Provided detailed information on the work they were to perform. Did excellent work, very professional, always returned calls as needed, and were timely in completing the work requested. This is the second time that we used their services.

Job was satisfactory but no follow up on promise of continued maintenance. In addition several plants were not installed correctly and roots were exposed.

Mr. Dugan and his men were punctual, professional, fully insured and a pleasure to deal with. They were flexible with their timing to accommodate our needs. We are 100% pleased with the final results which make a huge improvement to our yard. We highly recommend Dirt Dugan Landscaping to anyone in need of a quality landscaper.

The worker's were very considerate. They were not sloppy, kept their work area clean.  One fellow laid the block, he had an assistant.  Anything I would ask them to do, they did.  I would recommend them anytime for retaining walls and he also does landscaping.

Initial contact and responsiveness were great. Bill Dugan came to our house and discussed want we wanted done and offered ideas and plans that met our requirements. No drawings were made but a verbal plan was agreed on. This included a low wall that would run the length of our house on the outside of the existing walkway and end with a rounded radius to the end of the house. Also, areas where the foundation of the house were exposed were to be covered with mounded topsoil and then mulch on top of the topsoil. We received a written estimate in the mail within a few days. The price seemed a little high but based on the scope of the project and the quality we expected, within reason. I called to ask if a deposit was required and it was not. We agreed on a small discount based on my intent to pay cash.
The first hiccup was when the crew came and started building the wall. Instead of a nice curved radius at the upper end of the wall, it was laid out with an angled kink that did not match the radius of the walk and looked like h***. When I pointed this out to the guys building the wall, I was told that this was because we wanted the wall to reach to the end of the house. If we wanted a rounded radius, it would not reach the end of the house. I still don't believe that this was true but those were the choices we were given. We chose to have the wall curve in a nice radius. The extra couple of feet is not a "big deal" but it is not what we agreed on initially.
Another issue was that when the job was all finished, there was still one area where the foundation block was exposed. This was supposed to have been covered in mounded topsoil before the mulch was added. Even with the mulch, there was still an area of exposed block. My wife pointed this out to Bill when he came to pick up payment for the job and he said that he would take care of it. Three weeks later, when I called, he told me that he hadn't been "out that way" and  "if you're that concerned about it" he would be out the next day. The solution was to add more mulch. I expect that as the mulch decomposes, the block will be exposed again.
During his initial visit, Bill said that they would trim the existing bushes in front of our gas meter. This was his idea and not that important to us beyond the fact that he said it would be done and it never was.
Overall, our new landscape area looks good and we are satisfied with what was done. The difference between good and great or between a B and an A is the follow up and the little details. Bill and his crew said "want you to be happy" but seemed to forget that when it came down to those little details and follow up.

He may have been a little high on price, however, the work was done in a timely manner.  It was done when he said it would be done.  He also gave me an estimate in a timely manner.  I had some trouble getting estimates, some companies simply didn't show up.  This was rental property, he came out without me being at the property, then called me with the estimate and followed up with a detailed proposal in the mail.  The work was done in two days and it was done right.  I was pleased with both the service and quality of work.

We had water come into the house due to recent storms and called William Dugan in to evaluate our problem.  He immediately diagnosed the reason:  the patio stones against the house had depressed into a hole where water collected and resulted in the leak.  They removed the stones, regraded the patio surface and laid the original stones on an angle to allow the water to drain away from the house.
He and his crew were very professional and courteous - the project was completed and no further problems have occurred.  They left the work site cleaner than when they started!!!

On last year's job we noted that the retaining wall was slightly out of "plumb".  We called Mr. Dugan and his folks came out within a few days and corrected the problem.  We were satisfied with the work after that event.
This year we had Mr. Dugan's crew spray and kill some weeds, cover the area with landscape cloth & angular limestone/rock.  The area was at the base of the wall he built last year.  They then performed the spray/cover/install river rock on an area adjacent to a property line which was an area that was difficult to mow.
On this year's project we clearly advised Mr. Dugan that the neighbor at the property line was frequently difficult to deal with and had a bizarre sense of survey results and property lines.  Therefore Mr. Dugan's crew MUST strictly respect the property line as delineated by two line stakes with string attached.  Unfortunately the crew was not carefull and some of the river rock was allowed to "trespass" onto the neighbors lawn.  This resulted in an unnecessary and unpleasant conversation initiated by the neighbor.  We contacted Mr Dugan and he promptly had this eror corrected... In my opinion a waste of the crew's time and ours because the crew did not adhere to our request.
When Mr Dugan submitted his invoice for the work we noted that he had charged us for the "call back" to correct the crew's error.  He also had included an up charge over and above the quoted price because he said he had incorrectly omitted an area of the job but had provided the labor & material to make a complete job.
We were able to renegotiate the final price of this year's project.
Overall, we are well satisfied with the end result of Mr. Dugan's work.  It is unfortunate that the several errors occured but they were over come and the project is satisfactorily completed.

I have concrete steps going down to the basement in the back yard and they were building the retaining wall.  It was not the house wall but a wall on the other side of the steps.  Price wise they were far more reasonable than anybody else.  It did take a little longer than expected to get the work done but that was not a problem since it was an outside thing.  I would use them again and I would recommend them to others.

William's 3-man crew arrived on the agreed upon date and they were on time.  They were friendly and worked diligently to complete the job in one day.  I had budgeted $800 for this job, but the original estimate came to $1475.  When I advised William that I had budgeted $800 for the job he told me that I could pay the remaining balance in installments interest free for up to one year.  I was very impressed.  After the crew began the job, the foreman advised me that the 2" of top-soil included in the original quote would not be necessary because the soil in our yard was high quality enough.  He then advised me that my bill would probably be less than anticipated.  Again, I was very impressed.  Several days later I received an updated bill in the mail from William that was $200 less than the original quote of $1475.  In short, the price was reasonable, the work was done well, the owner was flexible about a payment arrangement, and we have a level back yard filled with lush, green grass.

We had a great experience with Mr. Dugan.  We hired him to replace 2 rotting retaining walls with some new treated lumber.  His crew completed the work in a timely manner and the walls look absolutely wonderful!  They were very good about keeping the area clean even though the project was definitely one that would generate a lot of mess.  We would definitely hire Mr. Dugan again for any landscaping needs.

It was an excellent experience. One of their specialties is retaining walls. They were between 6000 and 8000 dollars cheaper than other quotes we had gotten. The crew that worked for us were very professional and courteous. They did a good job. There was a guarantee on the wall as well.
