Very easy to work with - our representative was Mike Gulbinski. In the past we went directly through banks and it was a lot of work for us. Using Marathon made the process easy and we got a great rate. They met all the deadlines and very responsive.

We dealt primarily with Dan on our mortgage with Marathon and he provided the expertise and understanding that made us choose Marathon over a standard bank. As first time home buyers, there was a lot of new information that we needed to learn. Dan walked us through the process at every step, and was always available to answer any questions we had. He simply and accurately explained the different financing options available to us so that we could make a clear decision on which route to go. He was a wealth of knowledge and very professional. Dan's associate Tom came to our settlement and succinctly and described each document before we signed. It made the process so much more stress free than we had anticipated. Also worth noting: We received better financing rates through Marathon than what we were quoted from any other bank!

This was the second time I've used them. I worked primarily with Bob Rubin. They are incredibly professional and always able to get the best current rates.

From the start, the Marathon Mortgage team was on the ball. Every call or email I sent them was addressed very quickly. The refinance options were explained clearly. Everyone seemed very transparent about fees, documents, requirements, processes, etc. They were very open about who would underwrite the mortgage, and who would eventually service the mortgage etc. These folks are not a bank, so don't expect them to service your mortgage once you settle. But again, they make no claim to be a bank. The team was super-friendly and very professional about every step of the process. Absolutely no 'parlor tricks' or 'smoke and mirrors' games. I would TOATLLY and WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Marathon Mortgage for any mortgage service you may need. Even after the settlement date, they contacted me via phone and USPS mail to stay in touch and thank me for our shared experience. I will use them again, and I strongly recommend you contact them to see if you can create a relationship with them.

From Start to Finish, working with Marathon was a great experience. I called to inquire about their services and Dan called me back that same day. They were quick to respond, and answered all my questions about refinancing. They also provided lower rates than any banks that I called and that was about 6-8 different banks. From start to finish with all the paperwork and appraisal, the whole refinancing process took about 20 days. This is awesome as i don't like to draw things out. I would use them again for the future. They want to keep their clients and they treat them as such.

The process was smooth from start to finish. I am an older person with relatively little current income, so there some possibility that no underwriter would take me on. Tom Howell was willing to try to find an underwriter, and we were successful, decreasing my rate by 2 percentage points just before interest rates started to rise. He and the other staff members of Marathon were clear in their requirements, so I was able to provide them with all the records they need - which is a lot! The underwriter was brought on board rapidly and all paperwork was completed promptly and we were able to close in 45 days. This is a professional operation. I recommend Marathon highly.

After reading several reviews, we gave them a call. Mike was very helpful solving all our questions, and even took a call late at night and was very thorough. Even though he wasn't required to, he came to the closing, and was very helpful in getting the whole process to run smoothly. He strives to offer a personalized service and to get you the best rate.

If you are searching for a mortgage professional, look no further. Tom is your answer. I was initially hesitant to call as I have some debt to pay off from the final semester of grad school this past spring. But I have strong credit and an excellent history with my mortgage payments, etc. I called Tom to inquire if this was the right time to proceed and he gave me accurate advice. I spoke with him at the end of August regarding a streamline to just lower my interest rate. He gave me succinct, helpful info in a 10-15 minute phone conversation and then set-up a meeting in his office for the following week. He requested 4 documents which I brought to the office 8/28/12. I was there only a few minutes to sign some documents and for Tom to answer any questions I had. Tom said he was striving for an end-September close date but he couldn't guarantee. The next I heard from him was mid-September with a 9/24 close date. Additionally, he only requested my most recent bank statement before we could close. This was my third overall experience, 1st with Tom. The first 2 were with different companies and each made me feel like I had to jump through hoops. They were especially dramatic, constantly letting me know about all the problematic what-ifs in an attempt to show me just how hard they were working to get it done. After the first one, a woman in the office said it was going through all along, it was just a game they were playing with me. My second experience was with a company that constantly dropped off with communication and I didn't know day to day what was going on. The process with Tom was straightforward and amazingly simple. I'm sure I waited too long to call him. If you're hedging, just call Tom. You won't be disappointed!

This was an excellent experience. I was looking to refinance my home mortgage, which is not huge. The broker for my first mortgage wasn't responsive, so I contacted Marathon based on the positive reviews on Angie's List. The entire process was very smooth. I closed at their office.

They were fantastic extremely responsive and had every thing done very quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They had a coupon which they honored with no issues. They did all the research themselves.

The man that I talked to was extremely helpful in forthcoming and helped me through lot of the process that I was unaware with. He did a very good job of explaining me the ups and downs of what I can do. Since the preapproval he explained to me what I can do to make sure that I can be pre-prepared when it actually comes to buying. I have only got a pre-approval through them and so I haven’t gone through the mortgage yet but I will be using them. The amount that he quoted me was in line of what I was expecting. Quality of all the documentation that I got was top-notch. He was very good in responsiveness as actually it was delayed in getting it through but he actually sent me an email of what was going on and why, so I was very impressed with that. He was very professional. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They are very good and I like them.

Marathon is very responsive and straight forward throughout the whole process. They will not push a refi on you if they do not think it is in your best interest. They will take the time to answer all your questions completely and honestly.

When we used them as a mortgage broker, they cleared 3 hurdles on 3 separate occasions to help us get into the house. We would not have gotten our mortgage cleared were it not for their tireless work. We used them this time to refinance our mortgage. Because of their work, we got our mortgage locked in 2 full percentage points lower than original and eliminated PMI, saving us over $250/month. Again, service was exceptional. Use them. You will not be sorry.

. They had a personable approach in other words it was better to deal with people in an office rather than in a big bank. I thought that was nice. I did not price compare them with everybody.

We got our initial mortgage right when the market became difficult. They did a lot of work for us and were very helpful. The same is true when we refinanced with them.

It ended up that my current Mortgage holder (Wells Fargo) was a few bucks more per month, but had a "Close at Home" option that required just a few signatures and a $10 notary fee. If I didn't have that option, I'd definitely have used Marathon.

So far, the experience has been pretty good. We were able to meet with Tom the next day; he told us what we needed so we were able to gather the information/papers together and take them with us. This saved a lot of time. We had a closing set for the end of June, but there was a discrepancy with the insurance, the mortgage company thought we needed flood insurance, but we don't. When Tom was not able to meet with us, he made sure there was someone in the office who could and he was available by phone. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We are hoping to have closing next week.

I feel he got me a competitive rate, and importantly, was there until the very end without any unexpected surprises. I was very happy with the entire process, and would recommend them to anyone, regardless of the size of the loan.

The price is for the mortgage broker. I have had identity theft recently, and they have been very understanding. They have bent over backwards for us. We had to work with more than one mortgage company and Tom handled everything. He has been very helpful. I will continue to use their services and would recommend them to others.
