Description of Work: This contractor was hired for a tear down of second floor and reuild. A ground level addition was also planned. There were problems such as water damage and termite damage ( which happens when you tear down walls) They were also fixed by this contractor at an additional price which was paid to him up front. There were typical problems with material ordered etc. and some changes to the original plans. By October the shell of the house was completed and framing was up inside. No drywall was installed and the electric was not ocmpleted. The bathroom was not installed ( we purchased everything to be put into the bathroom). No stairs installed. A ladder was in place. Our contractor had medical problems and was fronted $10,000 to keep the job going. It was to pay for drywall installation etc. which he was going to subcontract out. To our dismay our contractor took the money and abandoned the job. We had to hire other contractors to finish the job. It has been a very stressful situation to say the least,. paying for a mortgage on a house that wasn't livable was another stressor. We are now taking legal action!
