They didn't charge anymore then they would have for a regular call. I was very surprise by the price, it was very reasonable. It was amazing.

My 10 year old dog felt very comfortable with the veterinarian. The bet explained exactly what she did and what had happened. I felt that I could trust what they were doing and that they were doing the best possible thing for my dog.

Part 2 Continuation On Tuesdays the day my dog died; The Vet (Mark) called me saying Max was eaten up with bacteria; that he had to use a rare antibiotic that might damage his kidney; which I gave the go on?. A half hour later; Mark calls and states he's going to give him another and terminates the line while my mouth hangs open. Twice his call/voice being the terminating type/factor. He calls back an hour later and tells me my dog had a heart attack; BUT he was in surgery (not his fault right). I said listen ; I'm taking my dog home; just as I mentioned before... I told him to give him a sedative and pain meds if in pain; that I will get him. He calls back 5 minutes later and said he had his second heart attack and is fully gone now. It felt to me like they messed him up so badly; they already euthanized him and all this blather was deceitful. I now know what it means to die worse than a dog. Answer this;... what would this of meant to you if it were your best friend, your champion; or your son. This is not an animal hospital by any means. It's a triage clinic for small to medium animals; based out of an aluminum shed type structure to profit a couple people. The guest chair area likely has more space that the animals. If you’re in need of a ER during normal hours; ten perhaps. If you have another choice; work it out in advance. I'll regret this decision/clinic for the rest of my life. I finally took him home; out the back door.? They did offer me a discount of 20 percent; but I think they start high knowing that to begin. I heard much about the State College Hospital; and this turned into a nightmare. The Pitt Hospital was 50 times better on every front.

The work was very good and they were fine. They are always professional. They are a little bit more expensive but I know I am getting the best.

We've used them for years. They are permanent as to us. The quality of the service keeps me going back to them. They're super all the way around.

Dr. Mark is our vet for my 4 year old service dog and our recently departed German Shepherd. Our Shepherd was born with a heart murmur. Prior to adopting our Shepherd, Dr. Mark took several calls to help educate us on what we might be facing. Unfortunately, our new baby had the terminal heart condition and could not be saved. Dr. Mark was fabulous, working with us to make his time with us comfortable, and when the time came, help us to let go. Maurine is the most amazing comfort counselor and truly appreciated our loss. Even the desk staff reached out to us to make things as peaceful as possible. NOTHING will ever replace our Gunner, but Metzger Animal Hospital helped us through the loss, remembered us after, and truly knew our heartbreak.

She is doing fine, never even got sick. From what I understand, dogs do a lot better than humans when it comes to these treatments.

Our dachschund, who was 3.5 years old at the time, had difficulty walking and standing up. We went to our normal vet and they suspected a back problem, a common dachshund problem. We were refered to Metzger by our normal vet (1 of 2 places in a 50 miles radius of Altoona that would do a back surgery). After an X-ray, they performmed the back surgey. After the surgery, he came home 2 days later with all the necesassary meds and orders. In a few months time, he was back to his old self. Yet for some reason, our doxie isn't too happy to go there.

We had just moved into the area. Our 12 year old corgi took a turn for the worse and had to be put down immediately to spare her pain. We called Metzger's and they had us come in immediately even though we had never been there before. They were so kind and caring with our dog and with us. She passed peacefully on a comfy dog bed on the floor with us beside her. We are so grateful how gently and competently the procedure was done. There was a beautifully appointed room with couch-even coffee and fridge with drinks if we had wanted it. We were encouraged to stay with her before and after the procedure for as long as we wanted. The hospital itself was immaculately clean. We later received a kind handwritten condolence note from the vet. I can't say enough kind things about Metzger's. We will certainly use them in the future and recommend them to any friend.

I was greeted immediately by a friendly front desk person. She was very pleasant and helpful. I completed the paperwork since it was my first time to this vet. A second staff person appeared to help me since the first one was helping another client. I was immediately shown into an exam room and met with a very friendly and knowledgeable vet tech.
Shortly after that, I was seen by Dr. Jennett, who was excellent. He spent a long time with me asking a number of questions and performing the exam on my cat. My cat is 13 years old and is normally very stressed at the vet offices, but this vet clinic uses a spray with cat pheromones (sprayed on a towel) to calm them down. I didn't realize that they used this at first, but noticed that my cat was strangely comfortable in the large exam room when we waited briefly before the vet came in. By the end of the appointment, he was actually lying down on the exam table and didn't run back into his carrier, which he normally does as soon as the door is opened again! I was so impressed I purchased some of the spray from the vet (Feliway).
The vet clinic itself is very nicely finished, with very nice furniture and tiled floors.
The vet is also on call this weekend and I can call 24/7 if I need to.
I highly recommend this vet clinic!

We were with them since 2004. They were a good office and not too many complaints. The only thing was that the doctors were kind of in and out very quickly, maybe not as thorough as we liked. They were thorough but did not spend much time I guess. They were very friendly the front desk was very friendly. They were easily available for appointment making.

I called them at 5 in the morning and explained what was going on. The lady who answered the phone told me that she would have the doctor call me back. He called and agreed to meet us at the hospital. He did tell me that he couldn't guarantee he could do anything for him but he would try. My dog couldn't even walk, he was howling in pain, and when they got him to the hospital he was throwing up blood. They kept me updated to let me know what was always going on while he was there. He said that he needed surgery and would do the surgery the following day if the dog was stable and made it through the night. He did the surgery the next day and called me to let me know everything they did and that he was doing fine. They cooked him food and he wasn't eating it so they asked if we would come over because maybe he would eat for us. They let us bring him home and he called me every couple of days to see how he was doing. He was not only concerned about the dog, but he was concerned about us having to deal with what we were dealing with. He is expensive but he saved my dog's life.
