Todd Garloff and his crew are very professional.  Their workmanship is top notch and has been praised by other contractors who have recently done work on my home.  Todd is a knowledgeable and put together individual who communicated well with me throughout the project. I would not hesitate to use him again in the future or to suggest his services to others.

It has been a few months since our deck was installed. Everything went great. But we did notice a slight sag in the railings. So I emailed Todd, and he said no problem, he would be out in the next week to fix it. Good to his word, it has been fixed. I want to give kudos to Todd, for being so prompt to fix a problem and his responsiveness. So many times, we forget that service after the sale, is probably more important than the actual installation. Todd is giving contractors a GOOD name.

From start to finish, the project went excellent. We found Todd at a Home Show, and made an appointment for him to come to our home. As it was a replacement, we were able to provide the size of the deck before hand. Todd came, with all kinds of samples and initial drawings based upon our numbers. Todd listened to what we really wanted, low maintenance and simple design. After deciding on the material, then Todd had an online tool, and quot;Trex Color Visualization Tooland quot; where we could change the colors and see how they would look together. Originally we were going with only one color, but based on this tool, we choose accent colors. Glad we did, because it really looks good. Todd explained the entire process of the project, from removal to completion, and that there may be slight delays due to weather and the schedule of the Township's building inspector.
They started on a Monday, we had agreed upon and took the old deck down and most of the debris removed (excess was stacked neatly on the driveway, out of our way). Rather than use the old support, they put in new cement thingies, to support the new deck. Built the framework and covered it with the materials we had purchased. There were very minor delays, waiting for inspections, but we were prepared for them. On Friday, it was all completed. And beautiful.
Throughout all entire construction process, the area was kept reasonably clean and orderly. The way they had placed the materials, and even the work trucks, was in such a way, that we had no problem getting in and out of our garage. I worked from home while they were here and the crew seemed like not only were they good, they seemed to enjoy their work. I gathered a sense of pride.
The job went well and was completed in a reasonable time frame. However, there was some builder grade siding that did not meet up with the deck after the completion. I called Todd and he immediately had an idea to use some trim that would match the deck. They came out and installed the trim and everything is fantastic.
I would recommend Garloff Carpentry to anyone looking to build a deck. I am very satisfied with them, pre-sale, during construction, and post-completion.

Todd Garloff the owner was very prompt and courteous before signing the contract. Once the contract was signed he pretty much arranged the dates based on his convenience. We had a hard stop by 31st of March, but he proceeded to finish by April 2nd. He blamed it on the weather (where his earlier work elsewhere got delayed).
His crew is the best, foreman Ken was extremely professional more so than Todd himself. The crew was very punctual on coming to work at 7am precise, took half hour lunch at 12pm sharp, came back at 12.30 and continued working till 3.30pm.
One of the reasons we may do future work with Todd is because of his crew's work ethics.
The crew cleaned-up all the mess but for their muddy shoes on the brand new deck. My stairs are coated with mud and it doesn't look new; this was their only fault.

A key element in the redesigning of our back yard was the addition of a deck. I contacted Todd via Angie's List, and he quickly came out to give us an estimate. Part of the deck would be supported by a section of an existing concrete slab, and the rest would need traditional footers. Todd determined that the L-shaped deck could best be constructed as two single decks, joined together, one 10' x 10' and the other 12' x 14'. Since it would rest in part on an existing concrete slab, it would not be a raised deck, and, therefore, no steps or railing would be required. On May 12, 2012, he came to the house to lay out the deck and to dig and pour the footers. On May 21, he and crew, despite pouring rain earlier in the morning, began work. Though it threatened to rain all day, the crew steadily and efficiently proceeded with the construction. They were personable -- we had a great time talking while they worked -- and professional. After the deck was finished, they cleaned up thoroughly, and even offered to do more; I refused that offer because I knew the coming rain would accomplish it. We are very pleased with our new deck, and we are glad we chose Todd to build it for us. (One reason was that Todd's estimate was SUBSTANTIALLY lower than the other two we got.) We heartily recommend Garloff Carpentry.

The owner of Garloff Carpentry came by the house a couple days after we contacted him, looked over the job, took measurements, and then emailed his proposal to us a day or two later. The proposal included drawings of exactly what he was planning to build, as well as the price. It was a very comprehensive proposal.

When we got back to him with the and quot;go ahead, and quot; he gave us a date they would start the work and the number of days the project would take to complete. They kept to that schedule.

The carpenters were very experienced and it showed - they knew exactly what they were doing, worked quickly, and made a good recommendation for improvement part way through the job. They were happy to explain what they were doing. They kept the work area tidy.

My opinion is that we now have an extraordinarily well-built deck that will last many, many years. It is very good looking. I would definitely use Garloff again.

The only problem with the job is that we had a rainy summer, so when the delivery trucks drove on our yard around to the back yard, they were driving on soft ground. So we now have tire tracks / gouges that will require a good bit of work to repair.

The project was delayed for several weeks due to the weather in late May. This wasn't a problem as there was no particular timing pressure by the customer. Mr. Garloff communicated regularly with us to ensure we knew what his plans were. If I did not hear from him, I would contact him via emai and he responded the next day. I will say his team was professional, paid attention to detail and did quality work. They were respectful of the customer and would ask questions to ensure they were clear on expectations. As with most contractors, the owner needs to be on top of the project to ensure what was agreed to in the contract is being done. There were times when communications between Mr. Garloff and his team, on specific items, was missed and we needed to revisit the contract to ensure the items were clear and addressed. The only disappointment was some minor items that needed to be addressed, after the final check was delivered. Shame on me for not catching those beforehand as we've been waiting to get those completed but sofar communications have ceased. Garloff stated he would return to address the items but that has not happened. Fortunately for me, I have some handyman skills and can make the corrections myself. For someone who does not, my advice is to make sure you are completely satisfied and all items are to your satisfaction before handing over final payment.

Garloff Carpentry is a contractor I would recommend as we are pleased with the final project, regardless of the minor inconveniences noted.

The job was very well done. The workers were very good. We would definitely use them again. We did have to wait because he was very busy but it was definitely worth the wait. He listened to us on what we wanted as far as the deck was concerned and he came through. We were very pleased.
