About Us- OUR MISSION At Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, our mission is to groom the next generation of technicians by honoring our values of 5-Star customer service and operational excellence. OUR STORY For over seventy years, Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Inc.'s dedicated employees have proudly served the Chester County, Pennsylvania area with their knowledgeable, courteous, and professional service. A.F. Mattioni & Sons Plumbing & Heating was founded on the Mattioni family farm along the (back then) very rural Route 113 outside of Downingtown, PA in 1948. The original barn which housed the company still stands! However, a newer, larger building on the family's property is the current home for the third generation of Mattioni’s to run the service-oriented business, but their commitment to quality has not changed. OUR PROMISE Our promise to you is to continue to grow and modernize so that we can provide you with the best products and services. We will continue to stick to our roots of caring deeply for both our customers and our employees. We promise to live this every day and to continue this legacy.

When they left the water was turned off when he was working. At some point it was turned back on right before he left. Soon after they the leak reappeared. I called the next day and they stated they would charge dispatcher charge to come back out and address the issue. I asked to speak with someone, no one called us back. I called them Monday and gave them two hours to call me back. No one called me back. I have called them several times to try and get this issue addressed. The only Manager of the family business was away on training. They did not transfer to me Robert the Manager. He is apparently the only person to address the issue. He is on Mountain time and they stated he could not because he is away. We ended up having damage to the ceiling due to the leak and it had to ripped down.

Everything from the first moment I called Mattioni to when John Martin (the plumber) left my house was a stellar experience. The dispatcher called to schedule an appointment when they said they would, John arrived exactly on time based on the text message I received prior to his arrival, he was VERY polite and courteous, did the proper investigation, explained exactly what was wrong and gave me the price breakdown before he started the work, completed the job in less than the amount of time he estimated, and checked his work thoroughly prior to invoicing. If ever I need a plumber again, Mattioni will absolutely be who I call and I'll certainly request John personally. GREAT EXPERIENCE GUYS!!!

For the price they charge , absolutely not. They had a great reputation and price based on their (FORMER) gold standard. That no longer exists. Average service. Beware of the service manager that comes to visit you. He’s a sales rep. While very nice, he’s smooth and undeed a sales person. I never heard from the owner even after reaching out.

My initial contact with Mattioni was to simply schedule a winter check-up on the furnace in our new house. I knew the furnace, a/c, and water heater were all about 11 years old and could be in need of replacement. One month later, I’ve had Mattioni replace all three and also perform some smaller plumbing jobs after the annual healthy home plumbing inspection they offer as part of their contract program (which came free for one year after I had the furnace and a/c installed). They’ve done too much work for me to go into detail on every aspect of every job they did, but, on the whole I have been very impressed with Mattioni. Their customer service, quality, and attention to detail seems top notch. If you’re just comparing prices, they’re probably not the cheapest contractor to use, but if you factor in the quality of the service they’re providing, I think their prices are very good, which is why I rated them A in this regard. As with any big jobs like installing a furnace or water heater, small hiccups can occur - in fact, a week after the furnace was installed and I had the plumbing inspection, a small gas leak was detected. After the hot water heater was installed, one of the fittings in the pipe that leads into the water heater leaked a small amount of water and set off the alarm they installed. In my view, small hiccups like this are to be expected when new installations occur. Where Mattioni really shined was in their response to these problems. In particular, I would recognize Jared C., the plumber who did most of our plumbing work. He noticed the small gas leak and had one of the HVAC techs sent out within several hours to address it. He also returned the late the same day he had installed the hot water heater to correct the small leak that had resulted from a defective fitting. I found his attention to detail and willingness to help my wife troubleshoot over the phone and then return late after a long day and fix the small problem to be exemplary customer service. On the whole, I highly recommend Mattioni. If you’re just interested in finding the contractor with the lowest price, Mattioni is probably not going to be your preferred contractor (although they were willing to match lower quotes I received on the hot water heater install). If you’re looking for an HVAC or plumbing company that has responsive and friendly customer service, technicians that pay attention to detail and treat your house as your own, and will ensure that the job is done both correctly and with a high degree of quality, Mattioni seems to be one of the best I’ve used in my years as a homeowner. They will certainly be my go-to plumber and HVAC company for the foreseeable future.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Had a serious leak on a Saturday. They told me they’d have someone over in two hours. Four hours went by with no call. When I finally called them, they told me someone was on the way. Two more hours and several calls later, nothing. I finally called someone else and they were over in 20 minutes. Ridiculous. They would’ve made a lot of money off our job, too! Stay away!

Every technician made it their business to do a hard sell for more services as much as possible. They phrased it as "I'm sure you want to know where you might get into trouble" but strongly recommended a lot of plumbing and I am not at all sure I need all they tried to sell me. I paid in full at the time of services I did buy yet, when I called for another service, I was abruptly handed to the bookkeeper who informed me I owed $100 and that she had been sending me emails to that effect. I did owe it because the tech had made an arithmetic error but Lori had never contacted me. I had gotten the usual followup line item invoices that the techs had sent but no requests from Lori over these last two weeks for payment. And I couldn't book an appointment until I had cleared it with the bookkeeper. I will pay the bill. I am offended by the constant pressure.

I chatted with someone on their website, to see what the cost would be. The guy took down all of my info and said someone would get in touch with me. I decided to just give them a call myself. The lady who answered said she didn't have any access to the pricing information. She said it would cost $60 for someone to come to my home and give me an estimate and that I would have three options to choose from - "Good, Better and Best", I would choose one of the options and it would then be installed on the spot. I asked her what happens if I decide to not use them, she stated that I would then just pay the $60 fee and we would part ways. That makes absolutely NO sense to me. I'm sure I can find another company that will be willing to at least give me a ballpark number for a service like this over the phone.

Norm and his helper were the most professional pair we have ever contracted. Having lived in three 100+ year old houses, I've had experience with many carpenters, electricians, roofers and plumbers. They arrived on time on both occasions. And their manner was extremely professional. Norm was especially articulate and clear in his recommendations. They worked efficienty and without taking a break. And when they finished the area was spotless.

They replaced the leaking flexible pipe, but the gas company found a small leak again afterwards, so they came out again and fixed it. Not sure why it wasn't perfect the first time, but these things happen with propane systems. Mattioni was prompt about returning the next day and making sure it was fixed. No problems since.
