Pavers and Hardscaping Service
Yes, I recommend this pro
$17,500
After 40 years our house needed a significant "upgrade to its curb appeal, which included the landscaping project, construction, and a full driveway replacement.
We contracted with an architect to develop plans for the entire project, then solicited bids for each part of the work.  We have been using McGettigan Landscaping for our lawn maintenance for about 2 years and were impressed with the quality, timeliness and value of their service.  They subsequently won the bid for the landscaping and hardscaping portion of the project.
Walkway/Patio
The walkway presented a few challenges - we wanted a free-flowing design that needed to navigate the existing root structure of 40+ year-old trees without damaging the trees, plus regrading the entire walkway bed to eliminate several steps over the length of the previous walkway, and the creation of outdoor living space to enlarge the existing entryway.  The media was 4,000 psi cement, reinforced with rebar and mesh, that would present a super-durable surface with a scrub finish, outlines in EP Henry red-grey curbstones (with the same curbstones outlining the new driveway).  The results exceeded our expectations in every way - what a terrific results McGettigan produced.  There is great attention to detail despite many on-the-fly adjustments.
Fencing
We replaced a three-rail fence with a scalloped picket fence, and gate.  This was an engineering feat to navigate the existing trees and keep the new fencing aesthetically pleasing and symmetrical.  There were a number of non-standard alterations that had to be made to pull the design together, which were done well to maximize both form and function.
Bedding, Drainage, Electrical
We added 10 yards of prime topsoil to create proper bedding both inside and outside the fencing and to regrade the front of the house.  Prior poor drainage problems were corrected with McGettigan's design, and the outdoor electrical was repaired and upgraded to code.  We saved several specimen shrubs in the design and allowed for the introduction of a new landscaping plan.  Again, all elements met or exceeded our expectations.
Working With This Contractor
This is where McGettigan really shined.  The owner (Kevin) personally did much of the work with his crew and kept us well-informed the entire way.  They cleaned up all areas each day and stored materials on site in ways that were not inconvenient for us.  They re-seeded areas of the lawn that were worn down by equipment and access.  They showed a high degree of flexibility.  Ultra-high integrity - they did what they said they would do.
Overall, I would say that the entire experience was positive, results were exceptional, and we unhesitatingly recommend their work.  We've already identified other projects in which we'll engage them.
