Window World of Altoona

Facing around replacement windows was wider than present windows. Called them three times before a rep came (a month later) to look at mistake. The rep left, told me nothing about when someone would return and remedy poor installation. Still waiting. January 11, 2019.

Not well at all. All the work is sub-standard hack work that is below the level of DIY. The crew sent to make repairs did worse work than the original crew. The quote to repair my house is in excess of $30,000. Yes, it is that bad. You can see for yourself. [*** Link removed ***]

It's been a year since I hired them for windows and siding. Soffit and fascia crooked and falling off, siding crooked and loose, and water infiltration around some window frames. It's "hack" work far below industry standard. They defecated in my yard and trashed my property. My wife was home while the work was being done and would not unlock the doors because of the "caliber" of the work crew. They sent out their "best" guy to do repair work after the fact, but his work was even worse than the original crew. Chad Shirey was belligerent and threatening. I am faced with tens of thousands of dollars to repair what was done and had to retain an attorney because of the extent of the repairs needed. Original work went well but part of fascia came loose a little less than a year later. I had problems getting them to come out and repair it. Had to call numerous times. It has now been 2 weeks and they have not come out yet.

I went well except I don't like how they did above the porch roofs, I feel they should do better job. I guy came up about 6 weeks ago and toke pictures and said that I will hear from them,

Great.  The installation team was there ahead of the scheduled time.  They were extremely fast, yet excellent with their work.  Quite a compliment to Window World.  I couldn't believe how fast they worked and cleaned up after themselves and moved on quickly to another home.  They did an awesome job and I am lovin' my window.

Within a day or two of this review, Window World contacted us and sent someone out to make the repairs. Hmmm

It went well they change all 11 windows in about 5 hours and clean up after they where done  GREAT JOB

there were flaws in the workmanship and when you call them its always 3 weeks before they get back to you to schedule repairs and last feb. we waited over 3 months for them to come out and when they did they put a new weather strip on the storm door and said they would order a replacement door and as of now we still have the old door on that they couldn't adjust correctly.... also they said they would replace some siding they put on originally in 2013 and  that isn't done yet either....the new entrance door and storm door together cost us $2,600.00 dollars....there were details on all they installed and it took a long time for someone to show up and all jobs are not finished !!!

Window Worlds repair man called me the morning of Feb 4th and asked all about what needed fixed... he did already know all this as he stated in our conversation that he was still carrying the paper on his clipboard .he said he would be up the next morning early or very soon but I  haven't heard back from him or anyone else from Window World...we would just like the problems fixed .... he originally told me that there was not enough adjustment left in the door that it was ordered in at least a half inch too long.... there is still the problem with the rows of siding not matching up and he said he had to check into that also...what good is a lifetime warranty if nothing is done to fix the problems..!

Salesman came to the house and explained what the installers would do when installing the windows. Showed us that for an extra $110.00, the installers would put casing around the outside of the windows.  We paid the extra money but there has never been any casing installed on the outside of the windows. Contacted Chad Shirey about paying for the casing and not having it installed and he told me it was (even though he had never been to my house). I called several times when finally Chad told me that he would come to my house and take a look at windows. He asked me when I would be home to I could be there with him and somehow he showed up when I was not at home instead of when I told him I would be at home.  Chad later called and said that the casing was on the window and he was not going to refund my money.

After viewing my review, Chad contacted me and wanted to discuess my problem some more. We were finally able to meet face to face and explain to each other our side of the story. Chad showed me that I did get what I paid for, just not the way the the salesman explained it to me when he showed me pictures of what I would get. Being able to meet face to face was a benefit to both of us and had that happened when the windows were installed, there probably never would have been an issue. After getting a chance to meet Chad in person and discussing the way that a problem should be handled, I would recommend Window World to anyone that needs window installed in their home.  I just feel bad now that there was a difference of opinion for so long when a simple meeting could have solved the issue so long ago. Thank you Chad for being the professional that you were when you came to my house to discuss my concerns.

Their pricing was reasonable.

The project went well.

The salesman, Rick, priced out the job and measured the openings on September 20, 2013.

We discussed options and signed the contract on that date.  The windows were ordered and the job was later scheduled for installation on 10/31/2013.

The installation crew arrived on the morning of the installation and removed the old storm windows and prepared the openings for the new windows.  There were a couple of window measurements that were slightly off, either on the measurement side or manufacturing side, but the crew was able to modify the affected openings to accept the windows as delivered. 

All windows were professionally installed, caulked and then the outside was trimmed with aluminum.

Sales rep came to the house and gave me the sales pitch, He was very nice and assured me that the price was excellent and the best he could do, he also assured me that Window world windows and doors are backed by a warranty that is outstanding. He was going to stop by during the installation and make sure everything was going as planned! Not only did that not happen, I had to call him to tell him that all the ,materials required for the job were not delivered. He assured me it would be taken care of. It was simple woodwork and not the actual windows however it's unsightly and unfinished. The gentlemen who did the installation were out standing. professional and very informative.  They thought that they would be able to return on wed (the job was done on Monday)
That afternoon the lady from the office called and asked me how I wanted to pay for the second half of the job. I held $500.00 back until the job was finished. She also stated that it would probably be on Wed.  If you call for an estimate you will get all the time you need from sales, Once you commit to have the job done it's a different story. I need to stress again that the installers were outstanding and this issue has nothing to do with them. Follow up is almost non existent, If Window World can't finish a job in this amount of time I find it hard to believe that any warranty issue would ever be addressed.

Fantastic!  I've nothing but the very best to say about Window World from Vaughn Lewis who was my salesman, the wonderful product, the AWESOME installers (Scott's crew), their expertise and the immaculate clean-up.  I have 26 new, beautiful windows of excellent quality and love them!  Scott's crew was exceptional, efficient, extremely competent, personable, polite and did an amazing clean-up while they worked and also when everything was completely finished.  All of the windows were done in one day too!  What a great experience!  Window World...you are the very best!!!
