floor covered with water.  I contacted my local water company and they came out and shut off my water at the street.  I contacted Hughes Plumbing about 8:00 AM and was told they would be at my house in about 15 minutes.  They arrived when promised, identified the problem, corrected it and had the water back on in my home by 10:00 AM.

I was extremely impressed with their punctuality, professionalism and the fairness of their pricing.

We always prefer to use local companies and Hughes will be our go to Plumber.

From the initial communication with Tim Handford of Greenville, SC, everything went extremely smoothly.
While waiting on communication from a local contractor regarding a discovery of rotted flooring underneath a ground floor bathroom area, my insurance inspector requested we have a local plumber remove the toilet pan to allow him to check on the cause and damage and evaluate what they would pay for restoration.

Via Angies List, I came across 1-800-Plumber, who had advertised extensively in the past year. Tim Handford had an excellent reference, so I gave him a call, and him and I met; he looked at the job and asked if he could price for the total work. I thought that might be useful as I still had not heard from my expected source. Tim's price seemed quite fair to me, so I more or else settled for him if the price was a match with my insurance provider. The inspector came the next day and priced the job. Of course, his price was lower than Tim's and a meeting was arranged to try and agree on the price; they met and a compromise was reached, settled, and agreed.

Tim arranged for a local tradesman to work with him and the work began a week later. The work was completed in approximately 10 working hours total, with complete focus on the work on hand, complete cleanliness and removal of debris as it gathered. We are delighted with the quality of the finished product, and the minimum disruption incurred to our private lives. The only question I had was in the insurance inspector's agreed price with 1-800-PLUMBER, he had wallpaper included while the contractor had none, and had no listed matching items to substantiate the agreed matching price. It would have been nice to have had a match so we could have had the ability for a reduction in price due to not requiring a change in wallpaper, especially as the contractor required an extra cost for the chosen floor tile which the inspector has agreed to pay.

Overall, I would select 1-800-PLUMBER again, as promptness, workmanship, and communication was excellent other than the lessons learned, which in future, would not be an expected problem.

Had them replace water line from well into my house and have used this company for several years to do leak repairs on my house as well as my rental house. I live in a mobile home so the home sits above ground on a pier and beam foundation. Plumbing problem started when I had a bad leak between my well house so I decided to replace the entire line into the house and added a sand filter to the line which they installed as well. Hired Shreiner to do the job, which they did, and they did not fill in the trenches dug in my yard multiple times before they took care of the issue. The primary problem happened with the bad freeze in February of 2011 and I discovered that they had installed the water line under the house ABOVEGROUND with a minimal amount of insulation and the sand filter was barely insulated at all. The sand filter froze and broke and the entire water line under the house was an icicle. Called Shreiner to complain and they said it was my fault because my siding was inadequate and they refused to fix the problem caused by their error. The sand filter was a total loss and discarded and all they did was to bypass the sand filter with new plumbing for full price. I do give them credit for being very prompt and courteous BUT their work does not back up their promises. Just found out that 1-800-plumber is also Shreiner plumbing and will discontinue all business with both. Use this company at your own risk.

Company responded propmptly and service tech arrived on time....but the flat price along with the assessment fee was well over $200 for about 10 minutes of work. Most disappointing was the know it all attitude of the technician...I truly felt like I had been "schooled" professional advice is okay....but lose the attitude. And I have no interest in hearing horror stories about other customers nor am I interested in any upsell for overpriced chemicals that the tech admitted really dont work. They got my service ....this time...but will not in the future.

Technically, the job was performed very well. The problems were in the pricing after problems started being found. The original job was quoted at $ 200+, and I ended up with a bill for $ 1200+. $ 800 was the negotiated price after I balked at the revised price for 3 hours of labor which included 2 trips to the shop to get materials. My problems with the company are over pricing, not the workmanship. I called this company because I used them years ago at another residence. I did not have the pricing issues then. They now do business under the 1-800-PLUMBER name instead of Brookhaven Plumbing.

I've used Brookhaven before with good results at decent rates. But I got sloppy and didn't ask beforehand what the cost would be to install a K faucet. I was astonished when told upon arrival that their flat rate charge for the job was $250. Mike (who really seems to know his stuff and will do the best job possible) finished in less than an hour, even with a unexpected complication. Then again, maybe I'm just naive about plumbing costs. I've learned my lesson...

They have been my plumber for 20 years. Their quality is excellent. They are prompt and here when they say they will be. They are friends of mine and are fair business people. The pricing is normal; it is reasonable. I will continue to use their services.

My original drain pipe collapsed so sewage was backing up into the basement sink and first floor toilet. Hughes came out, confirmed the problem and scheduled a three men crew to replace the pipe and seal the old pipe and install a new drain. They brought two trucks and worked in hot conditions to do all that was necessary to restore the drainage system to the house. They also corrected the gutter that no longer was draining into a drain. They got the permits for the job and brought out more men to restore my functional plumbing the same day. The next day they scheduled sealing and cementing and the inspection. All the men on the job were competent, polite and knew what they were doing. Overall I would give them the highest rating for professionalism.

They came very quickly and got to work. Immediately they found the leak and had it fixed in no time. The guy was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job cleaning up. In fact, I just called them to do more work.

With this company being in business for over 25 years I was not surprised by the great customer service I received. They are truly a great company and really care about their customers. I have recommended them to other people and they were as pleased as I have been.

He didn't clean up very well, but the job was done and it didn't take too long.

Great customer service. Promptly returned my call to set up appointment. Arrived on time and did quality work very efficiently. Very friendly and explains the work that needs to be done in a respectful manner.

I'VE USED THEM FOR TEN YEARS AND THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE.
