We also had the air ducts cleaned. We question if they really did clean the ducts as they were still very dirty.
The reason for our overall disappointment with Haller is two-fold.
1. Our sales rep told us that the unit that we purchased would qualify for a PECO rebate. That is one of the main reasons we went with Haller as we felt as if the Amana unit was good quality and the PECO rebate would help defer the costs of such an expensive purchase. However when it came time to apply for the rebate, PECO denied the claim saying that our unit didn't qualify. When I contacted our sales rep he didn't get back to us in a timely manner and when he finally did he said he would "look into it". We waited weeks to hear back from him, to no avail. When I contacted him again he said he would "look into it". I then tried for a 2nd time to apply for the PECO rebate, and again got denied.
2. We found a huge hole in our air duct return in the basement, we contacted our sales rep about this as well, seeing that if they did indeed clean the air ducts, the would have found this huge hole, he said he would "look into it". Again, no response, no follow up and after multiple attempts to reach out to our sales rep, he was missing in action.
Fed-up with this, we contacted the main office and FINALLY received a response. They were extremely apologetic and gave us a check to compensate for failed PECO rebate. Additionally the manager came to our house personally and repaired the hole in the air duct return.
Our disappointment in Haller is solely on the poor sales representative that we had. It is a shame that the negligence of one individual can leave a bad taste in your mouth. Aside from him, we were satisfied with the service (questionable on the air duct cleaning). I don't know how the sales reps of Haller are trained, but it seems to me that they promise the world to the customer just to get the deal and then once money has changed hands, they are no where to be found. Poor business model.
If you are shopping around for HVAC, I would be wary of Haller.
Their customer services was really good. The person I was working with was very knowledgeable. They were very knowledgeable and professional. Your paying more because they are a bigger company because they advertise.
Note that I had previously used a local small HVAC company which was purchased by Haller Ent. They were thoughtful enough to send a tech who was an employee of the "old" company who was familiar to me and experienced with my HVAC system. I am grateful for this foresight and consideration.
