We called Ray Peffer at Textbook Plumbing after hearing a couple good reports about him from friends.
Our enclosed corner shower needed to be replaced so we asked Ray for an estimate. The estimate came in at about $2,300.00. The price seemed reasonable enough for the job.
The work took between 3-4 days as agreed to but the end product was somewhat less than expected. There
was no finish trim installed around the shower enclosure and an unsealed gap was left between the shower's foundation and the floor. I was to learn that this work was not considered part of the job and that additional work would be needed. Ray suggested his father (a carpenter) which initially I believed would be working under the agreement Ray and I had made but this was not the case. Ultimately I elected to select another contractor at additional cost.
What I was looking for in a contractor was someone who was able to do the complete job. I wanted a finished
product which was 'user ready' and did not require additional work to complete the job. I think Ray failed to make it clear, up front,
that he would not be able to do that for me. If I were to do this again, I would attempt to insure that the contractor understood what
I expected as a finished product and have that understanding outlined clearly in the contract.

Response from Textbook Plumbing and Heating
"I am not sure where to start here. I do not, and have never hand written estimates. Also this fellow wanted me to use a bunch of old junk he had laying around in sheds. As far as price goes my regular hourly rate is 60-65$ an hour. We agreed on fifty after an hour of haggling. He was rude and abusive and was told to find another plumber. Some months later he wanted more work done. I declined and he then threatened me with a negative review. Avoid this guy. He will mistreat you."

My furnace wasn't working properly. Ray came to the house, looked the furnace over, when to get a new zone valve and returned to replace the broken one. When I had a problem a week later, he came back fixed the problem and wouldn't take any payment. I have recommended him to my friends and everyone has been very pleased with his work.
