I'm crushed to write this review because before this last experience, I'd never had a problem with Lucky Paws.  My dog has been to the hotel and daycare maybe four times in the last five years.  The facilities are beautiful and well kept.  Karen, one of the staff, is great and you can tell she really loves animals and goes the extra mile.  I know my dog was well taken care of during my absence.

With all that being said, unfortunately, after a closer review of my most recent receipt I noticed I was charged for four days of boarding.  I thought surely it was a mistake since my dog only stayed three nights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and was at the facility for a whole 72 hours, not a minute over.  I think I'm a really reasonable person and to me 72 hours is three days.

I thought maybe I misunderstood something so I went to the website and upon further review it is written verbatim, "charges are PER night" and that they run the facility just like a hotel.  So I thought, well, if I booked three nights in a hotel, I wouldn't be charged for four, right?  Wrong.  I emailed Lucky Paws and explained the error.  I did get a speedy response that I was, in fact, wrong, and that because she was there at some point on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I would be charged for all four days (even though Friday and Monday were only partial days).  I reserved to drop my dog off in the evening hours on Friday and pick her up in the evening hours on Monday.  On Friday I was charged for 24 hours and she was there for only seven.

To add to my frustration I also paid for her to be in daycare on Monday, which is an additional fee, and was charged that additional fee plus the whole day for the boarding, even though to me, my dog couldn't be in two places at once.  Nonetheless, going into the weekend, I fully expected to pay for daycare and a full day of boarding on Monday, since she spent most of Monday in their care.

I guess my issue is that I was charged for a whole day on Friday and she wasn't  there until the later evening hours AND that the websites wording is misleading and VERY CONFUSING (after rereading several times) regarding how they charge.  I did ask for my concerns to be forwarded to the owner and suggested the wording on the website be updated or clarified as I am confident I am not the first person to have been mislead on how they charge based on their own wording.

I'm really disappointed because I just can't go back based on principle, not anything to do with the care.  This is a luxury facility so it should cost more; however, I can't justify paying for an entire extra day when services were not provided.

We have used Lucky Paws several times this year for boarding and grooming services and have had excellent experiences every time. Our dog's grooming is done exactly as requested, and she comes back from each visit happy, healthy and worn out after all of the fun that she had! They are ready for us to pick her up at exactly the time we schedule, and the owners and staff there are great and really seem to enjoy being with the animals and their owners. I am always happy to recommend Lucky Paws for grooming needs, as well as boarding and daycare.

First visit was good and I could tell that some things were overlooked, like cleaning of the ears on one of the dogs. Second visit, it didn't look like the one dog even got a haircut and it was evident that attention to detail was not a strength.

I took my 1 year old lab/collie mix to Lucky Paws to be groomed. At the time I had just adopted him from a shelter and was nervous about trusting anyone with him. Not only was everyone wonderful and friendly, my dog looked beautiful and didn't want to leave! The groomer came out and talked about exactly what I wanted her to do beforehand. I felt so comfortable leaving my dog with her. My dog is reactive around other animals and they were also understanding of that and suggested a time slot where he wouldn't encounter other dogs. All in all it was a great experience for me and my dog!

Our dog was mauled by a pit bull during supervised play at Lucky Paws. The staff had observed the pit bull behaving oddly the previous day and decided to bring it to and quot;playand quot; with our dog. They thought our our dog was passive and would not provoke the other dog. Although both dogs were on a leash, the staff person did not control the pit bull which immediately grabbed our dog by the neck resulting in deep puncture wounds. The staff had to throw cold water on the pit bull to get it to release. Although the Lucky Paws staff took our dog for medical care and tried to nurse our dog back to health, by the time we returned from vacation the wound was infected and our dog was a shell of the animal we had left. We took our dog to a vet and after two days in the animal hospital, there was nothing more that the vet could do as our dog was in acute kidney failure. We had to make the painful choice to put our dog down. Our dog did have a pre existing medical condition and Lucky Paws claimed that our dog would have died anyway and that the death of the dog within a week of the mauling was purely coincidental. Really?
We did ask Lucky Paws to reimburse us for the $1400 in vet bills and post mortem services that we incurred. Rather than do the right thing, Lucky Paws decided to disclaim responsibility. We ended up taking them to court. Lucky Paws brought a lawyer and we did not. Probably our mistake. Their lawyer immediately caste us a amateurs in front of the judge by condescendingly offering his assistance to explain anything about the court proceedings we did not understand. That was a pretty smart strategy. The Lucky Paws attorney pressed his advantage by chastising us for not bringing in and quot;expert testimonyand quot; to prove that the dog bite had caused our dogs death. Of course, we could not prove that and that was not the cause of action. Our cause of action was breach of duty and negligence. The owner of Lucky Paws testified to their sterling reputation and highly trained staff. Their lawyer also pointed out that we had not disclosed our dogs kidney issues (the dog had been given medication that was inappropriate for her condition after the incident). When I asked the owner about the special food that we had brought with us (Hills Science Diet KD) she told us that she did not know anything about dog food. How convenient that their expert knowledge does not extend to the food that they feed the dogs or she might have known that the and quot;KDand quot; stands for Kidney Disease.
We still thought we had a pretty good case, but the judge inexplicably ruled in their favor. We were given know explanation as the ruling came in the mail several days later. In a way it is probably for the best. If the Lucky Paws and their lawyer had decided to settle with us, we may have had to sign a non disclosure and I would not be able to tell our story. If this review helps save another pet owner from the pain of our experience and loss of their beloved pet, then the money that it cost us is well worth it.

They were pretty good. This class was $100 for six weeks. It is a lot of fun for me and my dog and smell searching rescue stuff this time other time it has been obedience. They have good instructors and it is nice facility. They have a dog pool. I would use them again in the future.

I was looking for a new groomer as the one I had used previously just wasn't cutting my dog's fur to my liking. She also cut his fur so close on his chest that you could see his skin. I decided it was time for a change. I was very pleased and satisfied with the groomer at Lucky Paws and the services she provided. She sat down with me to find out exactly how I wanted my dog to be groomed. His haircut was just as I had requested. My dog was having issues with allergies, so she applied several lotions at no extra charge to see if I thought they would help. He was also ready for me to pick up at the time promised. Ask for Karen--- she's phenomenal!

I have sent my dog to dog day care at Lucky Paws several times in the past 2 months and have boarded him a couple times. The daycare place is great, they have several large fenced areas and a pool for the dogs, and also a large indoor play area. The staff are enthusiastic, friendly, and very helpful and casual. They let you schedule the daycare for whenever, there's no "plan" or minimum visits. Very convenient for giving my dog a bit of extra playtime when I have a long work day. The dog is always excited to get in the car to go to the daycare. The boarding part of the business was slightly less flexible -- there is a fee for cancelling and there is less availability, but this is pretty standard with kennels. But it is great that the dog can be in daycare while boarding, and he seemed to be happy after his stay there. He was also groomed at the boarding center, and they did a good job.
