stumps removed. Job start was significantly delayed from that
promised. A fairly large area needed to be resseded and was sub
contracted to Godshall Hydroseeding. The grass was of poor quality and
did not germinate properly; that grass that did germinate was field
quality and weeds. Owner came to look at job and made excuses and said
he would try to repair before end of season. After 3 years with this
contractor, it appears we are at the end of our relationship. Very poor
communication skills. Owner does NOT return telephone calls.
Operations manager tries to do best he can but owner seems more intent on HOA jobs and less interested in our's. We had a rocky beginning where we advised them in advance they were on probabtion given our experience last year. Unfortunately, Hursh performance this year has gotten much worse. Sloppy cutting, tearing up turf, cigarette butts thrown over property, extensive damage to metal fence attached to wooden rails requiring extensive and expensive repairs. The Company does not follow through on commitments.
In conclusion, perhaps if you are an HOA, this contractor may work out, but as an inidividual, Hursh quality has gone from excellent in year one to terrible and expensive in year three.
2. I asked the tree line pine beds not be "blown" clear of existing pine needles so as to preserve the natural mulch. Lack of communication apparently led to blowing much of the existing pine needles away thereby requiring more mulch. Also, some beds were mulched that were nor supposed to be. This communication was my fault. I first told them to mulch and subsequently told their boss not to mulch. Unfortunately, the size of the crew leaves room for many miscommunications. Today we had 30 guys working on 4 acres.
3. For the last three years I have paid for weed control which involve monthly weed treatment in the numerous beds and not the lawn. The weeding has been a gross failure to date. The weeders come once a month and that is not enough. Unless I am present to point out the weeds, many are missed; some are three feet tall. The Company has recognized this as an ongoing problem and has hired new folks again to do the weeding.
4..My biggest issue is communications. I have contacted the owners by email and phone numerous times and rarely hear back from them; thus requiring multiple communications and leading to my frustration. I do, however, eventually hear from a quality control guy- usually in time to resolve an issue.
The bottom line is the work is top notch, not cheap, not outrageous, extremely professional and polite workers. The relationship requires ongoing attention. Maybe I am just too hard to please.
