Funeral Homes
the pain of our loss was compounded by the fact that this funeral home provided very little support for the family and showed little compassion. Some of our concerns include, but are not limited to, the following:
There were many children present as the deceased had grandchildren and many nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews that she dearly loved and they her in return. It was clear to our famiy that these children wee seen as unwelcome by the staff at the funeral home. We were the only family present at the home for those two days. The children were accused of breaking the TV, and were told they were not even permitted to fill a water bottle for a grieving adult.
We had 2 hours for viewing in both the afternoon and evening. Many family and friends wre present to extend their sympathy. I witnessed a very disturbing scene during the viewing time. A female funeral home employee was seen walking to the front of the casket. She pushed out the kneeler and leisurely leaned her back against the casket and the deceased's arm!!! She then chose that time time to review the following days schedule with a grieving daughter and son in law while mourners were still arriving to pay their respects. This occurred at about 8:20 pm during the viewing hours. She did not have enough tact or compassion to wait until after the viewing or to take the couple aside to another area.
At about 8:50 pm ( again during the visitation hours ) this same employee began to shut off the lights, fans and air conditioning
as she proceeded to push us out the door. She told everyone that the deceased's daughter was tired and ready to leave which was false information.
The family also requested a service be held at the funeral home prior to the burial. The clergy who performed the service never asked the family for input of information on the deceased and her life nor did they offer a chance for a family member or friend to present the eulogy. The service at both the funeral home and the cemetery chapel were both very impersonal.
We feel that Neely Funeral home treated our family with disrespect, lack of compassion and more . We hope that this review will prevent other families from having the same bad experience.
UPDATE TO RESPONSE FROM THE PROVIDER:
First, I would like to thank Neely funeral home for the reply to my review on Angie's list.
However, I am questioning why their comments were so unrelated to our concerns in the original post.
I brought up the issue of the unprofessional behavior of the female Neely employee. She had a lack of compassion for the deceased' s family. She chose a very poor time and place to review and quot; the schematics of the funeral day and quot; .Several family members witnessed the issue of concern. She was standing between the kneeler and the casket, leaning on the casket enough that she could cross her legs in front of her, to discuss the and quot; schematics of the funeral dayand quot; with the daughter of the deceased.
We did not want to hurt our family be speaking up regarding the issue as it transpired.
It was quite inappropriate and showed an inordinate lack of compassion for grieving family and friends who then needed to wait until she was done to pay their respects. This event took place at about 8:20 pm during the family viewing hours.
There was no mention in my original post regarding a and quot; coffee issue or food in the room with the deceased and quot;. I am not sure why this was even addressed in the response by the funeral home.
Later that same evening, again during our viewing hours, the lights, fans and air conditioning were turned off and we were basically told to leave, all prior to the 9:00 pm end of viewing hours.
To repeat, our concerns, we feel that the Neely funeral home and its employees treated our family with disrespect and lack of compassion.
None of this was addressed in the response from the funeral home. May be that the person responding to our concerns does not understand what respect and compassion are all about.

Response from NEELY FUNERAL HOME
"While I distinctly remember the complaint of not getting free coffee, and discussing why we do not supply hot coffee in an unattended room, I do not recall anyone coming to me to lodge a complaint. The tv in question was not receiving a signal so I turned it off, stating i did not know how to fix it. I further allowed that our caretaker would look at it, and if he couldn't fix it, we would call the cable company. I would not have stated that anyone's children broke a tv, as there were no adults in the lounge to have witnessed what occurred there. At no time is it policy to remove the kneeler, unless directed to do so by the family. I do, as part of the evening prior to the funeral, try to go through the schematics of the funeral day. This allows you to convey to others time of arrival, and the procedure for having your car placed into the procession. If you feel that your time with your loved one was not according to the hours that your family selected, we certainly invite you to review them. We remained available to accommodate your family. I realize that you are more familiar with another funeral home, that allows food and drink in the same room as the deceased; however, we adhere to the current laws that do not allow this. I did turn off lights in unused rooms, and this was done well after calling hours. I am sorry you feel that this funeral was expensive. We do give you our price list, and are proactive in discussing cost. We also provide a contract at the time of arrangement. Costs are affected by the family's choices of services and goods. In an industry where many of the services and merchandise are provided to you prior to payment, we welcome discussion on costs and options for reducing the funeral bill. Should you have come to me with these complaints, I would have been happy to arrange time to sit and discuss any issue you may have had. I distinctly remember discussing why hot coffee and unattended children were a poor decision. Your family was offered to bring your own coffee pot, but was cautioned that said coffee would be your responsibilty."

Funeral Homes
I had never prepared for a funeral before and Bob Neely helped guide me through the initial steps of probate and gave me a variety of options with regards to the actual memorial service. They really made it easy for me during a hard time.
The house is beautiful with exquisite grounds. Parking is convenient. Everything inside and out is in perfect order.
The 'display' of my mom was great. She looked almost as beautiful as she did in life. Her skin was perfect and her hair was perfect. The placement of the flowers was perfect.
They also set up a TV in another room where people could view a slide show.
Thank you Bob and Cherylyn. I don't think it could have been better.

We used them for my parents and my brother. They went to another county up north and picked up my brothers body. They took care of my mom. They are very professional people. They open the door for you. Whatever you need, they are there for you.
Response from NEELY FUNERAL HOME
"Thank you. We strive to meet and exceed your needs"
