We thought everything was fine until we tried to sell our house 5 years later and found that our radon levels were 15.7 in our basement and 4.1 in our downstairs. When we tried calling Mr Stever, he never responded and his voicemail was not taking messages. In the meantime, we got another company out and was informed that Jamie Stever is under investigation. The system he put in did absolutely nothing to remediate the radon because it was too small for our sized basement and he did not seal areas that were supposed to be sealed. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. HE WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND PUT YOUR FAMILY AT RISK, LIKE HE DID TO OURS. It is well known in our area (Philadelphia) that this is a disreputable contractor.

We were pleased with the workmanship of the radon system. James Stever went so far as to order a piece of gutter for the radon vent with color matching our existing gutters. After installation, he returned two voice messages with my questions about the system. However, the post-installation radon tests came back high (5.5 pCi/L). Then I had a little trouble getting him to call me back, but he finally did. He came out to the house and we talked about what to do next. He proposed to seal a cover over my sump pit and we set a date for the work. He did not show up on that day and stopped returning my calls. I called him every day for two weeks before giving up. If you accept a contract with James Stever, know that you may have to actually take him to court to get him to meet the terms of the contract. I had a newborn and didn't want to wait for court decisions so I decided to do the work myself. (The sump cover worked, by the way, and my radon level is now 2.1 pCi/L).
Description of Work: Tests revealed high levels of radon in our home. James Stever came out and proposed to install an active (fan assisted) radon reduction system for $900 with a 5 year guarantee that radon levels would be remain below the EPA action threshold 4.0 pCi/L. We accepted his contract and the system was installed.
