 + -1 moreIt went very well Mr. Tatar worked with me and Pella to get everything they needed here on time for the install, they guys that did the install were polite, neat and clean they treated my home as if it were their own. They were on time and worked steady thru the day making sure they cleaned up after themselves. Mr Tatar stopped by shortly after the install started to make sure everything was going as planned and then checked in again after the work was done. I am going to have Pella and DW Tatar install a couple windows for me in the near future. I also have to say Mr Tatar was very patient with all of my changes and answered all of my questions very clearly. He wasn't pushy and gave me all the time I needed to make decisions.
Description of Work: Installed a pella French door, I have a brick home so they had to remove a window and cut a hole in the brick and move some electrical outlets. Price included the cost of the door. High end Pella wood door.

 + -1 moreAfter an inital visit, he came in person to deliver the bid and his recommendation. We used another contractor for another project in the home that he had bid on because the price was better.
Description of Work: Mr. Tatar came to the home twice to give us a bid on several renovations. I was impressed by his honesty in dissuading us from doing a renovation on our kitchen counters in preparation for an upcoming home sale, even though he would have made a good profit. He drew on his expertise as a remodeler and homebuilder to convince us that we should simply offer a financial incentive to the potential buyer and let them choose the countertops rather than take a chance and pick a style that might not suit a potential buyer. His prices are on the high end of the scale. He is very traditional in the sense that he is in the process of computerizing his business but still does hand drawings instead of CAD 3D renderings. He is very accessible, answers his own phone!

 + -1 moreI called them and they were very good and responsive. They gave me great ideas and they were very honest about why they couldn?t do the work. I felt like he listened to me and tried to solve my problem. They were very professional.

 + 0 moreOur neighbor had recommended him. We got 3 or 4 bids on it and it had to be done correctly so we weren't sure we were going to be happy with the other companies. He does the bid work himself. He talked about what he was going to do and about our options. We had a couple of different options. We knew until they got the wall out we wouldn't know what the structural problem was. He gave us estimates based on whether or not there was structural damage and when they pulled the wall down he was dead on regarding what was wrong. We were impressed with that because a couple of other companies said there wasn't any structural damage. He was very polite. The only thing was that he doesn't actually do the work; he had subcontractors that actually did the work. He did come out and check on them and he did the final inspection. We were able to contact him with any problems. We were very pleased with them. It was Jerry and his son that work for him. He was available and got back to us. We didn't have any issues at all with him. They were here when they said and worked the whole day. They cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: We used D W Tartar to do structural work when we had a custom door installed.
