Adler Tree Service
About us
Adler tree service was founded in 1978 by William (Bill) Adler. Bill built the "1-man" company by providing great service at a great price with a personal touch. That is still true today. Although larger and able to provide a wider range of services, we at adler tree still focus on the "personal touch" when working with our customers. Our pricing structure and capabilities enable us to really mean "no tree too big and no job too small." The majority of our work comes from repeat customers that include: airports; golf courses; municipalities; penndot and a host of homes though out western pennsylvania. Repeat business in the tree industry is hard to accomplish as many of our customers only need us once every few years. We work very hard to do a great job that you will remember us for the next time you need tree work performed. Because of our skilled workers and equipment, we conduct some of the most technically difficult and dangerous tree work in the area. At the same time, we're also there to prune Ms. Maggie's trees in the fall. In all cases, our dedicated workers will perform the job safely and clean-up the job site when we are done. We have a certified arborist on staff and will be happy to provide you with a free estimate for completing your work. We look forward to the opportunity to reach new customers and will happily provide you with references to gain your confidence in our company's ability to do your work.

Adler had to postpone almost 6-9 months because of problems with their crane and finding a power-line certified climber to do that work. I really had to keep in contact with Adler to remind them to get back to me and they finally were able to fit it in their schedule. The day they arrived, cars blocked the street because they forgot to get a permit to block parking in front of the house, a big oversight but they were able to come back and block the street and start work over the next two days. Their climber was amazing and knew what he was doing. The crane removed chunk after chunk of limbs carefully over the yard and street. This company really knew what they were doing. It was a very expensive job and in the end they didn't have to go over the wires or deal with them because they were able to remove a sapling from my neighbors yard to have the crane move in from the side. I'm not sure it was a value for the job of two days given it was their own crane BUT given the fact that every company backed out of the job, I am grateful that Adler did it and did it very well. If you have a challenge on your hands and other companies are giving you the run around, called them!
make things more difficult there is a fence that also limits the access. The tree was close to the fence so he told me they could get a crane close to the fence on my front lawn. The estimate that he gave me looked reasonable to me.
The day that they came to remove the tree, they arrived at the agreed time. They worked for throughout the day until the tree and stump were removed. I am happy with the job performed.
A couple of notes: they weren't the most punctual. Their crane equipment is enormous and well suited to the task of handling large trees close to houses. The downside to this is that I expect the majority of their business is very large jobs, and I had the impression at several points in the job that we were back-burnered when more pressing emergency work came up. Due to a series of... miscommunications?... the stump grinding job dragged on for several months. In the interim, they had forgotten to bill me the $10K+ for the original job, and I eventually had to remind them that they owed me several stumps and I owed them a pile of cash.
Also related to the equipment size: be prepared for minor damage to your driveway if they're bringing in the big guns. We were warned about this in advance, and since the driveway was already in rough shape, the additional wear wasn't an issue. I would not suggest running the giant crane on top of brand new asphalt.
In any case, I'm overall happy with the service. Their pricing was quite fair, the quality of the work exceeded expectations, and they were easy to work with as the job evolved.
