The service went well an fine. Very simple job. They came on time. They were very pleasant and that was it. It was less then 15 minutes. I would use them again in the future.
very expensive and did not clean-up carpeting full of lint
Dryer Vent Wizard is the absolute worst! We live in a loft and th
dryer vent pipe is exposed and easily accessed. I was originally quoted $75. by
Chris Zoto, the franchise owner on the phone and scheduled an appointment for
next day November 30th based on that price. Dryer Vent
Wizard came Chris Zoto said he did the work then proceeded to charge me $195.
for the cleaning, $30. for a “Lifetime Guarantee” (something I would never have
purchased, but was told by Chris Zoto the franchise owner, was mandatory, though
it is priced at $29. on the Service Invoice!) and $18. sales tax (that should
have $17.92) for a grand total of $243.00!! Not the $75.00 I was originally
quoted!
Guess what …. on December 16th condensation was dripping from the dryer
vent pipe again because it was still clogged! I called Chris Zoto of Dryer Vent
Wizard; he came out again and said he cleaned it all out this time. That same
evening I did laundry and again condensation started dripping from the dryer vent
pipe, because it was still clogged!
I immediately phoned Chris Zoto and told him that the dryer vent pipe
was still clogged; he refused to come out unless I paid an additional fee and
rented a lift so that he could access the vent from the outside! So much for
that “Lifetime Guarantee”! I asked to have the entire $243.00 refunded since he
failed to do the job, he refused; he called me an “old hag,” shouted
obscenities at me, and then hung up on me! His wife called and attempted to
apologize for him, my husband spoke with her; he told her of her husband’s
forcing the “Lifetime Guarantee” on us, but now that we had it, come clean the
dryer vent pipe, she refused unless we paid an additional fee! My husband then
asked for a complete refund, she refused.
After numerous phone calls and messages to Dryer Vent Wizard’s headquarters,
they NEVER called me back. My advice to anyone thinking about hiring Dryer Vent
Wizard or Chris Zoto is DO NOT!
I agreed and they got started. Eventually there were two techs working on the job. It was actually a little awkward as the techs bickered the whole time, but whatever--they got the job done. All in all, they did what they said they would do--cut holes in my ceiling and replaced the vent pipe. The holes in my ceiling were about 12and quot; by 18and quot;, and another about 8and quot; by 8and quot;. They installed a new metal pipe and an outlet on the wall outside the house.
Overall they got the job done, and done well, but a few things could have been better. First, they were dirty. Cutting drywall from teh ceiling that is packed with lint is a dirty job. I had to provide my own dropcloths to try and minimize the dirt and debris. After completing the job, I also provided garbage bags and they helped me pick up the drywall, lint, and metal piping, but they were less than enthusiastic about the cleanup part. I brought up my own shopvac and vacuumed everything up myself after the job was done. The techs definitely could have been neater, and slightly more professional.
Also, my original dryer vent had a hood on it that I assume either kept rain and/or animals out of the vent pipe. The new vent has shutters, but no hood. When I asked if i need a hood, they said that I did not, but I still felt like it would have been nice to have since I had it originally.
As for the price, I paid $842.40, which I have no idea if that is reasonable. I did not get a competitive quote, as I wanted this problem fixed ASAP.
Overall, the guys did a good job, and I would recommend the work. If they worked a little harder at the little things, my recommendation would be stronger.
