We had this company before when it was called [A sooty solution] they recomened some repairs at that time and gave us an estimate for $500 plus. We made another appt. to have them return to do the work. They arrived on time and did the Job. Upon completion they indicated it didn't need as much work as they thought and charged us $350. Not many people will do that.We strongly recomend them. We will use them from now on.

We called them and they gave us an appointment, and showed up when scheduled. They are very knowledgeable,and apparently one of a few licensed chimney sweeps in Pa. They cleaned and inspected our chimney inside and out.They and made some repair recomendations.They were very nice and didn't make a mess. We have made another Appt. to have the repairs done.

They entered the home with drop cloths to capture any debris. Used vac to contain the soot. The fireplace had not been tended to since 2004 when we purchased the home. The home has been under major renovations and just recently became livable. We were surprised by the condition of the fireplace due to age and neglect. Greg provided a quote to repair and gave alternatives if we chose to not use the fireplace as a wood burning fireplace. All of the dirty work was contained and they left the area beautifully cleaned when work was completed. They were thorough, quick, and tidy with their work.

I called Sooty Solution yesterday for a first time service call. They had an opening for today, so I booked it. The company owner and his assistant arrived before the scheduled time and charged me less then the quoted rate for the cleaning as the style of my fireplace was easier to clean. To ensure they didn't leave any mess behind they covered the flooring from the fire place to the entry door and even cleaned the windows on the fire place. I'd definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

They were right on time and laid out material on my floors so that they would not be walking on my wood flooring. They were very professional in checking my chimney and answered all my questions. The flue was loose and they fixed it quickly. I will use them again and recommend them

Overall, they were great. We had no issues and were very satisfied with them.

We first saw A Sooty Solution at the Crawford County Fair in August and requested they contact us about cleaning our chimney as they were offering a special and quot;Fairand quot; discount. In late September, we called them as they had not contacted us as promised at the Fair. The earliest they could get to us was mid-October, which we chose. They arrived on-time and cleaned the chimney and fireplace for the promised fee, which was within a few dollars of what we had been paying another chimney sweep in the past.
Our home has very expensive hardwood flooring in every room. When the two gentlemen arrived, I greeted them at the garage, removed MY shoes before entering the house and they followed me with their workboots on! They did NOT remove THEIR shoes or put shoe covers on - something all other service people entering our house have always done! In fact, they made a couple trips in and out of teh house without removing tehir shoes or putting on shoe covers.
They did place a tarp on the floor at the hearth and cleaned the unit, leaving no mess afterwards. But their vacuum cleaner was operated in the house and after they left, the house smelled like smoke/soot for several hours. Our old chimnet sweep always left his vacuum cleaner operate outside and just the hose was brought in - to keep soot and odors from getting in the house air.
Also noteworthy is that the ceramic plate in the top of our fireplace unit was broken in half, and they never brought it to our attention - and that is something that should be replaced if cracked/broken per the manufacturer's warnings. Just saying, it should have been mentioned as it is a potential safety issue.
They also did not clean the fireplace glass while here - again, something the former sweep did.
BUT, they did do what we asked for (clean the chimney) at the price quoted, although there was no and quot;value addedand quot; to make them a stand-out service provider.

Cleaned and made sure fireplace was safe

They just finished cleaning out our wood stove insert and cleaning our chimney for the second time since they installed the insert in the fall of 2009. The have always been totally professional since the first time they came out and gave us an estimate for the wood stove insert back in 2009 and during the installation of the insert. Both times they have cleaned the chimney and the insert they have arrived on time, done a great job and cleaned up completely after they were finished. We would certainly recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

They say they are run by certified firefighters and it came up a couple of times. They pointed out things we did and did not want to do because they had seen it before. I thought it was unbelievable. I wanted them to work on the chimney cap but they wouldn’t because they said it wouldn’t cure right; the other guys were going to do it. They talked about a lot of stuff with us. They said that the chimney was so clean that it didn’t need to be cleaned. They put sheets down everywhere and they kept a vacuum going so that they could clean up any dust. There was not a speck of dirt that came out. We are having them come out in the spring to work on the chimney cap. They got up on the roof several times and they checked all kinds of things. I think they were great. Good quality work is worth paying for. The other guys wanted to replace the flue and put a cap on; it was like they wanted to replace everything. These guys just gave me all of my options. They came exactly when they said and they went straight to another job in my area.
