They were hired to deliver high end furniture. The delivery guys were not careful. They damaged all the items. George Moving refused to reimburse . The customers were present and witnessed them do it first hand. It was noted on the delivery slip. George moving offered to pay 37.00 in damages. Goods were worth 3,000. They charged me 470.00 for the delivery. I tried to dispute payment on my credit card to at least re coup 470.00 and they committed fraud and lied to credit card company and stated they delivered the items with no damage. I would NOT recommend using them for any moving or deliveries. They have had a bad reputation within the designer business for years now. I was able to witness how they managed to get this reputation. I am stuck paying 3,000 out of pocket

This was our first big move, and everyone at George Moving was great. Debbie & Renee were on top of coordinating & organizing. Jim, Dave, & their moving team were professional, efficient, & understood the stress of moving. Packing, loading, & delivery went very well. They all stayed in touch with me throughout the process and made sure everything was handled to my satisfaction. I’d recommend them without hesitation & hope to use them when I move again in the future.

Do not hire these people if you don't like to waste time or money! We purchased an investment property in New Orleans, LA which we were furnishing. We live in the Pittsburgh area where this company is based. We were given a delivery window of 6/9-6/19. The goods were picked up on 6/5. To be here within the delivery window I drove 16 hours with two kids and a dog. After spending a small fortune on a hotel room, here it is 6/20 I am sitting in an empty house because this company has failed to delivery my goods with no delivery date in sight. After many messages and phone conversations with George Moving and their national affiliate, North American Van Lines, it has been determined that there is "no driver to accept my shipment". I cannot stay here for any more than 2 more days as I have to get back to Pittsburgh. So, I will be driving the 16 hours back with two kids and a dog, an empty house and unfulfilled contract for which I put down a deposit $500. I have never experienced such an epic customer service fail in my life. Furthermore, after repeated requests for the owner, Rebecca George, to call me, she has not done so. She just uses her employees to do the dirty work. All she could come up with was to tell the salesperson Debbie (who was the only person who was moderately helpful) to tell me to file a claim. The hard work I put in to this move was all for naught. I am angry, saddened and frustrated. If there is anything I can't abide by is having people waste my valuable time.

I had a Horrible experience with is company. First, I would like to say that I have moved several times with other companys and never had issues with damage. This company destroyed ALOT of my furniture. Huge gouges, scratches, torn speaker, springs sticking out of couch cushion. That's just naming few! I actually had to write a report listing all the damage with pictures. Obviously the damage was caused due to not protecting the furniture which was part of the contract. Several door jambs we're gouged as well, to match the scratches in our bedroom furniture sets, at the house we are selling. Again, no cardboard protection was used which should have been part of the contract. I even confronted the young men during the move and said look what you are doing to my furniture and to please slow down, take your time & pay attention. I even called the salesperson they sent out and she felt bad, but she said there is nothing I could do. I also called the main office as well, with no help. Very poor management. They do not want to deal with the problem. I have tried countless times to settle with this company. All I want is for them to pay the repair bill for what they destroyed, due to breaking contract and not protecting my furniture. They simply passed me off to the claims department. This is an ongoing process that seems to be never ending. This nightmare is still not over! Very disappointed with this company. I do not recommend this company!

It was good. They were nice guys and they gave us the best price. The cost was great. There were footprints on the carpet and a couple of dings on things, I think that's normal for moving. They were responsive and on time. They were good about coming out and giving the quote. I don't think they can be beat as far as price goes.

1) Lost handles to our refrigerator (why did they take them off we still don't know).

2) dented refrigerator.

3) Damaged both washer and dryer including breaking fasteners on each.

4) Taped the piano bench closed leaving marks on it when tape was removed.

5) damaged entertainment centers (2), bed frames (2), hallway tables

6) Used a blanked full of dirt and debri that it rubbed the shine off my grand piano.

7) moving staff who grumbled at having to take furniture up stairs to the second floor bedrooms.

8) one of the three movers left halfway through the move.

9) Three months later STILL waiting for damage to be fixed.

10) I don't know what happened inside this company. I used them for two other moves without incident (2002 and 2005). I used to recommend this company. Now, I am appalled. No accountability, no acknowledgement of the damage they have caused. No sense of urgency to correct what they have done. THREE MONTHS LATER I AM STILL WAITING ON A REPLACEMENT HANDLE FOR MY FREEZER DOOR!!!!!!!!!

No customer service at all. Hiding behind the insurance document which doesn't mean they are going to move quickly at all to fix the damage GEORGE MOVING AND STORAGE caused to my possessions.

We used George for our move a year ago and were very happy with it from the sales person, Debbie, to the actual movers. So, we decided to use them once again. It was great as far as the salesperson, but after that it went downhill. We were moving a 4 bedroom house and a 24 foot truck. The 24 foot truck was not only totally inadequate lengthwise, but it also was inadequate height wise. It was clearly not a truck you usually use for a decent size move. That was not fair to send any moving crew - experienced or not - with an inadequate truck! The moving crew was slow and very inexperienced. A lot of breaks were being taken - and we were being charged HOURLY! We had the same stuff we had last year MINUS the boxes and some heavy furniture we sold in the past year. It took this crew DOUBLE the time to do the move. This is with my husband finally jumping in for the last three hours and moving right along with the crew. Professional moving is an art. If I had wanted to hire some college kids with no experience, I would have done that...but I would not have paid as much. The day was LONG and exhausting. I had to help carry items, my mom had to help, my daughter had to help. If we didn't help, they would have been at our new house until late at night! As it was, there was not enough room in the 24 foot truck to fit everything, so we still had to go back the next day with my van and my husband's pickup to get the rest - RIDICULOUS! The crew "leader" did not lead at all which was a real problem considering he had a crew of newbies. The one guy said he had just been hired the week before. The guys at some points were just wandering around not knowing what to do next. My husband finally took over giving directions in the last 3 hours too. There was one guy my husband moved items with over the three hours who seemed like he was a harder worker than the others. The crew leader also tried to tell me we were being billed by weight and not hourly...I had to call the office to get this straightened out. On top of all the issues of the day...they left some of our furniture in blatantly wrong rooms, still wrapped up (ironically in THEIR moving blankets), some not assembled, some not assembled correctly, etc. At least we only had two more minor furniture damages. Basically, we paid for an incomplete move in which WE had to physically help for a very significant amount of time. The office was aware of what was going on. I was told that something would be done "on the backend" for our bill. Nothing was done. My credit card was charged. I never received a receipt. I never received a follow up phone call or apology. I emailed Debbie, our salesperson, to tell her all the details of what happened. At least she was professional enough to apologize. She said she was sending the info to the owner, but that was at least a week ago and we haven't heard anything. So, I am assuming no one at George really cares about customer service. We are very disappointed. Something has definitely gone downhill since our move last year. I gave a C because of our experience last year and because the salesperson was very professional both times.

They were hard working and professional. Because of snow, ice, ice melt and cat litter, we still had to have the carpets cleaned afterwards because even though they put a down walking protectors, they could not cover the entire carpeted areas. We packed all except furniture. They then delivered to our new home and unloaded in 2 days. Very nice people. The cost actually came in under the estimate.

After talking with ten moving companies, my wife and I landed on George Moving and Storage to handle our move from Pittsburgh to Knoxville, Tennessee, and boy are we glad we did! Our decision to go with George was based on several factors including BBB and Angie's List recommendations, their prefessionalism and responsiveness at the outset, and their competitive price quote which turned out to be accurate and on the money. Our first contact with George was with their Moving Consultant Paul Skalos. Paul came to the house a couple of months prior to our intended move and did a thorough review of our household before coming up with a comprehensive list of what we were moving and the estimated cost of doing so. He walked us through the process and how he arrived at the number he did. He also gave us his cell phone number should we have any questions. The week before the move, as promised we got a call confirming moving dates and times and establishing the method of payment, but the best was yet to come. On the date of the move, Jack Craig, driver and crew chief, arrived early to walk through the house and identify what was going and what was staying. His George moving crew arrived shortly thereafter. Bright-eyed and bushy tailed, they did a great job of carefully moving our belongings, including antique furniture and several very heavy items, from the house to the truck. In six hours time, the van was loaded. Jack promised to meet us in Knoxville two days later. On the appointed day, Jack was early again. Again he and I walked through the house, this time to familiarize him with the layout and identify where various furniture items were to be placed. A local moving crew handled the unloading with Jack and under his supervision. One telltale sign of the quality of a man and a company is how adversity is handled. There was one damaged item in the move. Part of an easel was broken some where along the line. When discovered, Jack immediately brought it to my attention, apologized, and explained how it would be made right. I couldn't ask for any more than that. George Moving and Storage is the real deal. I appreciate their professionalism and recommend them highly and unequivocally.

I had packed up everything myself. When loading my belongings they did this very carefully. The items made it without damage. Nothing was missing which is a big plus. They overall experience with them was that they were very professional, thorough, punctual, and courtesy. I would highly recommend their services to others and I would use them again.

They did a really good job. They were there when they said they would be. They packed everything the first day, packed the truck the second day, and moved us the third day. It was excellent. I thought their pricing was fair. The movers were fantastic. The guys couldn't have helped us more if they wanted to.

The person who did the packing the day before, Jack, was fantastic. Also, the people over the telephone are nice enough. The move was longer than estimated, but only by an hour, so that was not too bad. The four movers were professional and honest. However, the biggest negative is that they did damage a piece of furniture that cost around $1500. Also, every other piece of expensive furniture (wood table, shelving, etc. over $1000) was damaged in some manner. It may have been a scratch or so on a leg, but it was still damage. Overall, I would hire someone else, but in a pinch, I would use them again if I did not have anything valuable to move.

The workers were polite and did a decent job but what infuriated me was that one of the owners (or high level management people) showed up after the job was complete, commented on how expensive our new home looked, and told me the final bill was several thousand more dollars than the estimate. He gave no apparent reason for the change and to this day, I'll never know why I paid him except we were exhausted and wanted to get on with all the work at hand in getting settled into our new home. In my opinion, this guy was a con artist and I would never, ever consider using them again and would recommend everyone else steer clear of them as well

Despite the high estimate, we are experienced movers and were confident that with adequate preparation we could reduce by 30-50% the time required by the crew, and therefore not approach the high end of the estimate of $1,300. Preparations included prior disassembly of nearly all furniture, movement of 85-90% of boxes at the origin to first floor from the basement and 2nd floor, prior installation of shipping bolts on front-load washer, selling some bulky items prior to move, etc. We also made compromises during the move, agreeing to haul some of the bulky items ourselves in a minivan, and about half way through the unloading, deciding to stop sending boxes to their actual destinations, and simply having them dropped off on the first floor to save time. The 4-man crew headed by Chris that arrived on June 25, 2008 worked extremely hard, but they were ill-equipped and woefully inexperienced. Rather than a professional moving crew, this was a group of four guys who could carry heavy stuff, which I could have gotten by asking a few friends and providing pizza and beer. They arrived without back braces, gloves, steel-toed boots, or water besides what we gave them. They had a single appliance strap, which they wrapped around their hands rather than bearing the weight over their shoulders. There was no stair-climbing hand truck, despite our noting that we had multiple sets of stairs at both the origin and destination. The moving truck they arrived in was barely big enough to hold our move. Quite a bit of time was spent trying to figure out how to fit it all in a single load, whereas a properly sized truck could have been packed and unpacked in much less time. We have moved seven times in the last 10 years, including two cross-country moves, so we have a relatively small footprint, and have gotten really good at packing. We knew that this was a deceptively complex move: steep outdoor stairs at both origin and destination, narrow multi-floor stairways and landings at both places, and extraordinarily bulky items like the washer and the desk. We agreed to spend a lot of money so that these would be the movers responsibility. We are now out $1,200, but the problems which we foresaw, we had to solve; this crew was not capable of handling them. To say we are unsatisfied with our experience would be a dramatic understatement, but to blame the crew for their lack of experience would also be incorrect. This crew worked very hard. The blame has to fall on the estimator and on George Moving for not providing an experienced crew chief or adequate equipment. Our impression of what happened is that our move got loosely classified as simple and was assigned an inexperienced crew. However, we paid a premium for George s experience and professionalism, qualities we absolutely did not receive. We paid a premium rate for far more time than was necessary.

Everything went very smoothly. The two gentlemen sent out treated the house and furniture very well. There were no dings and no scratches. They are just really nice people. They had the truck loaded in Pgh in about 1 1/2 hour, and then unloaded in Slippery Rock in less than an hour. The rate was a little higher than I thought (was very close to estimate given) but was explained with estimate that anything over 40 miles was treated as an interstate move, and that bumped up the price.

The company was extremely responsive and flexible. We moved on July 3, and many companies wouldn't even consider trying to make the schedule work. George Moving did. The guys who did the work (Jim, Brad and Eric) were polite, professional, fun and very, very careful with our things. Unlike our previous experiences, these guys were happy to be helping and they worked their ...es off in the heat. I highly recommend them.

They man who did the estimating was very knowledgeable. My previous move was done with a semi-trailer, which was too big for the townhouse community roads. This time, he sent 2 smaller trucks that were more manageable for my area. I appreciated that consideration! The men were very nice, and very efficient. They unloaded my storage facility in 1.5 hours and packed almost all of it into the one truck. Amazing! Unloading took much longer, as I have 3 levels to my house, but they were very professional - no complaining about the stairs! They put down plastic sheeting to protect the carpeting in the halls and on the steps. Nothing was broken. They came in well under the estimate.
