He showed up on time to look at the job. An estimate was given in a timely manner. They showed up at the agreed upon time and did exactly what was expected. Cleaned up too! Very professional!

They came when they said they would, and the work was accomplished sooner than I thought it would be. They cleaned up everything and were very pleasant and cooperative to deal with. I gave them a general idea of what I wanted and they went beyond that to make it not only low maintenance, but also very attractive. My wife and I are very pleased with the work and with this company.

My wife and I had previously contracted Brian Avery to build a new front walkway and door stoop with great success, so we had every confidence that Brian would handle our patio project with equal efficiency and success.  We were not disappointed.  Brian personally supervised the project from start to finish.  He came in on budget even thought the old patio was much more challenging to demolish than anticipated.  Brian took charge of overseeing the work of the drainage work including texting us photos daily while we were on vacation.  Brian, as with his first job for us, showed a high degree of skill in laying down the foundation sand and paver stones while making last minute adjustments to design and dimensions as needed.  After completion, Brian returned to the project several times to make last minute corrections and adjustments such as adding additional sand beneath pavers closest to the house and laying down additional grass seed.  As expected, Brian showed his customary high expertise and follow through with our latest project.  I would recommend Brian without hesitation to anyone considering an outdoor project involving hardscaping.  I would gladly offer my name as a professional referral.

We called Avery Landscaping for an appointment to go over our plans for replacing the old concrete patio with  pavers and extending a walkway to the drive. Brian promptly returned our call and set an appointment. Being typical homeowners we had plenty of questions and talked to him several times about different products and prices. He politely answered all our questions. Many would have said good-by I don't need the aggravation.  In the end we went with his original suggestion. The job was scheduled and bright and early he and his crew arrived on the day scheduled. These guys worked nonstop breaking just for a lunch break, anyway a 4 day job was done in 3. I think the overall workmanship is fantastic, Brian and his crew are a professional team that will bend over backwards to make sure the customer is satisfied.

Promised the job in three weeks but completed it in one. Beautiful job, professional looking. I get rave reviews on it!

No high pitch sales person, the owner himself sited out the job and gave a very reasonable estimate. I definitely recommend.

When we agreed to the project with Brian Avery, the estimated schedule was mid to late July.  The week before the work was to start,we got a call from Brian confirming the work would start the following week.  The timing was consistent with our expectations.

We were told the work should be completed in 3 days, but it only took 2.  The crew at our house seemed very efficient.  They showed up early each day, went straight to work and knew exactl;y what to do.  At the end of the project, they did an excellent job with the clean up.
In the end, the work that was done was excatly what Brian had told us and the quality was excellent.  Both walkways look great!

Had a retaining wall installed by a different company about 7 years ago and due to them cutting corners and not knowing what they were doing, it began to fail (push out) this past summer.  The biggest mistake I made was not calling Avery Landscaping to do the first wall.  Brian, Alex and the crew did an amazing job.  They really enjoy what they do and the quality of thier work shows.  I have had a lot of experience with different contractors, but by far this was the best experience I ever had.  It took the other guys a month to put up a crappy wall, it took Brian and the crew a little over a week to put a wall up that will most likely be here long after I am gone.  I was prepared to hear the problems that came along with the job, but not one time was there a problem or an issue.  The crew were extremely courteous and attentative to any questions or requests.  After the wall was completed and the grass was seeded, we had some major storms a week later.  Without calling or asking, Brian was back out reseeding what the storm washed away.  AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!  I got another call from him a couple weeks later to follow up and make sure everything was to my satisfaction.  Again, we had more storms and he was back out again reseeding!  That is a company that stands behind their work.  Brian's prices are fair, but even if it is a couple bucks more than another company, I would pay it to have the reassurance of quality and excellent customer service from Avery Landscaping.

Once again Brian and his crew outdid themselves!!  This is the second job Avery Landscaping has done for me.
I am thrilled with the final result and especially with the time and patience that Brian gave to making my outdoor oasis dream come true!   He goes far beyond what I ever would have expected from a contractor. He promptly returns phone calls, gave me ideas I never would have thought of on my own, and was willing to change my plan when I was indecisive.
I highly recommend him to anyone looking for paving/landscaping work..... Thank you Brian ,Alex, and crew!!!

This past year, my husband and I had an in ground pool installed in our backyard.  The project started in October 2013, but was not finished until May 2014.  We were extremely pleased with the pool company; however, our sloped yard became more like hills after the installation.  Also, most of our front and back yard was demolished due to the trucks and bobcats digging the pool.  Since the pool's completion was delayed due to such a rainy and cold spring; I was concerned that I would never find a good hardscape and landscape contractor who could do this work as soon as possible.
Fortunately, I decided to check Angie's list ratings.  I found a couple of very good recommendations for both large and small contract organizations.  Avery Landscape/Hardscape was one of the smaller groups, but I was hoping that their cost might be less than some of the larger groups.  I called Brian Avery and he came out the next day to give me ideas on how to decrease the hills in the yard, as well as ideas on landscaping our entire property.  Brian came back later the same day with an estimate and I knew that his prices were well below other larger companies.
Brian's company consisted of him and his two workers, Angel and Alex.  The first project was a retention wall along the one side of the pool. Then they sodded and re-landscaped both our front and back yard.  I was so pleased with their work, that I then had them put in a brick pathway along the pool and also a brick patio.  Of the 30 years of being a home owner, I have never seen such a hardworking crew.  Both our front and back yard look like something out of the "Home and Garden" magazine.  The job could not have been done any better and faster even if I would have gone with a larger organization.  The team's work ethic was phenomenal and they spent a great deal of time cleaning everything up to perfection without any extra cost.
I have to admit that I was skeptical at first by using a contractor that I didn't know and just by going with the on-line ratings.  However, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I would truly recommend Avery Landscape/Hardscape for any outside work and I would be willing to give them further recommendations by phone or e-mail.

When he came to do the actual work, he was very thorough and he did an excellent job of making our tree landscaping look wonderful. He even returned to stake some trees later to make sure they were growing correctly. I would highly recommend Avery Landscaping to anyone who needs landscaping work performed.

Everything went very well. The guys worked in the crazy heat and were still finished with in 3 to 4 days! We had already pulled up the old brick and started to dig out the space. They came in and finished they digging (much faster). They did hit a few unexpected wires (we didn't know they were there either) and they went out of their way to fix it and make sure everything was safe before continuing. The patio looks great and has so far held up very nicely. The new brick we used is seamless with the old brick. Very hardworking and efficient team! We will definitely keep them in mind for our next outdoor project.

The owner, Brian and his helper were extremely friendly, polite and hardworking. They arrived at our home on time as promised and worked non-stop from about 8:30 to 4:00. The job was completed in one day as promised. We were very impressed with the quality of the work and thought the price was more than fair for what we had done. We have recommended Avery Landscaping to several friends and will continue to do so. This landscaping contractor delivered exactly what he promised and was a joy to work with. We will continue to use Avery Landscaping for our garden needs.

We have seen some of Brian's work done on 2 of our neighbors' properties and decided to get an estimate to have some railroad ties removed and replaced. He was very punctual with the estimate, coming later in the same day that I requested one. The estimate sounded reasonable and we and Brian decided on doing the job later on in the week. He arrived, along with an assistant, after I had left for work (although my wife was home) and the job was completed before I got home that day. When I did get home, I was anxious to see what the job looked like. My first impression was that it looked very good and I was happy with it, it will last a long time. They did a great job on cleanup also. Upon closer inspection, I saw a flaw or two that I wished could have been remedied but since the spikes were already in, I don't think anything can be done and, honestly, it doesn't take away from the overall job. I'm not a stickler for perfection but I just wondered why the length of one tie was not flush with the one below it and why some of the ties didn't seem to be butted up tightly against each other (in order to eliminate crevices as much as possible).
I think Angie's list should have another rating, between good and excellent. That's where I would have put the overall rating for this job. I gave a B for price because I don't know if it was an excellent price. Versus doing the job myself, I look at it as a good price. Only the person buying the materials and doing the job knows the true rating of the price.

We went to home depot and looked at the do-it-yourself paver patio book that makes it look easy. Believe me, it's not. Not if you want it done right anyway. If I tried to do it, it would have taken me a few months. We tried to find a landscaper that could do this job for a decent price. This was not an easy job! We got a few quotes and decided to go with Brian Avery of Avery Landscaping. We live in a row home and installing a paver patio in the back is very difficult because you would have to carry in the pavers from around 4 houses down, up the hill at the back and then down the hill into our back yard. There was no way to use a forklift so Brian had to wheel-barrow about 10 pavers at a time, sand and gravel up and down the hill to get all the materials in (not easy... I would've probably died doing that). In layman's terms, this is what he did (I'm sure I'm leaving something out) - He dug out the foundation which was another laborious process of wheel-barrowing dirt up and down the hill, laid down the weed fabric, laid down the sand, used his machine to pad it down, laid some other kind of sand (I have no idea what kind but he knew what he was doing), then the pavers, then more sand. He paid so much attention to detail and I don't think these pavers are going to move not even one centimeter. He also carved out the sides of the lawn and replanted trees with mulch. The whole job took about a week and when it was done it was beautiful. We were very satisfied and pleased with how everything turned out. The yard looks like we added a million dollars to the price of the house (I wish). I would definitely reccomend Brian to anyone who's looking to do a patio or any landscaping job. He was professional, courteous, punctual and confident in his ability to do the job. Awesome!
