I called for an appointment for routine furnace and central AC maintenance. We were able to arrange an appointment for the next day. He arrived on time and performed the service. He found a problem with the AC that I didn't know about and was able to replace the broken part as part of the service call. This saved a lot of money since I didn't have to have him out for a second service call and was good because it got really hot a few days after that and I really needed the AC.

It was a pleasure to deal with Delbar. Paul did the estimate, which was such a nice change from the "professional" estimators from other companies who could talk furnaces and air conditioners but would never be seen again if there was a problem during installation. He took notes and measurements, we discussed the needs of the job, and he left. He came by a couple of days later with a fully detailed written estimate, including options on several items, and a time frame in which we could do the job. Once I decided to go with Delbar, the job was scheduled promptly. The equipment was delivered early in the morning that the job was to begin, and the guys were here when they said they'd be here. They were polite, pleasant and kept me informed of what was going on during the installation. They cleaned up at the end of the day, and took all the trash with them. While theirs wasn't the lowest price anyone gave me, it wasn't the highest price either, and I felt confident that there wouldn't be any "surprise" issues that would come along to jack up the price. With Delbar, what you see is what you get, and I have already recommended them to several friends.

.They are simply great! My contact, Paul Della Monica (co-owner of the local business) seems to know everything pertinent, and his judgment seems excellent as well about my needs. He pointed out all the flaws in my not-so-old boiler and the related copper tubing and many cellar gas lines in this ancient little house, and fixed whatever was needed to make this new tiny boiler run cheaply and well. He has always been on time and works hard to get things done, keeping the place clean, and having a generally positive attitude and a good sense of humor, very helpful when one is facing all the tasks of construction and remodeling a new home! When I was seeking estimates for the AC, he had the only option to really cool both my upstairs and the loft (which are conjoined) at the same time with a special unit, and he is working also with my general contractor to make sure things go smoothly once we begin the addition. He takes the time to explain what's happening and why, great for me without expertise in this area. The only thing missing are little paper booties as he traipses in and out!

The job took two and a half days. The first day Paul and Greg had the assistance of a co-worker. Thereafter, they performed all the work themselves. I liked that ... as I could see the same sort of expertise going into the actual installation work. The knowledgeable sales consultant was also the knowledgeable technician. A definitely "what you see is what you get" situation. Paul and Greg were always friendly and considerate. But, they were always businesslike as well. They removed all the old boiler and water heater works, installed and customized all the new plumbing and venting ... and, in the end, took the time to fully explain the system to me, right down to programming my new thermostat for me. Now, obviously, the proof will be in the pudding as to whether this spiffy new Weil McLain boiler / water heater system lives up to it promise. And, whether it will provide more efficient heat at a more reasonable cost. Winter is coming and I will soon know. All I can report at this stage is that I am extremely happy with the work performed by Paul and Greg of Delbar Heating/AC. I would recommend them highly. I am glad to have them as a resource.

I was satisfied with the work. They did have to come back and redo something that they had done, but I don’t know if that is unusual. So, they were satisfactory.

An outside compressor for an 11-year-old central air-conditioning system stopped working, tripping the circuit breaker. Greg, a partner in Delmar, responded to my morning call and and arranged to come out by mid-afternoon. He arrived promptly, diagnosed a short and electric sump heater that need to be replaced. He did the replacement and added Freon, which was low,. He cleaned the outside coil, and checked the AC operation. At my request, he also checked the upstairs unit and flushed its condensate drain trap and pipe. He then certified the supply air temperature and the return air temperature were working within appropriate limits.
In sum, he cured the problem. He told me that if any problems arose, I should contact him immediately. He explained precisely what he had done and wrote out each element of the completed job on the service order. The charges, while not inexpensive, were fair. Greg provided me with a clear sense of reliability and I would undoubtedly call him again if additional AC problems emerge. From beginning to end, I found his work and approach to be exemplary.

Our loft gets very hot, and that's where my office is. This summer has been brutal. Paul came out to check out the problem. First, it should be said that he was more knowledgeable than any HVAC contractor I've dealt with. He identified some issues and gave me a couple of options. I didn't get the diagnosis or the choices from others I spoke to.
Option A was a whole new system. Ours is over 20 years old, so we're probably due. But he also suggested Option B - adding a new supply vent and return, at about 15% of the cost of a whole new system.
Just before he had to leave, Paul noticed a knee wall in the loft closet. he said that before he did anything, he wanted to come back when he had time to look behind the knee wall. He came back today, got behind the knee wall, and found that the loft returns were closed by a valve in the crawl space I never knew existed. The previous owner must have closed it off. He opened the valve and immediately the air coming through the supply vents increased several orders of magnitude. The loft became much more bearable - and it's easily 90 degrees right now.
He didn't submit a bill, so I asked him what I owed him. He said, "let's just call it a service charge for $95." Great! I'm sitting in my loft feeling pretty comfortable as I write this. I'm still probably going to have him come in and install a return at the top of the stairwell. Previously he quoted option B at $1500 to $1800. The quote now is $1000. That's a pretty good return on the $95!

They do excellent work. They clean up after themselves. I don’t believe they are expensive. They are good worker. I didn’t have to call them back to fix it again. They came in, it worked and I have been satisfied. They are on time and do a clean job. They are easy to get a hold of. I have called them back since.

We woke up in the morning to find we had no heat! After a call to Delbar, Greg came out and quickly diagnosed the problem (a limit switch gone bad) and ordered the part. I was kept in the loop on when the part would arrive and we had heat as soon as the part arrived. The work was done very efficiently, professionally and inexpensively.

Overall their work is very good. They are a small outfit. Their price was excellent and the workmanship very good. They cleaned up very well and did this very big job in about 3 days, all while working around another crew doing the basement. There were no issue with any of the vents or other major issues where they had to cut through walls, etc. Negatives: I am not happy with how the outside air unit was mounted but that is a minor issue. DO NOT EXPECT SPEEDY RESPONSES to phone calls, estimates or any business like matters. I do not think they have an "office" and if they are busy they won't get back to you. They asked if they could put their sign out in front of the house......it was left there for 2 weeks and it has been 4 months and after 2 calls they have not come to pick it up. It now sits behind our garage. We do LOVE the central AC.

The estimating process was protracted, with about four site visits over two months in midsummer. Once the plan was finalized, installation of the boiler and baseboard began immediately and was accomplished quickly. The radiators had a 2 month ordering interval, and arrived in early October. The bedrooms were placed first and connected to the boiler. Thereafter, some other clients' heating needs in a cold snap took priority for a day, after which the remaining zones were installed. The work was very neat and the only leak was in a radiator, not a connection. They made recommendations for additional insulation to reduce the heat load and protect the piping.

The removal of my old furnace and ducts and the installation of the new heating and air conditioning system went like clockwork. Paul, Greg and their younger helper Mike (he did the ''dirty'' work in the crawl spaces) were always on time, courteous and professional. They worked around my schedule, as well as that of the electrician that needed to upgrade the electrical service in our home to accommodate the power requirements. They always cleaned up after themselves and today after 25 years in the same house, I'm sitting in air conditioned comfort. What the heck took me so long? I have Del Bar Heating & Air Conditioning to thank. I give them my highest recommendation.
