We weren't in any rush for them to be finished. We just wanted a beautiful addition like our friends. As long as they were done by Thanksgiving, we were fine. It was April when they started. Gordon seemed to always be in a hurry, selecting materials without consulting us, and stating that if we wanted something different, we would have to pay a restocking fee. Namely second story dormer windows and garage doors. The triple casement window in our family room was installed, but was not to our satisfaction, and still isn't. Each time the sill was refinished, it was worse than before, so we just gave up.
One of the expectations that I made very clear up front was that I didn't want to be able to look at the roof and see where the addition began. After the roof was tied in, it was obvious where it was. When I inquired about it, he said that would cost more money to redo it. Again another disappointment. When it came time for the drywall finishing of the first floor family room, his drywall finishers were unavailable, so one of his general laborers did it and it shows. The first year a crack appeared where new met old, and a number of screws were not sufficiently covered with compound and subsequently showed themselves. Overall, the addition looks fine from the outside, but it was a lesson learned.
