Gary Tyler Roofing

Willow Brook Farms hired Gary Fehr, DBA Gary Tyler, to repoint an old lime kiln, removing old, crumbling grout and replacing it with new cement. Gary hired some mason helpers and things seemed to be fine. The job started out well, but soon turned into a nightmare. The job took much longer than we were led to believe it would take. The old grout had to be removed with a small jack hammer, then new cement had to be placed in between stones. Basically the stone wall area had to be repointed. A scaffold was erected in front of the stone wall of the old kiln, and workers moved it as they worked on sections of the wall areas. It turns out Gary was not dependable in showing up for work. We found out, after the fact, that he drank alcohol on the job, took long lunch breaks, and charged us for hours that he was not working. Many times I personally checked the job site, and he was not present, but on accounting, he was charging us for the time he was absent. He did not finish the job, and ended up owing his laborers money. Most of the work done on the lime kiln was accomplished by his laborers. Gary lied about his mason abilities. It turns out that he is really a roofer. Whatever you do, don’t hire this man as a mason or as a roofer. The masonry work done was adequate, but the non professional management of the job was appalling.
