"We were never in this customer's home in 2013 and in fact have not been there since 2011. This is apparently the same issue as addressed by this customer in his review dated 10/4/2016. I'm sorry that the customer had a bad experience, however, I don't know why they posted on the same issue twice five years later, without having had any discussion with us as to his accusations."
"I'm sorry that Mr. [Member Name Removed] apparently had a bad experience with our company over 5 years ago. Unfortunately, since we have had no contact from the customer or been to his home since 2011, it's a bit difficult to defend ourselves. So, I have no way of knowing either what conditions were seen by our technician. At this point, the equipment is also well past a normal lifespan and well below current energy usage standards. We certainly would have been happy to review any concerns had they been brought to us at that time."
Two days later, in steps the home warranty company, because, after all, why would I hand over $5K+ without a second opinion. After paying an additional $100 (HSA deductible), THAT tech wiped off a sensor and to my surprise, the furnace started right up. If Ryan had done the same thing, I would NOT have had to pay the extra $100.
I spoke to two separate people at the company, with a request for a refund of $100 for the deductible I had to pay the home warranty people, and was told flat out that it could NOT be done, you signed the paper that's what the diagnostic fee is you're going to have to replace that furnace eventually and so on. Not one spot of concern in making a potential future customer happy. What would have cost the company ONLY $100 to make me happy, now costs them revenue from the eventual furnace replacement, water heater replacement, attic insulation job, split a/c system installation and new thermostat installation as we upgrade our home, because I would not in my right mind hire a company who cares NOTHING about customer satisfaction.
O'Briens should remember they're not the only heating and a/c company in the area. If I hear of anyone else considering using this company, I will take pleasure in passing my story along.
"This customer called their home warranty company first and they were not available for 48 hours. We responded promptly on a Saturday. The part that was inoperative was discontinued by the manufacturer some time ago and contains mercury. The long term solutions are a complete control retrofit or a boiler replacement which made more sense economically given the age and condition of the boiler. The cleaning performed by the home warranty company is no more than a "band aid" repair. We stand by our diagnosis and recommendation and do not feel it is our responsibility to reimburse the customer for a second opinion."
We just decided not to do the work
