Great Valley Pool Service

We have used Great Valley Pools for 16 years and have always had impeccable service. They quickly adjust to our desire to have the pool balanced with as few chemicals as possible. They provide repairs in a timely manner. Steve was great this year.

The service at that appointment was fine. However, I had a problem afterward so I called Matt up to see what I should do. He insinuated that I was saying that HE had caused the problem. That was not the case at all. I just didn't know who to call to get it fixed.   He said he would get back to me about what to do, but never did. I had to call a couple of times and leave messages, but I was left to figure the issue out on my own. This year, I decided to forget about the misunderstanding and called them to open the hot tub.  I was told he would call within 2 days, but he never did. Fortunately I was able to get a quick response from another company. Avoid using Great Valley, if possible. They don't have very professional lines of communication.

They did a great job and we are very satisified.

We have had continuous problems this year. Settings were wrong which meant we could not heat the spa for a week. We have had ongoing problems with the pool not being kept clean. The pool is once again going green. This is a difficult company to communicate with as they want everything done through their web site.

As in other reviews, we used Great Valley Pool Service because they were the provider for Anthony Sylvan Pools. (We put in our pool 12 years ago.) We were very happy the first few years. Rich was always very helpful and responsive.
Unfortunately the service has drastically declined in recent years. We have the company open and close our pool and spa each year.
Whomever, answers the phone is short and ill-tempered and behaves as is they are bothered by the call.
The past few years we have always had a problem when the pool is opened in April. Usually one of the pump motor valves is left in the wrong configuration. In addition this year, they failed to reinstall the vacuum filter. When we called about the missing filter, the man that we spoke to was very defensive about the missing filter, and was all but accusing us of trying to get a free $100.filter. He said he would call back in a "few days" and never did. We eventually found the filter which was left in shed from where they left it in the fall.
We are parting ways with Great Valley Pool Service. There are many other options.

We have used Great Valley Pool based on a recommendation from Angie's list for the past several years. Their performance was great the first year but has steadily fallen off while their bills have skyrocketed and their responsiveness and professionalism have plummeted. The attitude of most of the people who answer the phone is discourteous and unhelpful. Rather than try to deal w them for the remainder of the season (about a month), I am looking for another pool company to help us.

They had a very professional all inclusive of services on the website, I liked their approach, and what they offered, and their stores are very convenient. They were very responsive to make the commitment when I called them during the week.

Not great. They use GPS with the drivers to tell where they are and how long they are at a address. However if no one is home to watch the chicken coop then you know what happens!

Overall the service was OK, but the pricing was way out of line.  When I spoke to one of the owners about it, she basically said "too bad".  I will not use them again.

The owner, Rich, did our orientation and was very nice and knowledgable. The crew that showed up to do the work over the years was ok, they were polite and showed up on time. As the years went on, I started to have more and more problems with pump pressure and low water levels. The guys they sent out clearly did not have enough knowlege to figure out my problems. Long story short, my pool system was never really cleaned and maintained correctly and after many years this began to take it's toll. Add to that the front office is horribly mismanaged. The woman who answers the phone and schedules appointments has a major attitude problem. She was UNBELIEVABLY rude to me and in 2007 actually hung up on me! Then I found out she is Rich's wife (poor Rich!). I had had it. I was fed up with paying for service call after service call and not getting the problems fixed. AND being treated like I was either an idiot or just a pain in the you know what. I found Lilly Pool and Spa through Service Magic and have been happy ever since. I would never recommend Great Vally Pool to anyone!

They showed up when scheduled and did a good job. I watched them carefully, and have since done my own closings. The education alone was worth the price. I also use this company for weekly water tests at their store and for the purchase of chemicals and equipment. They have been very supportive as I learned from scratch how to take care of a pool. I could not have been in better hands. This is a family owned business, and they do a good job of servicing their customers.

They were very friendly and helpful. I just moved into this house and this is my first pool, so I was truly a beginner. I asked if they would mind teaching me about my pool and all the equipment and they were very helpful. They took the time to show me all the equipment and how to use it. They also showed me how to simple preventative maintenance. I know I said it already, but I have to say it again... they were very friendly and helpful. I could not have been more pleased with my experience and I will certainly use them again.

They are giving us a quote for a job that we are bidding out right now and the scheduling was a little clunky. They are responsive and timely, they provide good quality work, and they are reasonable guys. I haven?t had any problems with their prior work which is why I asked them to bid on the current job.

The young men they send are generally pleasant and competent but the total bill seems out of line. I also felt that there was a lack of interest in explaining to me what the available options were and that - although the young men knew, they were not allowed to communicate what they knew. Our pool was very dirty and it clearly would have been better to drain and acid wash than to make somany man hours dumping chemicals, and vaccuming multiple times at a high hourly rate.
