The job went very well. They explained the different options. There were two different finishes they used then and I had serious asthma issues, and they helped me decide. There was one room they didn't do and we're thinking of calling them soon, to have them do that. They were very professional and did a good job.

I would not have anyone else install or sand floors. Steve and crew are the best. They do great work, call you back and show up when they say they will show up. Very professional. We plan to have them install more flooring in the near future.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with the service provided from Dana Floor Sanding. The gentleman that gave me the bid was very helpful. He took the time to explain not only the process refinishing the floors but what stains and sealants works and what doesn't. The project took two days to complete and the crew was punctuational and professional. I was expecting quite the mess but the crew keep the mess and dust down to minimal amount. The floor look brand new. Thank you Dana Floor Sanding!!

fiI bought a house with wood floors throughout that had at one time been beautiful, with intricate woodwork laid in the living room floor. The majority of the floors were oak and the bedroom was pine. I called Dana Floor Sanding and made an appointment with Steve Dana to come look at them, which he did promptly and at a time that was convenient for me. He went over the floors with me and pointed out potential problem areas and how they would deal with them. He warned me that all of the spots would probably not come out, but his guys would do their best. We agreed on a price and got my job scheduled, which was a couple of weeks out because they were very busy at the time.
The starting date was delayed due to delays with the current job, but Steve was careful to call and keep me updated as to the progress. When they were done they promptly started on mine and worked hard for four days to get the sanding done. They also filled all the low spots and small holes and replaced one board that was badly damaged. Then the finishing process began, and from what I could tell it went smoothly.
The job went over the allotted time but the finished product was well worth the wait. The pine floor was absolutely gorgeous, as was the oak, and the inlaid wood patterned floor looks like brand new. There are places where they couldn't get stains out but that was to be expected, these floors are almost 100 years old.
I am very happy with the job Dana Floor Sanding did, they met all my requirements and the information I needed was there from the beginning. Steve Dana was realistic with me and made no pretty promises, he told me how it was and he was right. He even told me that he didn't want to do the kitchen floor because it was simply too badly damaged and I would not be happy with the outcome.
One caveat, the finished floors do have a smell to them so you'll want to do this in the warmer months. Having a fan going, especially a window fan that exhausts to the outdoors, really helped with the smell, which ultimately faded over time.
Great service, responsible, honest advice up front for what you can expect, reliable and punctual. These guys also cleaned up after themselves and left the place clean!

I was happy with how quickly they replied to the phone call for an estimate. Once I approved, they got to the job right away. It took 3 visits from start to finish and although he warned that we might find some dust after the job was done, we didn't. I'm truly happy with how the floors turned out. I would recommend these guys!

Steve Dana with Dana Floor Sanding maintains the "ol ma and pa" service style for their customers. Always making sure he can do whatever he can to do the job to meet the customers needs and maintaining customer satisfaction while going above and beyond. Steve and his crew are very professional and knowledgeable. They turned my unmaintained, 100 year old, oil-based paint splattered, pine floors into gorgeous flooring. The prices are VERY affordable. I have had Dana Floor Sanding do work for family and friends and they were shocked at the work and service that they offer and the workmanship.

They did a very good job. They seemed to have a great deal of experience he can just look at it and tell me what could be the likely to be problem areas and what were not really things to worry about. It turned out pretty much what they said. They gave us recommendations on specific concerns that I had. The floors looked beautiful. They were definitely not the cheapest. Everyone we knew said that I got what I paid for. They were really good and the quality was also good.

Excellent, excellent. They work with wood every day and know what they are doing. I followed their recommendations and as stated the end result was just absolutely beautiful. It wows anyone who visits our home. They came on time when scheduled, sealed the rooms off and there was no dust anywhere.

Hired Dana Floor Sanding to refinish hardwoodfloors in my home on 06/23/10.After 5 months, they still have not completed the work properly.Dana has currently completed his 3rd attempt to correctly stain&finish the LR&parlor areas(theyareconnectedbyadoorway&consistofthe samefloorboardsthroughtheconnection). The LR was completed in October&was correctly stained&coated a walnutsatinfinish. When doing the parlor they left a line of 2 differentcolor stains in the doorway connecting the rooms. When Steve assured me he would fix it,he wound up putting a red mahogany stain over the entire area which now created a three-tone situation where there should have been one color(walnut). He again assured me that he could fix the problem&commenced to sand the parlor&a swath of LR,stained&coated it,&then sanded&coated the other half of the LR.When I returned home last Friday,I was upset because the second half of the living room is a darker color.I WAS upset&wasn't very pleasant in leaving my message that night. But,when Steve called me back later that evening,he was able to convince me that when he came back Monday that he would buff&recoat the half to match & not to worry.Called Steve Mondaypm about LR still being two different colors..Tuesday,I received a call from John saying that the two-tone floor was fine&he threatened legal action against me. 11/17/10–I attempted 2x today to contact Steve Dana via text message to ask if I was to pay from the original quote ($1200.00) or if they were going to send me a final bill from which to pay.No response.I received, in today’s mail, a bill for $1580 – a $380.00 difference from the original quote. The itemization of the bill shows an additional $250.00 worth of work done (which was completed, I agree), but the total does not match the difference.I have both copies of the quote&the bill, as well as supporting photos of the terrible job that the Danas consider finished.
Response from DANA FLOOR SANDING
"We undertook this project after another company walked off the site. We could not complete the job in a more timely manner because of the logistics encountered in moving furniture while maintaining living space and mobility for the customer. With 5 rooms, hallway, staircase, entrance, ets., involved, a piece meal approach was employed,i.e., an area at a time as they became available. This is not a unique procedure. Our crew had to move belongings occasionally to access the surfaces to be finished. The customer agreed to this approach and it is not uniquely peculiar to this particular job. We seemingly cannot rectify the living room situation with regard to color. Wood is a natural material and variances, even extremes, can and do occur within inches because of growth and grain. Different stains yield varying hues and nuances which most customers find pleasing and desirable. The surface in question was redone a second time, (sand finish off with varying grits, stain, finish with three coats) at our expense of labor, materials, and time. We offer the floor at no customer expense since our over 25 years experience apparently does not satisfy the customer's expectations. We can furnish photographs upon request. The disputed amount reflected in the submitted bill reflects a 10% price consideration extended to the customer because he was a former acquaintance. When the final bill was figured, the original (without the 10%), amount was used mistakenly. An error with no malicious intent. We will accept the proferred amount of $911 which still represents the 10% discount and no charge for the living room floor. Yes, we stopped responding...the customer, historically, has represented himself as rude and profane in voice messages which were repeatedly left after almost every day's work...not always rude, but, in time, they escalated to that level. Our Company did walk off the job totally at one point and returned only when the customer entreated our founder/owner , Mr. Leroy J. Dana, (s former acquaintance...hence, the 10%), to intercede and persuade the work crews to return. Upon the completion of the project, Mr. L. J. Dana inspected the floors and termed them "gorgeous" while on the phone with the customer. This proved to be the polar opposite evaluation maintained by the customer. We feel secure in asking you to look at some of our most recent contracts and ask about our crews, their work ethic, and the completed service...The Erie Art Museum, Mercyhurst College, the President's office and the Conference Room, The Church of the Covenant, St. Boniface Church, Watson Curtse Mansion, Asbury Woods Nature Center, Penn State at the Behrend College, Edinboro University, or any of the prestigious private homes we have been privileged to work in successfully. Our attention to detail is evident in the largest of these and the most modest residence. Sincerely, Mr. L. J. Dana, Dana Floor Sanding"
