Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical

I spoke with customer service to find out if Handyside could install my Vent Hood over a kitchen island. They sent someone 2 days later to do the job. He did not have the ability or tools to do the job. He told me they would give me an estimate after he spoke with his expert. Then charged me $89.00 for service call. After 2 weeks I called asking for my estimate. Not ready yet. They finally responded 2 days later with an over the phone quote of $4,000! Obviously, Handyside had no ability to do the job or interest in it. Otherwise, I would have received an invoice that spelled out the service in detail. It sounded like they picked a sky high number to make sure they wouldn't have to do the job. $89.00 for this service. No thanks.

Handyside was prompt, professional and efficient. They always kept us informed of the issues and always gave us three quotes for each project. When the team was working in the house they are courteous and considerate of our property. For me that is a sign of quality people. We had to get new HVAC system, installed hot water heater, updated sump pump system and then just last week the entire electrical box and we recommend HANDYSIDE to everyone and even strangers needing assistance.

The plumber who came out to install the backup was great! He was upfront and honest about any issues there were or were going to be and involved us in the decision. The responsiveness I received from Handyside throughout the whole process, along with the best price, was the reason I ultimately chose this company. At the end of the day, the plumber had to come out twice for the pump. After he left the first time, I noticed a small leak from the pump that was installed. This was the piece from the manufacturer, not a result of the install by Handyside. I contacted Handyside and they immediately hopped on the issue and only 2 business days later, they were out again to swap the pump for the new one. This kind of responsiveness is greatly appreciated.

They were there in a very short time, told us what to do in the meantime, fixed everything and explained the problem and the solution. They have done work for us before and it is always like that.

The technician was very nice and knowledgeable. Completed all the work in good time. We have used Handyside before and are going to have them complete more work at our house.

Our heat pump just wasn't cooling the house in the 90+ degree weather we were having.  I noticed ice on the inside coils. I called the installer, Handyside Plumbing & HVAC. They went out of their way to schedule to get us a technician to look at it the same day. My wife had just had surgery & my 87 year old Mother-in-law lived with us so I wanted it fixed fast.  The technician found a coolant leak and when he touched the fitting it broke and filled my basemen with coolant.  The technician went into high gear to help me clear the gas out of the basement & find me a replacement part.  The only coils he could find were in Allentown (75 miles) and couldn't be delivered till Friday afternoon.  That particular technician had a full schedule on Friday & was leaving for vacation Saturday. No one else was available until sometime next week.  I said what if I drove to Allentown & picked up the part.  He said that if I was willing to do that he would come back on his own that evening and install it.  In addition he would come over the next morning before his regular shift to charge it.  So I tool off for Allentown and true to his word, when I got back he came over & installed it.  At 6:30 the next morning he showed up to recharge the unit.
This is the kind of service I have received in the past from Handyside and continue to receive.  Brian, the owner, and his crew have not only an outstanding work ethic, but are some of the most courteous, competent  technicians I have come across.
If you are looking for great work at a fair price - look no further.  I certainly won't!

The estimate was very accurate. The service technician was very prompt, courteous detailed. We were able to schedule service for when it met our schedule.

Estimates for all the jobs were reasonable and came back quickly.  All of their employees were very polite and professional.  All of the jobs were completed as scheduled. 
The only issue we had was with the water softener.  It did not do the job as we were hoping.  The water was still leaving deposits on our dishwasher, washing machine and faucets.  Handyside had the water tested, cleaned the water heater, and rechecked the softener, all at no charge to us.  When we were still unhappy with the performance they replaced the system, at no charge to us, with a unit from a different manufacturer.  We are very happy with the new unit, and all other work done by this contractor.
I believe the issue with the original softener was due to the water we have coming into our house being too hard for that unit, not a defective install on the part of Handyside.  They could have told us that we were stuck with what we bought but they went above and beyond to make us happy.  I would highly recommend this contractor. 
Its nice to work with a family owned business that is owned by a family that cares about its customers.

The service person arrived on time, made sure his feet were clean, introduced himself and went to work. He offered alternatives that might help to prevent the problem in the future and explained how he was going to do it. A very smart, upbeat and pleasant guy.

Handy side installed a new Carrier heat pump system for me. They were among the cheapest of the quotes for a Carrier system, they were timely, professional, and courteous. The job was performed well and I think their craftsmanship is superb. Will use again if needed.

They came out a couple of times. They were very good, very professional and very much on time. They came when they said they would come. The guy did a really good work and cleans up after himself. He explains what he's going to do. That's not the first time I've used him. I've used him for the water filters. They're closeby and responsive. I would use him again. The first time the guy came out, we weren't sure if there was a water tank that was bad. We thought we might be able to get away. He tried to save me a few bucks. It worked for several months. I knew the tank was over. Unfortunately, the tank started to leak, it wasn't leaking then. I've seen a couple of different people.
