We have used Schaffner Maintenance on many previous occasions as well. They always do quality work.
The one thing I was not happy about was the $19 fuel surcharge. I have been aware of fuel prices over the years and most recently, they have gone down. When I do call someone to schedule work, I try to contact someone within a 5-10 mile radius. This provider is listed at under 5 miles from my address. When you receive an estimate, there is a note there may be a $19 fuel surcharge, I figured my close proximity would negate that. They get a frownie face on that. I would call them again, if they waive the fuel charge.
As a matter of fact, I did phone again with an issue that arose over the Thanksgiving weekend that needed immediate attention. By the time Jennifer got back to me, I already contacted another provider who had completed the repair.
"The 19.00 fuel charge was implemented when fuel prices went to almost 3.00 a gallon. I did not change it when fuel prices went closer to 4.00 a gallon. All my vehicles are bigger trucks that get less than 10 miles per gallon out of necessity."
The individual sent to do the work (sorry, I can not remember his name!) arrived on time. Was no drama, very professional, and worked hard all day. I was very pleased with him and the work he did. I would definitely have them come back. The cost was very reasonable.
"It is always the customer's choice if they want to hire us based on how we would do the job and the price. That is why we prefer to provide a written estimate before scheduling any work. We did not feel safe doing this job with ladders and felt it would be more efficient and safe to do with a lift. We had already cleaned the gutters as per the customer instructions and I have no doubt it could have been full again based on how many birds were on the roof and nesting the the gutters."
