John was extremely prompt and very knowledgeable about home inspections. He actually walked us (as the buyers) through the house and gave us tips and tricks once we moved in. I needed a home inspection company that was reliable, the owner Katherine had come to speak at a home buyers class I'd attended and made such an impression on me, with explaining what to look for in a home inspector, and why we should look for certain qualities. That I knew, this was the company I was going to use. I called around line Katherine suggested, and sure enough her company was personable and knowledgeable. They were also very patient with my rescheduling twice and accommodated me with my dates. Thomas my inspector was early and ready to go, he talked me through evey step of the inspection and explained why he checked everything and what for....I really learned a lot about caring for my new home just from my inspection. I had an Inspector by the name of Sean from Value Home Inspection come out to look at the house I am planning on purchasing. He is very knowledgeable on the subject and walked me through the entire process. I am not a handyman myself so he was able to speak in layman's term of the condition of the house. He was able to uncover issues with the house that was not disclosed in Sellers Disclosure. Kathy was fabulous and I cannot say enough good things about her as a home inspector.  After reading numerous reviews and receiving multiple recommendations, I ended up choosing Value Home Inspections mainly for Kathy's extensive knowledge and excellent reputation.  I am purchasing a home built in 1900 and needed someone meticulous and diligent.  Attention to detail was of utmost importance.
Kathy from Home Value Inspection did not disappoint.  In fact, she exceeded my expectations.  She possesses tremendous knowledge, to the point where my realtor was also impressed.   In addition to being in the inspection business for over 20 years, Kathy has experience designing renovations which gave us an edge with an older home.  She was extremely knowledgeable about the plumbing, electricity and foundation - all of which are usually the "big deal" issues when it comes to home inspections.

They were very punctual, inspected the exteriors, ran the water through all the taps to ensure that there are no leaks. Checked all door and windows etc but still there were many costly items missed. The door locks were not up to code, the washer dryer doors were not working properly and those items were missed and it cost me dearly.

The 90 day warranty also will not cover many items

The best part is they provide the cost of repair for the unsatisfactory items and keep you informed about items that may be required to be replaced soon.

The inspection went well. The inspectors were professional and courteous. They explained what the issues were with the home in detail. They also offered many suggestions for making the home more energy efficient and ways to maximize the space.

We had two issues after they left. While inspecting they needed to test the heater. They turned the heat all the way up and forgot to turn it down in the first floor unit so when we came home it was over 90 degrees in the house. We called, complained and they apologized. Apology accepted. Then, in our upstairs unit they somehow messed up the heating system and blew the pilot completely out while checking it. So our upstairs tenants had no heat, with a baby in the home. I called to complain and they told me someone would come out within the next few days to look at it. Mind you, it was still in the 60's weather wise during the day, so heat was needed at night, especially with a baby in the house. Needless to say I would not use this company again.

Mr Roth was a real pleasure to work with. He was very knowledgeable. He took the time to answer every one of our questions. He explained in detail every flaw he noticed, pointing out which ones were serious and would require immediate attention. For less serious issues within the home he explained how we could fix it ourselves potentially saving hundreds of dollars. At the end of our inspection he provided us with a Customized Inspection Report with plenty of pictures, explanations of all the defects in the home and general maintenance information. As homeowners, particularly first time homeowners, he left us feeling very secure in our knowledge of the condition of the property we ended up purchasing. His overall manner was friendly yet professional. I was very pleased with Value Home Inspections and their inspector, Mr. Roth.

The customer service rep I spoke to when scheduling my home inspection was very pleasant and informative, explaining the whole process to me. The inspector Thomas and his assistant were early and had already completed a good part of the inspection before I got there(the house was vacant and on a lock box. Thomas did a very thorough job, walking me through the whole house and giving me a detailed list of what repairs the house needed and explained the severity of each issue he pointed out. He also patiently explained the major house systems to me, showing me how to maintain them and what needed to be fixed/cleaned/etc...It was almost like taking a course in home maintenance. I was very satisfied with the whole process and would not hesitate to use them again.

The organization was easy to work with. The inspector was enthusiastic about his job, picking up on many small problems for the seller to fix and giving his overall impression that the house was sound. However, he did not look at the garage door, which was open when he inspected. The garage door was in bad shape and should have been noted for repair.

THE INSPECTOR (THOMAS) WAS FAIRLY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND THOROUGH AND DID WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GOOD INSPECTION. HOWEVER, I FOUND HIS MANNER TO BE SOMEWHAT CONDESCENDING, PARTICULARLY TOWARDS MY WIFE. THE STANDARD REPORT THIS COMPANY PROVIDES IS VERY COMPREHENSIVE, AND EVEN INCLUDES MAINTENANCE TIPS THAT COULD BE HELPFUL TO NEW HOMEOWNERS. USING IT, WE WERE ABLE TO GET A SUBSTANTIAL CREDIT FROM THE SELLER FOR ISSUES THAT THE INSPECTOR FOUND.
