I've been a patient of Gabriel Ruggiero for many years and there are so many good things about how he practices medicine that I can't list them all here. He's well-educated, up on current medical practices and is a thorough and patient physician. Whenever I have an office visit, I always know he will ask me to be specific about my condition and he will be direct in his instructions and recommendations for my care. If I disagree with a method of treatment, we discuss it and come to an agreement. When a condition is outside his scope of expertise, he admits to that and makes recommendations of specialists where I might get additional information or more specialized treatment. He doesn't claim to know what he doesn't know. This visit was no different. He looked at my wound, judged I had made the right decision and that it did not need stitches. He cleaned it and reapplied a bandage, showing me how to care for the wound so that it would get enough air to heal. He concluded with recommendations for on-going care and how to watch for signs of infection. My only complaint about this practice is phone accessibility to make an appointment or to speak to a doctor. Getting through to this practice is very frustrating. There is no system by which calls are routed, so if you call one of the two office numbers and get a busy signal, you just have to keep calling and calling until you get through until someone answers the phone. The only exception to this is after hours when you can reach an on-call physician. There is no way to leave a message and have them call you back. This can be a real source of frustration if you are trying to get through, particularly with an urgent problem. However, despite all this frustration with reaching their office staff, I intend to return to this practice for future care.
Description of Work: Went to doctor for an emergency visit as I had sliced my thumb open with a knife the afternoon before while cooking. There was a lot of bleeding, but I felt that it did not warrant an emergency room visit, so had cleaned the wound as best I could, put pressure on it until the bleeding stopped and bandaged it. I arranged for an emergency visit the next morning and did not have to wait very long to see Dr. Ruggiero.

Dr. Ruggiero and his wife are very good. He is very easy to deal with and very down to earth. All 4 of us in the family use his services. We have used him for everything other than a specialist. He is thorough. He isn?t an insurance choice. He may or may not be taking new patients. He can?t accept new patients since he gets very busy sometimes. Scheduling has been fine and we don?t have any problems with that. His office staff takes care of us right away since we have been going to his office from a long time. My wife doesn?t have any problems in getting in if there?s any problem with the kids. His punctuality is very good. His staff is fine. I have some experience of being in the hospital with them and they are really good. His communication is excellent. If we call them and ask them to call back, then they will call back. I wouldn?t have been using his services if his treatment wasn?t effective. The billing and administration is fine too. I use his services if the other primary care physician isn?t available. I have no problems with either ones. The office staff generally tries to make my appointments with Dr. Gabriel. I think it makes the administration in the office easier when they have a patient.
Description of Work: Dr. Gabriel Ruggiero has been my primary care physician for over 20 years now. My kids probably met him when they needed physical done for school. I had my physical done earlier in the year. My last visit to him was in the last year.
