I rented a textbook from B&N online for $28.20. When it arrived I noticed it was a used book, but since it was a rental I did not mind. It is called Medical Spanish, a Conversational Approach. It is a workbook that you write in. I had planned to copy the pages and hand them in only to find out the Professor insisted we could not do that and had to hand in the original pages. I contacted B&N online via phone and spent 25 very frustrating and aggravating minutes with "Jerry". He barely listened, he talked over me and when I asked to speak to a supervisor he still kept on talking. He was not helpful and the supervisor, I think she said her name was Lamda also was not cooperative. All around lousy customer service.The price of a new book was $130.00 plus tax and they insisted on charging me for the new book even though it was obviously used. They told me to send it back and re-order it. I told them this was not possible since class was every Wed night and did not have the time to return and reorder it. All I wanted was for them to issue a credit to me for the rental fee and charge me the difference for the book. If they had agreed to my request I would have paid $74.16 for a used textbook. Many E mails were exchanged always with a different Customer Service person and there was NO cooperation. I even told them I was going to write this up on Angie's List and I have not heard back. I even offered to accept a store or online credit toward a future purchase. I used B&N because I was reluctant to do business with other online textbook web sites I just was not sure they were reliable. I have used B&N in the past and been very satisifed with the quality of the work. They have changed and I can no longer say they are a quality company. I wish I had the CEO's E mail because I would contact him as well. Thank you.
