Mr. Davies came out to my home and gave me an estimate which was reasonably priced, however, that is the only thing that went right. After I contacted Drexel Paving to confirm I wanted them to do the work for which they gave me an estimate, I didn't hear from them again for weeks until Mr. Davies called me late one evening saying he will be able to come and do the work the next day. The problem was that I was on vacation and did not receive the message until the next afternoon, at which time it was too late. I told him I needed a little more notice next time. This exchange occurred around May 12. Fast forward to July 24 and I still have not gotten a date from Drexel paving. Every time I leave a message for them to call me with a date for the work to be done, I get a different story: in fact, one time he said the price he gave me was too low and his partner doesn't want to do the work - what kind of professionalism is that??? If you give an estimate, you should honor it. Every other time he has told me that he will be in the area in 2 weeks and he'll do it then - he has told this to me on at least 2 spearate occasisons and each time he undoubtedlty does not contact me...after 3 weeks I contact him and he tells me it will be another 2-3 weeks. I do not understand how a company can conduct business in this matter. I have been more than patient waiting for this work to be done but it has gotten to be ridiculous.
Description of Work: The job entailed a small driveway addition and seal coating.

I got four (4) bids to get the driveway done and three (3) were about the same price and Drexel Paving's was almost 1/2 of the price of the other three (3). I was almost afraid to accept the Drexel bid for fear the quality would not be up to par, so I really put poor, Mr. Davies through the mill with all my questions about how he would do the job and what materials he would use, etc. He was very patient and understanding. He admitted he was challenged by our one big pot hole, we all agreed, we think there is a hidden spring underneath it, for all the years and loads of stone we have dumped into it. He explained how he planned to attack it and assured me his work would stand up and last as long as any of the other bidders I was considering. The Drexel men arrived bright and early Tuesday morning, at first startled to find our neighbors horses loose in our yard to greet them! The horses high tailed it home as soon as the turned on the huge leaf blower...they had brought a huge push leaf blower to clear away any leaves and they used it to empty the pot hole of all the water left over from the Nor'Easter Sandy. It worked great! The men were all so nice and they did a fantastic job! Our driveway is terrific! We are thrilled with the job they did and are proud to refer and endorse Drexel Paving for the fantastic job they did for an exceptionally reasonable cost!!!
Description of Work: we had our 5800 foot driveway regraded, pot holes filled and then large stones applied and followed with smaller and rolled.

We were pleased with the initial communication, speedy response from them and their written quote. We were also pleased with the way the work was done, the communication with the company while the work was being completed (the owner was there himself) and the overall job. We would recommend them and use them again.
Description of Work: We had our driveway widened from 1 car wide to 2 cars wide. They ripped up the old driveway and then laid down the new one.

We didn't have the work done right away. Mr Davies called several times to let us know that he was interested in doing the driveway work. Over a period of a couple months we met with him and modified some of the work to be done and came to a final cost for the job. After giving Drexel Paving to go ahead to start the job, it was a few weeks before the work started. The crew arrived early Monday morning and by the end of the day grading and rolling were finished. They were able to retrieve and reuse a lot of the stone that was washed out of the driveway. Due rain storms during the week, they couldn't pave until Friday. Paving commenced at about 9:30 AM and they finished by 3 PM. They did a great job. The company owner supervised all the work done and even operated the paving machine. The work was done for the agreed amount. We haven't had any severe rain storms yet to determine how well the grading works. Update: A.
Description of Work: We had a 400 foot long gravel driveway that had been ravage by the heavy rains this summer and long standing drainage issues. Gene Davies, the owner of Drexel Paving, came out, and looked over the job. After measuring the areas to be paved (only one of 3 contractors to do so) he gave a rough estimate of the cost. The work to be done included returning the stone washed off the driveway by the rain, regrading driveway and approach to the garage. The paving portion included 400x10 driveway with a 40x60 parking area. Update: It's been a few months since Drexel Paving paved our 400 foot long driveway. Prior to Drexel's work, there had were drainage issues. Heavy rain storms would wash out portions of the gravel road bed. Drexel regraded the driveway and paved it. Since the last review, there have been a few heavy rain storms that have shown that Drexel's regrading of the driveway bed have fixed the drainage issues. Thank you Drexel Paving!

Extremely well. They made special provisions to do the work as scheduled, even in the face of an equipment failure (blown truck gasket). I appreciate this "going the extra mile" VERY MUCH. And they did a great job! I definitely recommend them.
