I was only planning to get a haircut, but the stylist had time, so I also got foil highlights. I am happy with my color, but the haircut is average and it looks shaggy. I have been called Carol Brady twice now. If I wear it pulled back with a head band it is ok.
While styling my hair, the stylist mentioned several times that she is the master stylist. I thought she mentioned this a little too often and I kept thinking, "I hope you are as good as you keep saying you are". Also, with those statements comes a level of expectation which I feel I did not get.
While doing my hair, she mentioned that what I was getting done was $145. I sort of gulped at this, but I knew I had the gift certificate...... When I went to leave, they told me I owed $121...I reminded them of the gift certificate and they said that total was after the gift certificate...so somehow my total ended up being $171, ($191 after tip)....for a haircut and foil highlights. I left in shock and having spent $141 out of pocket.
Now, had my hair been AMAZING, I may have been able to justify this However, it is good, at best. And I live in Gettysburg, not a city. I have been to high end salons, paid less and gotten more ( and better services). Even if I had been completely happy with the service and cut, I could never afford to go back.
The price to me was way too high. Perhaps they could have pricing listed somewhere so you would know what you are being charged. I am still not sure how the cost went from $145 while I was getting the highlights to $171 when I was leaving. It would have been nice to know the cost ahead of time...especially since it was so expensive.
I have certainly learned from this experience and will not get any salon services, anywhere, before knowing the cost and also reading reviews.
