CONTEMPORARY VILLAGE

My nightmare began when the bed bugs appeared. Bed bugs are a bed enough story by themselves. However, if you are considering Contemporary Village to rent, read the fine print in your lease very carefully! Especially the "Bed Bug Amendum". When or if the bed bugs appear, you will no doubt want to terminate your lease early. My apartment became uninhabitable due to the infestation. If you decide to leave early, you will be charged a "termination fee". Basically, amounts to all the outstanding rent remaining on the term of your lease. Negotiating an early lease termination was extremely difficult for me. It was very difficult/impossible to get a good, clean lease termination agreement without a lot of legal and financial strings attached. Based on my experience, Contemporary Village is not a tenant/customer friendly landlord. When something went horribly wrong with my apartment (such as the bed bug infestation) there was very little empathy or flexibility with the terms of the lease. The property manager was unwavering, and provided no relief from the mandates of the lease. Regardless of how deplorable my living conditions became. My suggestion to anyone considering Contemporary Village to live. Save yourself the trouble, and don't rent here! There are plenty of other apartments in the area with better quality in the same price range. There are a wide range of apartments in the same town, and surrounding area with much better value. Contemporary Village was a very expensive mistake for me.
