First Service Restoration

I woke up at 11AM to the sound of a rain storm in my kitchen. Fortunately, I caught it early and turned the water off but there was already a quarter inch or more all over the tile fall and it had soaked some of the wall to wall carpeting in the adjacent dining room. It had come it through the ceiling like fixture as well. Usually, I check Angie's before hiring a company and research it to death but I had to have this taken care of immediately so I called my insurance agent and they recommended this company. First Services Restoration got here around 1PM and they stayed until 11PM that night installing the dehumidifiers, drilling holes in the plaster to suck out any water, removing trim and some of the wall. There must have been 20 humongous machines running in the dining room, kitchen and laundry room. They were here until late on Feb 16th. I have an old house, built around 1948. The wiring was not meant to carry the load of all these machines running at once so the electric kept blowing out. Since I have FIOS, that meant no computer or phone access. The first time I noticed was 2AM on the 14th. Brandon came out at 9:30 the next morning and turned some things off until I could run the computer and make coffee. Then around 3PM the furnace stopped working - still in single digit night temps - and they came out again - in the snow - but it turned out to be in part a zone valve that needed to be replaced. In addition, though, the furnace was confused because all the equipment in the dining room was telling it the house was around 80 degrees so it stopped running but then the other rooms were getting no heat. 2/14/2015 8:37PM Plugged in the microwave the power went out in back bedroom, the middle bedroom, living room, dining room lights but machinery (aside fro round yellow thing) is running. Brandon and Josiah are coming out. AGAIN!!!!!! 2/14/2015 10:21PM Power out again. Again they came out. 2/15/2015 2:30AM power out again. They were here around 9AM. 2/16/2015 Power out again. Mike got here at 12:15. 2/16/2015 Power out 8PM. Power out again. Dan and his partner came out in the snow squall, declared the house dry and removed the equipment and put back all the furniture too heavy for me to lift. Yes, I would use them again but I hope I never have to! I cannot emphasize enough how polite, calming and sweet every one of these guys were - mostly it was Mike and Brandon saddled with coming out to tweak the electrical connections but every one who entered this home was terrific. It was such a stressful situation and Mike, Brando and Dan really helped me get through it with their Zen-like calm.
